Izuku sat on top of a roof, waiting for Eraserhead to show up. They’d planned to meet up a few days before but the man was uncharacteristically late. Sighing, he pulled out what he had dubbed his “vigilante phone” used for quick hacking. He tapped into the police comm in time to hear something about a possible fear of men, requesting a female officer to go in. Izuku was alarmed. What was going on? He quickly traced the comms to a house not too far from where he was. Dashing across rooftops, red and blue lights enter his vision. Izuku spotted Eraserhead and dropped down by him.
“What’s going on?” He asked. The older man startled, whipping around to see the vigilante.
“Oh, it’s just you Viridian..” He sighed, running his hand through his long hair. “A man killed his wife. They had a daughter and she’s hiding under her bed but we can’t get her to come out from under there.” Izuku scanned the living room where they stood, a pamphlet catching his eye. Horror filled his veins. Izuku knew what the pamphlet was for. The pieces connected in his head. The woman came out of what he presumed to be the girl’s room shaking her head. Naomosa sighed, obviously exhausted and out of ideas.
Izuku darted into the room, quietly closing the door. Walking over to the bed, he sat and peered under it. There sat a girl of about four with dirty blonde hair. She shrunk back, pressing back against the wall her bed was tucked into. Izuku removed his shoes and socks.
“Do you want to play a game?” He asked softly. She didn’t respond. Izuku pointed at his big toe
“This little piggy went to the market.” He pointed to the next toe.
“This little piggy stayed home.” he moved to next,
“This little piggy had roast beef.” The next,
“This little piggy had none.” He finally pointed to his pinkie toe.
“And this little piggy cried wee wee wee all the way home,” counting out each joint in the smallest toe. The little girl all but launched herself at the boy, sobbing. He rubbed her back, whispering comforting words.
“Will you come with me so we can know what happened here?” She hesitated.
“But all the others aren’t like us..” she whispered. Izuku gave her a soft smile.
“I know someone who’s like us. I can ask for him?” she nodded, still hesitant but a bit more willing. He picked her up and walked out of the room, still barefoot.
“Naomosa, I need officer Onaji Muryoku here please?” The detective nodded, wondering how in the world Viridian managed to lure this little girl from under her bed but quickly dialing the number of the requested officer.
“Hello?” came from the other line
“Officer Onaji?”
“Yes this is him.”
“Viridian has requested you. If you aren’t already there, I need to come into the precinct.”
“Y-yes of course.” Naomasa hung up, nodding to the young vigilante. The ride to the precinct was quick. Officer Onaji quickly approached the vigilante and little girl. She shrunk away from him but Izuku was quick to reassure her.
“It’s alright Kizutsuku. He’s like us.” she nodded and waved to the man. Eraserhead, Naomasa, Onaji, Izuku and Kizutsuku walked into the interrogation room.
Izuku settled Kizutsuku into his lap. She eyed the former two with fear.
“How did you get her out?” Eraser asked.
“She doesn’t have a fear of men. She has a fear of people with quirks.” Eraser’s eyes widened.
“Then we’ll need to take her to a different hospital than expected.” Onaji said. Izuku nodded.
“It’s a little farther to the one we’re supposed to take her to.”
“Why?” Naomasa asked. It was protocole to take a witness to the nearest hospital.
“The nearest hospital doesn’t have a quirkless doctor or nurse but the one I go to, which is a little farther away, does.” Onaji explained, taking out his phone to call them and stepped out of the room.
Kizutsuku was still looking at the other two with fear.
“Kizutsuku, these are my friends. They won't hurt you.” he whispered. “And if they try I won't let them.” She looked at Izuku with her big, brown eyes.
“But they’re not like us! They have quirks!” Izuku just smiled at her and pointed to the detective.
“That’s Naomasa. Do you wanna know what his quirk is?” She nodded. “He can tell if someone’s lying. That doesn’t make him stronger than me.” Izuku flexed his arm, muscles showing. “You feel that? Feel all that muscle? Well I can take Naomasa in a fight.” She nodded but still looked fearfully at Eraserhead.
Izuku noticed. “That’s Eraserhead. Wanna know what his quirk is?” She nodded again. “He can take other’s quirks away. You know what that means?”
“What?”
“That means that he can’t do anything to us! If he uses his quirk on us nothing happens!”
“Cuz we don’t have a quirk to take away right?” Izuku nodded enthusiastically. Aizawa's eyes widened.
“That’s right! So I can take him too!” he booped her nose and she giggled.
“So can you tell us what happened?” Naomasa asked softly. She worried her lip before looking back at Izuku.
“Does your daddy try to hurt you?” Izuku nodded slowly
“My daddy used to hurt me so my momma gave him a choice. He could either stop hurting me or he could leave so I haven’t seen my daddy in a very long time.” Kizutsuku frowned.
“My daddy tried to hurt me too…” And the picture became clear.
Kizutsuku had been diagnosed as quirkless and her father flew into a rage, trying to hurt his daughter. Her mother tried to step in so he redirected his anger, blaming his wife for his daughter’s quirklessness. So he killed her. Kizutsuku had hidden under her bed and called the police about what had happened. As she finished her tale Onaji walked back in.
“I called them and they’ve gotten all the quirkless nurses and doctors for her.” Izuku nodded and looked back to Kizutsuku.
“Why don’t you go with mister Onaji while I talk with my friends?” She nodded, hopping off his lap and walking off with the officer. The second the door closed, Eraserhead spoke up.
“You knew what happened immediately.” Izuku nodded. “Does.. Is it really that normal?”
“More than you’d think.” Izuku whispered, walking out of the room. And that broke Eraserheads heart.
When they got to the hospital, they were surrounded by people who were quirkless, known by the bright red boots they wore. People had called their friend, people who weren’t on their shifts, and even volunteers to form a barrier of people that Kizutsuku was comfortable with and to protect her from the people she fears. And Izuku walked proudly among these people and that’s how everyone found out. Viridian, the best vigilante, did everything by sheer strength, willpower, and determination.
