Work Text:

Twilight Sparkle POV:

“Can we pretend that airplanes in the night sky are like shooting stars?” Twilight Sparkle screamed into the cold, night air. Tears streamed down her face as she gazed up into the cosmos, feeling smaller and more powerless than ever.

Things haven’t been easy for her since she was banished from Equestria. She was cast aside from Ponyville and stripped of her powers from Princess Celestia, all for just trying to expose the truth. No one even stood up for her!

I guess friendship isn’t magic after all… Twilight Sparkle thought to herself.

Flashbacks of her final days in Ponyville raced through her mind. Her friends looked so disappointed and mad at her as she was forced to leave. She never even had the time to explain to them what happened!

The tears kept dripping down her face until they stopped suddenly. A smooth, melodic voice behind her startled her.

“I could really use a wish right now,” the handsome voice said.

Mordecai POV:

Mordecai took a long, hard drag from his cigarette, eyes fixated into the black abyss that is the sky when all of a sudden he heard a voice.

“Can we pretend that airplanes in the night sky are like shooting stars?”

Who said that? Mordecai thought. He was in a private area of the park that no one knows about, not even Benson.

He slowly stood up to investigate the sound. The voice sounded so distressed and full of sadness.

This voice, he thought, they know exactly how I feel.

He sucked in a quick breath as his heart skipped a beat. There, sitting atop the grassy hill was the most beautiful mare. This woman put even Margaret to shame!

Ugh, Margaret. He internally sighed.

Enough about her, he quickly decided, realizing he needed to say something soon to break the ice.

“I could really use a wish right now,” he smoothly said to the purple filly.

She quickly turned around and took notice of him, tears halfway down her face.

“Hi,” he continued, “I’m Mordecai.”
