Chapter Text
Lu Guang was not a stranger to bad days.
While some days are not ideal, most days were actually quite nice. He wakes up, goes to school, hangs out with his friends, goes home, reads, eats, and sleeps. That was how it was usually.
Then there are those days that just didn’t want to go his way.
The first sign he had was waking up groggy. He never woke up groggy. He literally just woke up and proceeded with his routine with the same amount of enthusiasm as he does when applying spread to a piece of toast.
It was harder to get up from his dormitory bed and was even harder to get into the shower.
The water heater was also broken that morning, so they had to make do with what they had. Lu Guang was lightly shivering by the time he was making his way to his first class.
It was a cold day though, so he thought nothing of it. He probably should have worn warmer clothing.
As it were, he was just wearing a cotton shirt and a pair of jeans. He didn’t even think of putting on thicker socks for his chilled feet. Then again, he couldn’t really think about all of this with the presence of the muffled cotton feeling muddling his brain.
“Lu Guang!”
The white-haired boy blinked as a pair of concerned brown eyes stared closely at him. ‘When did Cheng Xiaoshi get here?’
“I’ve been calling you for 2 minutes now, you were just staring ahead like a freaking zombie,” Xiaoshi answered his subconscious muttering. “Are you alright? You look a little pale.”
“I’m fine.” By then, even his mouth already felt cottony.
“You say so. Anyway, come on, we’re going to be late by the rate of your shuffling!”
Whatever he answered the raven-haired man, he didn’t remember.
The next thing he knew, he was waking up with the smell of alcohol and antiseptics. He blinked as he turned his head to the side. It took him a couple of seconds to realize that he was lying on one of the beds in the university clinic.
Sitting up slowly, he looked around, finding his bag and a vaguely familiar jacket on a chair close by.
The nurse was busy taking care of another student with a bleeding nose, so he took it upon himself to reach for his bag. He clumsily caught a piece of paper that came loose from being wedged between the bag and the chair.
You’ve been excused from classes. You can go back to the dorms when you wake up.
I’ll come by later with some medicine and food.
Please get some rest. Use my jacket for now, I’ll pick it up later.
- Cheng Xiaoshi
Lu Guang frowned at the note but placed it down in order to grab Xiaoshi’s jacket from the chair and draped it on his shoulders.
He immediately felt warmer than he did that morning.
