“Soushi… Are you there?”
Kazuki’s voice addressed a boy who wasn’t supposed to be there. The room was empty expect for Kazuki.
“Somehow” Soushi’s voiced echoed inside Kazuki’s head.
Kazuki leaned against the wall and sat down with his eyes closed.
“Soushi”
“What is it?”
Though Soushi wasn’t there, although he wasn’t by his side, although he was nowhere… at least, at least Kazuki could hear his sweet voice.
“Nothing… I just want to hear your voice”
Why was it so easy to speak honestly now? Why was it so hard to convey his feelings before?
“I just want to hug you…”
Kazuki’s voice was cracking and his eyes welled with tears.
“I want to have you by my side…”
“Kazuki…”
Tears started rolling out Kazuki’s eyes.
Soushi look at Kazuki with a pained look in his face.
“Kazuki…” he called out his name again “Don’t cry…”
“Sorry…” Kazuki apologized trying to stop his tears, but the tears didn’t stop.
“Don’t cry…” Soushi repeated as he tried to gently stroke Kazuki’s hair but wasn’t able to actually touch him.
“I’m here…” Soushi said ‘even though I’m not here’ he left those words unsaid.
“I’m by your side” he added “even though I’m nowhere”
Kazuki attempts to stop crying finally succeeded.
“You’re not making any sense” he tried to laugh.
Soushi smiled.
“I’m here” he stated as he gently point Kazuki’s chest. “In your heart… right?”
“Pfft… right. You’re here” Kazuki’s smile was still a sad smile as he placed his hand on his own chest. “But I still… want to hug you”
There was a brief silence.
“I want to touch” Kazuki continued “To feel your warmth”
“That will have to wait”
“I don’t mind waiting… but I want you” That was a little white lie. Kazuki didn’t want waiting. He wanted with Soushi right now. But he knew, he understood it was not possible.
“Kazuki…” Soushi saw through his lie and look back at him bitterly
“I love you, you know?”
“I promise I’ll be back. I’ll come back to you.” Soushi’s voice was full of determination. Determination to be back as soon as possible. To be back to the island. To Kazuki.
“I know… I’ll be waiting for you… forever. ”
