Work Text:
MJ became very worried when Peter started speaking to the AcaDec team less and less as rumors swirled heavily around the school after he mysteriously disappeared from the bus on their way to the Museum of Modern Art. MJ had always had her suspicions about Peter, and these rumors were truly worrying.
She had been the last one off of the bus that day, only a few months ago. Mr. Harrington had gone nearly catatonic when he discovered that Peter was gone, but Mr. Dell had calmed him before most of the students could notice. Everyone was panicking anyway because the city was under attack again. Peter was nowhere to be found, as Mr. Harrington and Mr. Dell rushed them all into safety.
MJ happened to stand near Mr. Harrington, and she overheard him and Mr. Dell talking. She had her suspicions that they both knew why Peter had disappeared all of a sudden. When Ned had panicked while they were on the bus, she had noticed that Mr. Dell and Mr. Harrington shared an ominous and worried look. She also noticed that Betty also saw the looks on their faces.
Betty was standing near her as well, and it was as if she could see the light bulb going off over her head when she heard Mr. Dell say something about Peter being a ‘self-sacrificial idiot’. MJ had already had her suspicions, but that conversation practically confirmed it. They didn’t say that he was Spider-Man, but she was positive that he was. Especially since she had seen Peter jump away from their bus right after Ned screamed out.
When Ned had panicked, most of the other students had as well. The city was chaotic again, and she was way too used to it. MJ worried for Peter’s safety as they were all shuffled inside the closest building, hoping to stay away from the main fight.
It wasn’t until late that night when things calmed down enough for everyone to be evacuated from the now unstable building that they had sheltered in. MJ’s Aunt Anna had been waiting for her, and she watched as Ned hugged his mother. The crowd of worried parents, teachers, and students soon dispersed, and MJ was left with her thoughts again. She would have to investigate to prove that her suspicions were correct.
The next day, it was announced that her school was damaged during the attack, and that there were many injured, but no dead, students. The school had been shut down for the next couple of weeks for renovations, but MJ knew that wouldn’t keep gossip from going around. Especially since Betty had been the other person who overheard their teacher’s conversation.
She constantly checked her phone to see if Peter had texted her. They were not too close yet, but she knew that he had a crush on her, but she was too shy to try and tell him that she also liked him. She was extremely worried when she didn’t receive a text in Ned, her, and Peter’s group chat until five days after the city was attacked.
“Hey, Ned and MJ. I’m recovering from an accident right now. I was injured during the attack on the city. I really wish that I had gone on that field trip now. I had been allowed to go home after getting sick once I had gotten off the bus, and while walking home, I was hit in the head by some debris, and I was knocked into a coma briefly, but I am recovering quite well, and I hope to see you guys soon. Bye, guys!”
MJ looked at that text and she knew it was a direct lie. She hated it when Peter made stupid excuses like that. A teacher would never let a student walk home from a field trip, especially one that was in Manhattan when they were all from Queens. She had a whole lot of investigating to do, but it would have to wait until they were back at school.
She conversed with him and Ned the whole time that school was out. They didn't even have any online assignments, but until school was back in session, and everything was cleaned up around the city, citizens were required to stay indoors in order to prevent further injuries, as there was a whole bunch of alien materials lying around New York City.
Peter had not told any more lies, as they had stuck to talking about school assignments or assorted Nerdy things. MJ couldn’t wait to get back to school. She wanted to start her investigation as soon as possible.
One week later, and the shelter in place order was lifted. Their school had gone back into session, and MJ waited and watched as Peter strolled down the hallway while talking to Ned. She noted that he looked kind of rough. He had a new scar on his head. It stretched from behind his left ear to the right side of his forehead. It was still really red.
She could see other students glance at Peter, and wonder where the scar came from, and what had happened, but no one dared to ask. She watched as they both approached his locker and Peter spotted her watching and motioned for her to join them.
She smiled, but she was sure that some of the worry still showed on her face as Peter spoke.
“Hey, MJ. I missed you. I’m fine. It’s just a nasty looking scar. I’ve got one on my arm too, but it’s worse, and I don’t want to show it. That’s why I’m wearing long sleeves. There’s no need to worry.” he said as he smiled at her.
MJ surprised him by hugging him tightly and she kissed him on the cheek and said “I missed you too, loser. Don’t do it again.”
MJ withdrew to see Peter blushing and Ned giggling. It qualified as their first kiss. MJ blushed when she realized that she had technically kissed him. Unfortunately for her, the bell rang only seconds after that happened and they had to part ways as they had different classes in the mornings. She would see him at lunch and after lunch though.
She was so relieved when the lunch bell finally rang. She sat at their normal table and waited for her two nerdy friends to arrive. She had heard Betty talking earlier in the day, and she could hear gossip going around the school all day about how Peter is some sort of hero.
She was sure to keep up with everything so she could warn Peter if anyone got close to the actual truth. It would help if Peter knew that she knows his secret. The newest rumor/ source of gossip was that Peter had shielded someone from getting hit by debris while on his way home from getting sick during the field trip.
Betty had falsely claimed that Peter had gotten the scar on his head from a piece of concrete debris that had fallen off of a building while he had been walking home from the field trip. She didn’t even find it suspicious that Peter supposedly walked all the way from Manhattan to his place in Queens.
MJ rolled her eyes at the utter naivety of her classmates. Her classmates may be book smart, but they were definitely not common sense smart. None of them dared to approach Peter though. They all just wanted to keep spreading the rumor instead of approaching the actual subject of their rumors.
MJ talked to both Ned and Peter at lunch, and she noted that Peter barely used his left arm anymore. She assumed that it was the one that he had hurt during whatever happened with the fight after he left the bus during the MoMA trip.
She didn’t ask about it, but she did keep a close eye on him. She noticed that his left arm would twitch every once in a while, and that Peter could still move his hand, but it was limited. She noticed that if Peter moved his arm a certain way, he would cringe in pain. She knew better than to ask about it though. Something that bad can only come from a traumatic event, and she didn’t want to cause a panic attack.
The day went smoothly after that as she and Peter had a few similar classes after lunch. She stuck close to his side and always made sure to help him when she could tell that he was getting drowsy or that his arm was bothering him.
Near the end of her last class, she kept close watch as Peter paled. She knew that whatever was wrong with his arm was hurting him. She subtly ushered the teacher over and requested permission to take Peter to the nurse. The teacher agreed once she saw that Peter had gone pale.
MJ led Peter into the hall after picking up his bag and she helped him sit on the ground outside of the restrooms.
“Peter, what do you need? I know that your arm is bothering you, but I can’t help you unless you tell me. Please tell me what you need.” MJ concernedly asked.
Peter quietly responded with “Take me to the nurse. I forgot to take my medicine at lunch, and she’ll know what to do. My aunt already sent instructions and medications to the school that I have to take during the day.”
MJ helped Peter up again and let him lean on her as she led him to the nurse’s office. Before she got there, they ran into Principal Morita in the hallway who cringed when he saw that Peter was in pain.
“Mr. Parker. Miss Jones. I’m assuming that you’re heading to the nurse. I forgot to remind Mr. Parker to get his medicine at lunch. I apologize for that, Mr. Parker.” Principal Morita said as MJ’s eyes widened.
MJ knew that it was not normal for a Principal to pay particular attention to a student’s medical needs. She knew that it was extremely odd that Principal Morita knew that Peter was supposed to take medicine at a certain time.
MJ had noticed that teachers were paying really close attention to Peter all day. She wondered what all they knew about that she didn’t. She’d have to figure it out. She wondered if they all knew that he was Spider-Man. She also wondered if they knew the truth about what had happened to him after he left the bus.
Principal Morita opened the door for them when they got to the nurse’s office. MJ even heard the nurse scold Morita for failing to remind Peter to take his medicine during lunch. Principal Morita even seemed to cringe when she said that.
She heard him say something quietly to the nurse, but she couldn’t tell exactly what he said. She hated that she couldn’t figure everything out yet, but she was prepared to investigate. She would get to the bottom of things.
The nurse soon gave Peter his oddly colored medicine. Peter relaxed into MJ’s side and dozed off. The nurse smiled softly at them. Normally, two students weren’t allowed to stay so close together, but the nurse knew that the boy had been through so much the past few weeks, and she wouldn’t say anything.
MJ was entirely confused as to why the nurse and Principal Morita allowed her to stay with Peter. She figured that it was because it was so close to the end of the day. A few minutes after Peter dozed off, MJ noticed that he received a text. She didn’t want to pry, but she noticed that it was from a contact called Iron Dad.
MJ smiled at that. She knew that it was Tony who had texted Peter. She had seen Peter and Tony grow closer over the past year. She had watched as Peter came into the school with higher spirits after having lab time with Tony. She knew that Peter also spent more time at the compound over the weekends.
Peter didn’t talk about his time at the Compound very much, but she knew that they had grown closer. Especially since Stark showed up at every school event since he started mentoring Peter. She figured that Tony was probably a new father figure. She was extremely happy that Peter had someone else like that in his life right now. He had been devastated when his uncle died, and Tony Stark had been a part of helping him recover emotionally, and she would be forever grateful to Tony for that.
The bell rang soon but MJ stayed in place. She always walked home anyways, so she didn’t need to wait for someone to pick her up. Less than fifteen minutes later, Happy Hogan walked into the nurse’s office.
Happy smiled at her and told her that he would handle it from there. She watched as he woke Peter up and let him lean on him. She walked behind them and watched as Happy gently helped Peter into the back of his Audi. She watched as they drove away.
She knew that Hogan had also become an important fixture in his home as Happy and his Aunt had begun to date a few months ago. She supposed that Happy was the one that always drove Peter to the compound on the weekends. She wouldn’t doubt it if Stark shared custody of Peter with his aunt.
MJ walked home and kept her thoughts to herself. She vowed to herself that she would always pay attention to Peter and figure out the true details of what actually happened when he left that bus on the way to MoMA. She knew that it couldn’t have been anything good if it left him in such a weakened state.
A few weeks after that, she noticed that the rumors had changed slightly. At that point, everyone around the school had also figured out that his left arm was hurt during the attack after he left the field trip. MJ overheard Betty’s newest rumor on that topic. She heard Betty say that Peter was still a hero, but that he took on one of the attacking aliens himself in order to save a kid, and that the alien had damaged his arm and given him the scar on his head.
MJ rolled her eyes. She wondered how that girl ever wanted to be a reporter if all she ever bothered to do was spread rumors and gossip that could prove to be inaccurate. No one had even bothered to ask Peter what had happened, but MJ was actually happy about that.
MJ had noticed that Peter knew the rumors were going around about him, but that he didn’t really care as long as they weren’t saying anything rude. She had also taken note that Flash had stopped bothering Peter. That had really mystified her.
She had seen Flash go pale when he noticed the scar on Peter’s head, and it had surprised her when Flash didn’t say anything to Peter. It seemed that Flash believed Betty’s gossip and didn’t dare to bad mouth the heroic one in their grade.
MJ was actually grateful for that. She hadn’t had to call him out for being rude in a long time. She had noticed that Peter also wasn’t near as fatigued now as he had been a few weeks ago. He had regained his natural complexion instead of looking pale and sickly all the time.
A couple of months after that, the rumors and gossip were still going strong. No one had even been guessing that Peter was Spider-Man. She had noted that there were no appearances of Spider-Man in Queens ever since that Battle near the MoMA, but she couldn’t prove that he was Spider-Man yet. She didn’t have enough evidence to approach him about it yet.
It soon became the last month of school, and it seemed that Peter had regained complete control of his left arm. She knew that there was still scarring there, but she had noticed that he had gone back to using it more. During their third period, there was a loud blast that came from across the city.
MJ watched as Peter’s head shot up quickly from where he was looking at his class’s worksheet. She noticed that he was extremely distressed, and most of their classmates were in a similar state, but she feared that Peter was distressed for a much different reason.
MJ watched as Peter raised his hand and requested to go to the restroom. Their teacher for that period was Mr. Dell who immediately released Peter to go to the restroom. MJ soon requested to go as well, and Mr. Dell reluctantly let her. It would be suspicious if he let one student go, but not another.
MJ followed Peter quietly and watched as he exited the school behind the gym. She knew for a fact that there were a few cameras back there. She watched as Peter rolled up the sleeve of his left arm, which was heavily scarred, and pressed a button on his wrist watch. MJ watched in fascination as the Iron Spider suit formed around him.
She watched as Peter swung away to whatever had caused that explosion across the city. She was more worried than she ever had been before. Her surveillance had paid off. She had watched the teachers pay particular attention to Peter’s activities and automatically release him whenever something like this happened. She had watched them let Peter leave the campus early sometimes after threats were stopped. She had watched them give him special privileges.
MJ had no clue what had gone on during the time while Peter was gone from the trip to the MoMA. She now knew for sure that her best friend, almost boyfriend, was Spider-Man. She had to figure out who all knew. MJ glanced at the surveillance cameras and decided to approach Principal Morita first. He’s the one who had primary access to the school’s security cameras.
MJ returned to class after her suspicions were confirmed. Betty’s gossip had been partially incorrect, but it had been true that Peter was a hero. They just had no clue how much of a hero he actually was. MJ was distracted for the rest of the day. She noticed that Peter had never returned to school. None of their teachers had commented on it.
MJ left her last class as soon as the bell rang, barely noticing that Ned was trying to talk to her. He had noticed the slightly worried look on her face when she had returned to their after lunch class.
“MJ, what’s wrong? You’ve been looking kind of queasy ever since you got back from the restroom.” Ned said.
“It’s nothing, Ned. Have you heard anything from Peter ever since he left school during our class after lunch.” MJ questioned.
Ned’s eyes went wide and she could tell that he was going to try and lie to her. He was awful at lying as exhibited during Homecoming the year before when he said that he’d been watching porn.
“Um, He had to go home. He got sick. He texted me and said that he was throwing up and all that stuff. He was like, violently ill.” Ned said unsurely.
MJ gave him a flat glare and calmly said “Ned, I know that didn’t happen, or else he would have texted me too. I know that you know what’s up. You may not realize it, but I could hear a few of you two’s conversations before we became friends. I just got confirmation of my suspicions this afternoon. How long have you known?”
Ned tried to avoid the question, but MJ’s glare convinced him to tell the truth.
Ned sighed and said while making web shooting motions “I’ve known ever since a little before Homecoming last year. I’m assuming that we’re talking about his night job.”
MJ nodded, and didn’t even notice that Betty was standing around the corner listening in to their conversation.
MJ said “Yeah, I figured. Let’s go talk to Principal Morita about his night job. I’m fairly sure that they all know, considering that they all let Peter leave class whenever a crisis happens in New York City.”
Betty went to leave, but before she could, MJ turned the corner and saw her. MJ frowned when she saw her.
“Betty, how much did you hear?” MJ questioned seriously.
Betty shrugged and nervously said “Um, not much. Just that Peter has some sort of night job. It’ll make a good story I hope!”
MJ approached her and grabbed her wrist harshly. MJ watched as Betty’s phone fell from her hand. She knew that Betty had just recorded she and Ned’s entire conversation. She picked up Betty’s phone and ended the recording. She immediately deleted the recording much to Betty’s dismay.
“Hey! You can’t do that! That’s my phone!” Betty indignantly said.
“Yes, I can, Betty. I didn’t give you permission to record Ned and I’s conversation. Is this how you get all of your gossip and spread rumors? Do you just record everyone and listen to it all later and create your false conspiracies?” MJ angrily said.
Betty cowered under MJ’s harsh glare and responded “I just wanted to keep the story alive. I know that Peter’s some sort of hero, but I don’t really know much. I know that I’m not really a good reporter, but I want to be, and this story is helping me because it’s letting me improve my investigative skills.”
MJ rolled her eyes and said “Betty, if you want to be a good reporter, you have to know the whole story first. You can’t just overhear someone’s conversation and assume that you know the whole story. That’s false reporting and it’s considered to be gossip. I don’t suggest that you keep investigating like that unless all you ever want to write for are those worthless tabloids that we all see!”
Betty had begun to cry by that point, but MJ hadn’t backed down. She was right. It was very wrong to report false news and spread rumors, even if they painted the person in a positive light. MJ had dropped Betty’s phone to the floor a while back and Ned had picked it up.
Ned watched as the two girls bickered. He watched as Betty began to cry at MJ’s harsh but true words. He listened as Betty agreed to try and do better. He knew that Betty had the potential to be a good reporter, as she was the head of the school’s news and reporting club.
Ned approached cautiously and handed Betty her phone. Betty took it gracefully and fled the scene. MJ sighed in annoyance. She really hoped that Betty wouldn't start any rumors that Peter had some sort of mysterious night job. She was just glad that Betty hadn’t seen Ned do the hand motions.
Ned followed behind MJ as she headed towards the office. The school was almost empty of students other than the clubs. The next AcaDec meeting wasn’t scheduled until next week, so they had time to confront their principal.
MJ walked into the office and requested to meet with Principal Morita much to the secretary’s surprise. Principal Morita saw them and agreed to meet with them. He knew that MJ would likely be visiting him as he had watched the gym cameras and saw her watching Peter leave the school as Spider-Man.
Principal Morita shut his office door behind them and prepared for a serious conversation. Before he could say anything, MJ spoke.
“Principal Morita, I know that you look at the school’s surveillance quite often, and I would like to know if you saw anything suspicious on today’s cameras?”
Morita sat in his office chair and calmly replied “Miss Jones, what do you mean? I haven’t seen anything suspicious at all today.”
MJ continued with “Let me rephrase that, did you see Spider-Man on your cameras today? I witnessed him swinging away from here earlier today, and I was wondering if you caught him on camera.”
Morita smiled and said “Oh, that. Yes, I saw Spider-Man on one of our Gym’s cameras today. It’s not very unusual though. I see him in our area quite often. He might like to hang out on the school’s roof or something like that.”
MJ smiled and said “So, you wouldn’t happen to know who Spider-Man is, would you?”
Morita smiled and responded “I cannot confirm Spider-Man’s identity if that’s what you’re asking. All I know is that he comes around here quite often. I can’t say much more than that though.”
MJ smiled and said “Thanks, Principal Morita. That’s all we wanted to know. Just know that if you ever figure out his identity and reveal it or threaten him in any way, both of us will come after you.”
Morita snickered and said “I wouldn’t expect anything different, Miss Jones. It’s nice to know that our local hero has a couple of great supporters on his side. Next time you see him, tell him that Midtown welcomes him. We’ve already had to sign NDAs courtesy of Tony Stark, and we really don’t want to get on his or Spider-Man’s bad side.”
Ned and MJ then left. They were satisfied with their principal’s answer. He definitely knew that Peter was Spider-Man, but she was confident that the staff of Midtown High would keep his secret, otherwise, Morita would have ratted Peter out long ago with proof of his identity via the gym’s cameras.
Ned then said “So, when should I tell him that you know?”
MJ said “You don’t. I’ll tell him tomorrow if he comes to school. I’ve got a plan that I can perform. If it works, I’ll tell him then. You’ll know what my plan is as soon as I bring it up with Peter.”
Ned’s eyes widened and he said “You’re going to ask him out aren’t you?! Are you finally going to do it? He’s too shy to make the first move! Please do it! You two obviously belong together!”
MJ blushed and said “Yeah, that’s part of my plan. You can’t tell him though. I want it to be a surprise.”
Ned nodded and said “That’s cool. I can keep a secret. Please do it as soon as possible though!”
MJ snickered and nodded. They soon parted ways, as they both walked home from their school. MJ pondered what she would do to ask Peter out. She was both nervous and excited to ask him out.
The next day she went to Peter and Ned at Peter’s locker and conversed with them as usual. Ned somehow remained calm, but she could see in his eyes that he was excited to see what she would do. She would wait until lunch to ask him out.
Lunch came much quicker than she had wanted it to, and she was quite nervous. She watched as Peter and Ned sat at their table and she geared herself up to ask the question. She saw Ned glance at her and nod as if saying ‘do it now’.
MJ breathed in heavily and said “Hey, Peter, may I ask you something?”
Peter nodded and motioned for her to continue.
“Well, I really like you, and I was wondering if you wanted to go on a date after school this Friday?” she questioned as she saw Peter’s eyes widen and Ned actually squealed.
Peter nodded and awkwardly said “Yeah, sure. That’s cool. I really like you too. I didn’t think that you liked me like that. I’d love to go on a date.”
MJ rolled her eyes at Peter’s admission. She wasn’t surprised that Peter had thought that. She had tried to hide her feelings, but Ned had obviously noticed that she liked him.
“So, where would you like to go? Do you want to have some sort of roof top date, or do you want to go to your place with May’s supervision?” MJ questioned.
Peter replied with “If my aunt says it’s okay, we can go to my place and watch movies. I know that you don’t like being around people too much, and I like indoor movie nights, so I think that it would be a great first date. Would that be fine if May says it’s okay?”
MJ smiled and said “Yeah. That sounds great. I’ll bring the popcorn.”
Lunch ended soon and both she and Peter were elated. They had a date in two days. Peter had a couple of people to text. He had to tell Tony that he’d be coming to the Compound a little later as he had a date that Friday. He’d already texted May who approved the date. She knew that her nephew was a responsible teen, so she wasn’t worried at all. Plus, she’d be on her own date with Happy that night as well.
Friday came quite quick after that, as both teens were excited for their date. Happy had come to pick Peter up, and MJ’s Aunt Anna Watson-Jones allowed her to go home with him. Her husband had died when MJ was little, but she kept the Jones name and took MJ in when her father abandoned her. Anna had met Peter a few times and she trusted him.
They soon arrived at Peter’s building and Happy parked. He walked up the stairs with them, as their elevator was still out. MJ and Peter soon arrived to see that May was already wearing her date attire. She greeted them warmly and told them to have fun on their first date. She then left with Happy so that they could have their own date night.
MJ sat on the couch after hanging her backpack on one of the hooks by the door. Peter put his things in his room and joined her on the couch. MJ knew that this was her opportunity to bring the important subject up.
“Hey, Peter, there’s something important I need to talk to you about.” she said as Peter frowned.
“Okay. What’s up MJ?” Peter cautiously questioned.
MJ sighed and blurted out “I know that you’re Spider-Man.”
She watched as Peter’s eyes widened and she heard him groan as he looked away from her.
Peter soon looked back towards her with teary eyes and questioned “Is that why you asked me on a date?”
MJ adamantly shook her head and said “NO! Of course not! I like you as Peter Parker! Spider-Man’s good, but Peter Parker is great! I’ve liked you since long before I figured out that you were Spider-Man. I started watching you more after the trip to MoMA. I listened as Betty spread rumors and gossip went around about you being a hero because she overheard Mr. Dell say that you were some sort of hero. I made up my own investigation because I was already suspicious that you were Spider-Man. I watched you because I liked you though, and I was worried for your safety. It just happened to align with helping my investigation.
When you left for the restroom the other day, I followed you and watched you sing away from the school as Spider-Man and noticed that you hadn't bothered to hide yourself from the school’s surveillance. I made sure that Morita and the others were keeping your secret. I wanted to be sure that you wouldn’t be hurt by someone trying to expose your identity. I was only 100% sure about it the other day. I’m sorry that I pretty much stalked you, but I was worried, and you’re one of my few true friends.”
Peter’s eyes had widened at MJ’s passionate words.
He responded by saying “Thanks, MJ. I didn’t know that you cared about me that much. Pretty much everyone that works at Midtown High knows my identity. Morita had been the first one to approach me about it when I rushed out to the gym one day without checking where the cameras were. I don’t mind the gossip too much though. The gossip actually paints a good image.
It’s right in that I am a hero, but I do hope that Betty never gets close enough to figure out my identity. Tony had everyone who works at Midtown high sign NDAs, so they know everything that has been going on with me ever since I was caught on camera. They take care of me and allow me to fulfill my heroic duty. They also make sure that I don’t forget to take my pain meds if needed. I suppose that I should tell you what actually happened to my arm and head now. I already told Ned, and now that you know my identity, I think it’s time that I tell you.”
MJ nodded and listened as Peter told her what actually happened after he disappeared from the bus.
“Well, I was drawn up into space with Mr. Stark and some weird Sorcerer or something. We crashed on some alien planet, and some mad alien guy was waiting there for us. The guy said some pretty disturbing things, and a fight broke out. He had a weird gauntlet that would have let him destroy half of all life, and we had to get it away from him. We succeeded after a lengthy fight. While I was on an alien spaceship, some weird aliens and an Earth guy came and told us that they were also there to take down the bad guy.
We all fought together, and when I was portalled over by the bad guy, he surprised me by taking hold of one of the Iron Spider suit’s legs, ripping it off, and striking me on the head with it. Mr. Stark got really mad at that and he shot a repulsor blast at him. It barely phased the guy, but then the Sorcerer portalle done of the new aliens onto the bad guy’s shoulders and she put him in a trance-like state. I and a few others were able to yank the gauntlet off of his arm before he could use it to get away. The Earth guy got really mad when the bad guy mumbled something about killing the guy’s girlfriend, and the Earth guy attempted to hit the bad guy’s face, but hit the alien girl’s hand in the process.
The bad guy was knocked out of the trance, and he went after me because I was holding the glove. I did my best to keep it away from him, and I glanced at the sorcerer who motioned for me to use the gauntlet. I put it on, and it somehow conformed to my hand’s shape. It hurt like crazy, and it’s what gave me all the scars on my left arm and put me in a coma for a week. The gauntlet didn’t have all of it’s powerful materials in it, but it did have enough to stop the bad guy and his army. I used it to attack the bad guy, and I was able to get rid of him.
The gauntlet almost killed me, and it would have, had Tony and the rest of the good aliens not joined hands and touched my shoulder when I put it on. They absorbed some of the power from the gauntlet as I used it and after we had defeated the bad guy and his army, I ripped the gauntlet off of my arm. My arm was severely scarred and I looked around to see the rest of the team in a similar state. Each of them had scarring like that on their hands or shoulders from where the gauntlet’s power touched them. I was the only one who slipped into a coma though because the power had been directly channeled through me. Mr. Stark, the sorcerer, the weird aliens, and that one Earth guy helped me save the world. That’s why I was in such a poor state when I returned to school.
The teachers know what I did to save the universe, but nothing about that battle is public knowledge. All that was released to the press was that it was only something like when Loki attacked back in 2012. We got lucky. Had we not stopped him there, we may not have been here right now, and I am grateful that I was there to help stop the bad guy. I’ve got scars from that battle that will never go away, but they remind me that I did it to save the world, and I don’t regret it at all.” Peter said as MJ teared up.
MJ hugged Peter without warning as Peter smiled and buried his head in her shoulder and hid his teary eyes.
MJ withdrew eventually and they shared a loving look.
“Thanks for telling me Peter. Now I can say that you’re truly my hero. You did save half of the universe after all.” MJ said as Peter snickered.
“Well, now that we’ve talked it all out, do you want to start the movies? I’m ready for some popcorn after that exhausting explanation.” Peter said as MJ smiled.
“Of course, my savior. Only the best movies and popcorn for the best hero in our world.” MJ said as Peter snickered.
“All I ask is that you don’t give me special treatment, and please quit calling me savior. It makes me uncomfortable. Ned freaked out so much when I told him what had actually happened.” Peter said as MJ got up and started making the popcorn.
“I bet. It’s no problem, loser. You’re always my loser anyway, so I’ll call you whatever you want me to call you. I like you very much, Peter Parker, and I will never give you special treatment just because you happened to save the world that one time.” MJ said as Peter laughed.
Their first date went on as they watched many movies and fell asleep while sitting together on the couch. May had arrived to see them cuddled up together on the couch while a movie played in the background. She took a picture and sent it to Tony. She was happy that Peter had so many good people to support him.
Tony replied by saying “Thanks, May. Remember to tell Peter to come to the Compound this weekend. I’ve got to tell him that he’s going to be a big brother after all.”
May smiled as she read Tony’s last text. She was happy that at least for now, everything was right with their world.
