The sharp pain from his leg was his first sign that something had gone wrong, the second was the blood. There wasn't a ton but it soaked his pants. And the third sign was Matt rushing over and looking concerned.
“Gus are you alright?”
“I’ll be fine but -ghk- we should probably call the healing coven.” Matt fumbled with his scroll before Gus suddenly grabbed it and started trying to stand. “Not here! We don’t want anyone finding the graveyard! Carry me closer to Bonesburrow and then I’ll call them.”
“Gus I don’t know if moving you is a good idea…” Matty really did look cute when he was worried- No! Focus!
“It’ll be fine! Besides I don’t think it’s that serious. I’m not screaming in pain or anything.” Although he was very close.
Matt looked hesitant but slowly picked Gus up and put him on his back. Clutching the base of his neck for a few moments before relaxing, Gus laid his head on Matt’s back and tried to focus on anything other than his leg.
Matt is carrying me. Mattholomule is carrying me. He could feel Matt walking, the rhythmic motion calming. I am basically hugging Matt.
“You awake Gus?” This is actually the closest I’ve come to hugging Matt.
“I hope falling asleep isn’t a bad thing.” I should hug him later.
“Dam it. I should have paid more attention to the first aid course.” Matt is really warm. This is nice.
“Or just not let you fall in the first place.” This is really nice. I should definitely hug him later.
“I think we’re getting closer.” He was really cute earlier. He’s cute a lot.
“…I don’t think I ever said sorry for what I did. I should do that once you get treated. Unless you can hear me now. I- uh… sorry? Then?” Gus made a sound. Something along the lines of ‘it’s mkay’. Especially when he’s awkward, or scrunching his eyebrows up like when he’s focused. And definitely when he’s flustered. I should make him flustered later.
“Gus? I need my scroll to call the healing coven. Do you still have it?”
“Mmmm… Pocket.” Matt reached into Gus’s pocket and took his scroll. He got really flustered when I said he looked good. I should do that more.
“Hello? My friend is hurt. His name is Augustus Porter-“ His hair looks so pretty, I wonder what it would look like put up? Would his middle part make it impossible to do a unicorntail? Would battails work better? What would he look like with Amity’s hair?
“Gus, the healing coven is on their way.” Matt set Gus onto a bench.
“S’great. Keep talking, please.” Matt’s ears turned red. Cute.
“You heard all of that?”
“Not all of it, but the distraction helped.”
“O-okay. Uhm… do you think the trap we were working on would work? Or should we scrap it?”
“Are you kidding? It’s a great trap! Anyone trying to get into the graveyard would get hurt!”

“I’m assuming you’re Augustus?” Gus looked at the healing coven member and nodded. “Great. I’m Ray, they/them, let’s take a look at this leg.” As they rolled his pant leg up he gasped and grabbed for Matt’s hand. Turning his head away from Ray and squeezing the hand tight, he tried to focus on Matt.
“It looks like you have a small hairline fracture in your tibia with a very large gash on the outside. I’m going to call out a cart to help take you to the main building so we can put a cast on you.” Gus nodded and stopped squeezing Matt’s hand as hard when they stopped inspecting his leg. “And your boyfriend here should probably head back home. It’s getting late and I don’t need any missing kids running around.” That set his face ablaze.
“We-we’re not- he’s not- I-“
“W-we’re not dating.” Matt looked away from Gus (with that cute furrow in his brow again!) before continuing. “A-anyways. Should I try calling your dad?”
“Oh I can do that, but are you going to be okay heading home on your own? I wanna make sure that you’re safe and-“
“Gus I’ll be fine. My house is just down the road.” Matt stood up and gave Gus a small wave, “See you at school.”, before walking away. Leaving Gus with Ray and a healing coven cart on the way.

“So you’re not dating, but you definitely like him.”
“No!! I- uh- m-maybe a little.”
“Well I’m pretty sure he likes you too so go ahead and make a move if you want.”
“What!?”
