Work Text:

The sounds of cooking and soft humming greeted Tseng as he made his way to the kitchen.

The light over the stove and the morning glow from the window didn't quite reach into the hall. A darker shadow appearing in the doorway didn't startle Reno.

"Hey, just in time," he said, pointing to a pot on another burner.

"Reno. What...?" Tseng's gaze shifted from the sizzling pan to the cooling pot.

"Rude failed his mission and bought too many. You like hard-boiled, right?"

Tseng held back a sigh. Reno continued scrambling.

"Is he hiding?"

"No..."

"From Elena."

"Oh. Then yes."

Notes:

I only own the writing.

For the curious... This is the first time I wrote a fill for my own prompt. I decided to give it a shot — two, really — because of the daily theme for the comm's quarterly Lonely Prompts Week challenge.

Here's the author's note I included (not so much for myself as for anyone passing by >:P): "The idea of Rude being a pushover who's terrible at haggling hit me while writing this. Meanwhile, Elena is tired of grocery shopping and eggs, haha."
