Work Text:

Chan dragged a hand down his face, exasperation oozing out of every pore. “No, Jisung, we can’t keep the cat.”

“Why not?” Jisung whined, ending with a little pout for full effect, cradling the small ball of fur he had found on his way home from the convenience store to his chest.

“Because we don’t have the time necessary to take care of a cat,” Chan answered. “We barely have time to take care of ourselves!”

“Cat’s are fairly self-sufficient,” Minho provided, rather unhelpfully in Chan’s opinion, from the couch. “Unlike a dog, most cats are perfectly content so long as food is provided on a schedule and the litter box is clean. We wouldn’t have to worry about things like walks.”

“What about things like vet visits? Or going on tour? Or even just our normal comeback work hours?” Chan questioned, trying to get them to see the rational side of things. “I don’t want to bring an animal into this house only to end up neglecting it. It would be better if we dropped the cat off at a shelter.”

“Automatic feeders and self-cleaning litter boxes solve the issue of our irregular schedules.” Minho countered.

“And my sister could probably check in while we’re on tour,” Changbin provided, glancing up from where he had been cooing over the kitten in Jisung’s arms.

Chan dropped into the armchair behind him, defeat was imminent but he wasn’t going down without a fight. They needed to really think about this, not make a decision based on emotions influenced by a kitten that was too cute for its own good.

“Come on Chanie,” Felix begged, eyes wide, lips in a full pout, something he knew all of his boyfriends were weak for. “Please. We’ll take care of him. You won’t have to do a thing.”

Chan sighed again, both hands coming up to squish his cheeks. “Who’s we? Which of you are going to take responsibility for the cat?”

Jisung and Felix glanced at each other and then back at Chan in perfect unison. “We will.”

Chan scanned the expectant faces of his boyfriends. “There’s no second chances. If I find the cat missed one meal or spent one day without proper care, I’m taking it straight to a shelter.”

A grin slid across Minho’s face. “That won’t be an issue, Channie.”

“Thank you Channie!” Hyunjin squealed, rushing forward to plant a kiss on Chan’s cheek.

“What are we naming it?” Seungmin asked, inching closer to Jisung.

“Lino Hyung,” Jisung suggested almost automatically.

“We’re not calling it that,” Minho drawled.

“Hyungie for short!” Jeongin grinned, completely ignoring Minho.

Jisung grinned. “Yes!”
