One Thing that Didn't Change

Summary:

Midoriya often forgets to go to sleep when he gets distracted by either homework or his analytical thoughts, and that can lead to him being exhausted for up to a week. At least he can rely on one person to always be there.

Or just another one shot of mainly cuddles because im fucking dying over here

Notes:

cuddles. take it. free of charge. have a daily dose of wholesome. take a break from the angst.

Work Text:

To put it lightly, Midoriya was tired. He was absolutely exhausted from all the training they did that week, not to mention how much homework they had received. Yes, he understands that most of it was optional, and that he could’ve chosen not to do the extra credit, but he knew that he'd finish off the normal homework too soon and be left with nothing to do.

He rubbed at his eyes, his body sore and strained as he began to leave his room, looking for one thing only. Once he’d gone down the stairs, Izuku looked around the common room, eyes searching for something. His head stopped turning when he spotted exactly who he wanted right now, and without using his sleep deprived brain, began walking over to them.

Mina, who was sitting on the couch and talking to Kirishima, Kaminari and Sero, paused in her conversation to look at Midoriya. The boy looked like he hadn’t gone to sleep in a week, and she could immediately feel concern welling up within her, her classmates seeming to feel the same.

When Midoriya looked over at their group, they waved, though the greenette didn’t seem to register it seeing as he immediately turned to look elsewhere. Mina looked around as well, trying to see what Midoriya was looking for when the boy began to walk over to them.

Without a second thought, Midoriya walked over to the beanbag that was currently occupied by the resident storm of anger issues, and stood there. His body began to sway slightly with his sleepiness, so he stuck his foot out and kicked Bakugou lightly.

The class, expecting the blonde to blow up, prepared to help pull the tired boy away from blast radius, but instead, the spiky haired male just took one look at Midoriya and opened his arms wide, sitting up straight.

Izuku smiled sleepily and sat himself in Katsuki’s lap, somehow wrapping his arms and legs around the male’s torso and dropping his head onto his shoulder. Once Bakugou knew that Midoriya wouldn’t move, he leaned back down into the beanbag, one arm going up to brush the boy’s hair while the other continued to scroll through his phone.

Kaminari stared. He wondered for a brief moment if he’d accidentally short circuited himself again but from the look on his classmates faces, he knew he wasn’t the only one. No way was this real. Their explosive boom boom boy couldn’t have been cuddling with the one person they all thought he definitely hated.

“What’s wrong with you extras?” He even spoke in a softer tone as though to prevent Midoriya from being disturbed. Mina’s jaw was open wide as she held up her phone to take a photo.

“Hey, Bakubro,” Kirishima hesitantly began. “Why do you have Midobro on your lap?”

The hand threading through Izuku’s hair stopped, prompting a high pitched whine to come from the male. Midoriya sniffed, nuzzling his face into the crook of the blonde’s neck and tightening his hug. The class paused, watching as Bakugou put his phone down to wrap his arms properly around the greenette, the gentle hair brushing starting again, this time followed by a content sigh.

“Deku’s not great at taking care of himself,” Bakugou was rubbing circles into the boy’s back, feeling his weight grow heavier above him. “He always used to stay up late finishing an analysis or extra homework the teacher’s gave him. Since he never focused on the time, Auntie Inko, that’s his mom, often had me drag him away from his desk and he liked passing out on me a lot so we’ve just taken to doing this whenever he gets too tired. Now shut up and let him sleep, I’ll answer your questions another day.”

Izuku let out another noise of complaint when Bakugou’s warm hands moved away from his head, only to settle down when one rested against his neck and the other against the small of his back, He curled his body closer to Katsuki, soaking up his warmth like the man was a human heater, grumbling quietly. Bakugou huffed, fingers softly pressing into Midoriya’s neck to give it a light massage. The blonde closed his eyes, body relaxing as the two simply enjoyed the closeness of one another, ignoring the rest of their class entirely.

Soon enough, Katsuki felt Izuku start to snore against him, and he shuffled slightly, sitting up straight in the beanbag. He noticed that while the class seemed to still be very curious, they knew not to bombard him with questions when Izuku had finally fallen asleep, and Katsuki moved one hand slowly, pocketing his phone before making way to stand, Izuku in his arms the whole time. Once he managed to get into a crouching position, he managed to move Midoriya around enough until he was in a bridal carry in his arms.

Walking out of the room without a second glance, he headed straight for his bedroom, knowing that Izuku wouldn’t want to wake up in a room full of eyes looking at him, even if they were just All Might posters. He lowered Midoriya into his bed, the boy whining in his sleep at the loss of warmth. Bakugou smiled and lay down in front of Izuku, the male immediately trying to get closer despite not even being conscious.

Bakugou pulled the boy into his chest, letting his arm cushion Izuku’s head while the other pulled his blanket over both of them. He could feel the way Midoriya wiggled around in his sleep, trying to get comfortable in this new position. Eventually, he calmed down again, chest rising with each soft breath he took and if Bakugou gave the sleeping boy a soft smile, no one had to know. He leaned down, Izuku’s hair brushing against his face as he pressed a gentle kiss on the top of his head.

Katsuki kept one hand wrapped firmly around Izuku’s back as he drifted off to sleep, opting to ignore how his door clicked open and shut, knowing it was probably just one of the self-proclaimed Bakusquad.

Now Mina would like to claim that she had a new album entirely full of blackmail material against Bakugou, but she knew that one, he probably wouldn’t care and two, it didn’t feel right taking something that they saw as a form of comfort and using it against him. Instead she made an album filled with sweet photos of the two members of the class who, despite seeming like complete polar opposites, could not have been more similar.

Downstairs, the main topic of discussion was Bakugou, and more importantly, his change in behaviour. The person they had known might have done that for specific people if they were having a really shitty day, but they didn’t think the person he’d so ‘lovingly’ named Deku would be on the list. Even if he did let someone do that, they all doubted it would’ve been with such care.

“Guys they’re napping together, it’s so cute!”

Kaminari and Kirishima were smiling while Mina squealed over how cute the two boys looked while napping. In the photo you could barely see Midoriya, the shorter male being mostly hidden by Bakugou except for his hair, though you could clearly see his arm clutching Katsuki’s shirt. Bakugou’s usual angry wrinkles had smoothed out to make him look oddly peaceful, and if that didn’t make the hearts of Class 1-A (and author san because bro i need a friend who will let me do this pls, i want cuddles) explode with how innocent it was, then no one knew what could.

It’s a wonder that Aizawa still puts up with these kids.

Notes:

i need me a bakugou katsuki. and dont mind the single sentence that mentions aizawa, i love the man too much not to include him
