Work Text:

Saiki casually walked down the street, hands in his pockets. Except for Yuuta yelling out of the window, "HELLO CYBORG CIDER-MAN #2!!!!", when he was walking out of his house nobody, not even his classmates, had attempted to bother him. It was nice, peaceful even. Even people's thoughts weren't too bad, which was pleasant. There was only one thing on Saiki's mind, buy his coffee jelly, then get back home and eat it, unbothered by anyone. This plan was, supposedly, going smoothly, until he turned the last corner to the shop.

As Saiki turned the corner to get there, he heard a familiar tune. To begin with, this wasn't a bother, after all, he heard people humming songs to themselves all the time, as well as them getting frustrated when they can't get a song out of their heads. This, however, felt different. The reason why this was became evident when the lyrics started:

'We're no strangers to love, you know the rules and so do I,'

Why.

The person singing the song in their heads smiled to themself, like they knew someone was reading their mind at that very moment.

Saiki, of course, like any other person on the Internet, knew about the concept of Rickrolling. He, however, had never been the subject of one. He rarely ever texted people, and if someone was to show the video in person, he'd know beforehand. So, this happening was an unpleasant surprise. The person who was singing the song in their head was basically grinning now, almost looking like a crazy person to any other person that would walk past them, just trying to live their lives.

As the song went on and on, Saiki got every so slightly annoyed. As it reached the chorus ('Never gonna give you up, never gonna let you down, never gonna run around and desert you,') he decided he didn't want to deal with this anymore, and tried walking a little quicker to escape them. Saiki even got to the point where he'd rather read anyone else's, even Toritsuka's.

Well, maybe that's a bit of a stretch. I doubt I'd even read his mind even if it was for ¥1,000,000.

Saiki saw the shop coming up in front of him, and the song getting further and further away, and eventually getting drowned out completely.

Finally.

Saiki stepped into the shop through the glass automatic doors, and walked to the aisle where the coffee jelly was kept.

Saiki walked back out of the glass doors, coffee jelly in hand, in pretty much utter bliss. He couldn't wait to get back, and eat it while watching a show he found. Saiki had tried to make sure to find one with a small enough fanbase, and had lucked out in finding one with a good enough production quality and story.

As Saiki turned the corner, he heard a familiar song again.

'We're not strangers to love~'

Good grief.
