Work Text:
everything felt numb.
he knew he should be able to cry, then he should be crying, the girl so young and full of life had died before him. he had failed.
yet no tears came, he simply stood, still, unmoving, unfeeling.
dazai appeared in front of him, waving at kunikida, his usual teasing smile no longer plastered on his face. he held out his arms, offering for kunikida to fall into his hug. the other falls into his embrace without much of a second thought.
“it’s ok to cry.” dazai states, looking off to the horizon.
that was the breaking point for the taller, he dissolves into tears, soaking the other beige jacket.
“i couldn't save her. she died. i’ve failed my ideals.” kunikida stutters out between sobs, his words barely comprehensible.
“you did a lot more than most people would.” dazai rubs circles on kunikida’s back. “you did good.”
