Ice and Fire

Summary:

Ravus was a demi-god, a child of an Astral. He was a child of Shiva and throughout his years he had a bit of a reputation for not being the friendliest. Whether this was a trait of Shiva or just something that was his own, but he was always rather distant and cold towards others. He had the hardest time trying to befriend someone else, whether they were demi-god or not.

That was until one day when he met someone new.

Notes:

Still a bit behind but I am catching up on my rare pairs! Day 2 is demi-gods and the pair course is Ravus/Prompto!!

Work Text:

Ravus was a demi-god, a child of an Astral. He had known ever since he was young that he was a child of Shiva. His nearly white hair and one icy blue eye were special traits that helped reveal who his Astral parent was.

He always held that knowledge close to his heart, knowing he had Astral blood that resisted within his veins. He would do whatever he could to make his mother proud of who he was. He would be one to strongly represent how good and wise a demi-god could truly be.

But that still didn't mean he got along well with others. Whether this was a trait of Shiva or just something that was his own, but he was always rather distant and cold towards others. He had the hardest time trying to befriend someone else, whether they were demi-god or not.

That was until one day when he met someone new.

He was traveling through Niflheim, seeing his mother's latest work in coating the land in snow. He marveled in the beauty of the snow covering the trees and the parks, every little inch of it. But as he was passing by one park, he saw the very person that was going to change everything for him. He just didn't know it yet.

In the center of the park was a young man, hair as golden as the sun. It even seemed to shimmer in the sunlight that was cast down on him. He was walking around the snow carefully, looking completely in awe at everything. What was strange though was how little he was wearing in the cold temperature. He had no winter coat or even gloves. He wore a simple tank-top and sweatpants and barely looked phased by the cold winds that blew by.

Curious, Ravus moved closer to him. "Enjoying the weather?"

"Oh totally! It hasn't snowed this much in Niflheim in years! Like literally this is a historical day with the snow!" the blond exclaimed. "So I totally had to come and see it for myself!"

"And you're not cold?"

For Ravus he could get by without a lot of winter gear, being the son of Shiva after all. It was in his nature to be used to the cold and not have it affect him. Others would not last as long as he could, so now the suspicion in his mind was really starting to activate.

"Nah, cold isn't really something that gets to me. I'm a warm kind of guy, y'know?"

"A warm weather guy?" Ravus corrected.

The guy shook his head. "No. Well, not really no. Sort of? I am just always able to keep warm."

"How so?" Ravus found himself asking. He didn't know why he was so curious about this young man. He didn't even know his name yet.

"It's a secret," the guy chuckled.

"Can I at least know your name?"

"Oh yeah! That's totally not a secret. Name's Prompto! And you?"

"Ravus."

Prompto grinned brightly. "Nice to meet you, Ravus!"

Ravus almost felt like the smile was just as bright as the way his hair shined. Something felt rather warm from just the smile itself. It was a strange feeling and Ravus couldn't quite place yet.

"So…" Prompto stepped closer. "What brings you here? You here to see the snow as well?"

"Yes. I came here to see the snow as well. It is quite spectacular."

Prompto hummed, now leaning himself a little closer to Ravus. "You're pretty interesting."

Ravus's eyes widened. "E-Excuse me?"

"There's something about you," Prompto commented. "Something is interesting about you. Your eyes. They're really special. Hair too."

Ravus blushed slightly, turning his head ahead. "And what of it? It shouldn't be that intriguing."

"You kidding!" Prompto exclaimed. "Your hair is like the snow! So pretty and white! Which makes me wonder…"

Prompto grinned. "Just who are you really?"

"I don't know what you are trying to imply," Ravus said, stepping back.

"Come on, I know you sensed it too. Someone about me seemed odd right? I sensed the same thing about you too!"

By now Ravus could notice other people walking around, giving them strange looks and stared. But he knew Prompto With a hum, Ravus leaned in closer. "Then maybe we should move to a quieter location then?"

"Sure thing. Come on, my motel room is just down the street," Prompto said as he waved for Ravus to follow him.

They headed back through the streets until they arrived at the motel and Prompto unlocked the door to his room. He locked the door when they were inside and then proceeded to sit down on the bed.

"So! Tell me more about yourself," Prompto grinned. "And then I'll do the same."

"I still do not understand what you are trying to infer," Ravus said as he crossed his arms.

"It's the secret stuff. You know, like how I was out in the freezing cold with just this tank top or why your hair is as pretty as the snow. Think about it, dude!"

Ravus sighed as he stared longer. He knew Prompto had a point. There was something that drew him to him, something that felt different than the others. It was something out of the normal for Ravus to do, to actually step forward to make a social interaction with someone.

"So what you are trying to imply is…" Ravus breathed in.

"You're a demi-god!" Prompto declared.

Ravus was shocked, a small gasp escaping his mouth. "And you as well?"

Prompto grinned. "Yup! That's right! I guess demi-gods just have an innate sense of attraction to one another?"

"I would not say attraction is the right word to use," Ravus muttered. "A sense of identifying would be more accurate."

"Yeah, buuuuut," Prompto said. "You are pretty attractive."

Ravus could feel the blush in his cheeks return, growing warmer by the second. He tried his best to push away the feelings that were building up, trying to regain focus. "Who do you belong to? Your Astral parent."

"Isn't it obvious who I am? I'm out in freezing weather without being cold. I'm a warm guy, remember?"

Slowly the pieces clicked into place, and Ravus almost felt foolish for not noticing sooner. "A son of Ifrit."

When Prompto grinned, Ravus now understood why the smiles themselves felt so warm and bright. It was like a comforting fire in the form of a pleasing smile. Something that was soothing and Ravus wouldn't deny that he liked seeing that smile.

"And you're a son of Shiva, right? Hence the whole cold look and the hair and stuff?"

"Yes," Ravus nodded.

"Oh man!" Prompto chuckled. He got up from the back and stepped closer to Ravus. "Do you think this is some fated thing? Or like a forbidden lovers thing?"

"Lovers?" Ravus said, nearly choking on the word.

Now Prompto started to look a little nervous. He fiddled with a strain of his hair and looked at the floor. "W-Well maybe not l-lovers. Just sort of said that as a in the moment thing, y'know? But I still mean what I said before about you. Even if this isn't like a love thing or doesn't become that, I still think you are really good looking. And sorry! I'm just rambling now, ha…"

Ravus started to laugh softly. He hadn't felt this good in a long while. After all his travels and interactions, he finally found someone who could make him laugh. "No worries, Prompto. I thank you for the compliment."

"Well, since we are both here and stuff… wanna do something together then?"

"Like a date?" Ravus asked, his voice much softer than before.

"S-Sure! We could do that if you want."

"You did say that this was probably something fated, did you not? So, I don't see why not indulging in a unique meeting between two demi-gods shouldn't happen."

WIth another grin, Prompto reached forward and held on to Ravus's hand. "Whoa dude! Your hands are like ice!"

"And yours are like the sun," Ravus replied.

Prompto laughed. "This is going to be so interesting. Come on, let's go!"

With a simple pull, Ravus let the demi-god son of Ifrit pull him back out into the snow covered city. A new day was ahead of him and for once he felt excited. A small flame had reached his heart, melting that cold exterior he was so used to, but he wasn't afraid. Instead he was excited to see where this little ball of sunshine was going to lead him.
