Work Text:

It’s the first day of Seungkwan’s part-time work at a cafe near their university. His shift starts at 4 pm and ends at 6 pm. The timing is just right because his class ends at 3 pm, and he still has an hour to prepare for his shift.

“Hey, Seungkwan!” someone called him that made Seungkwan turn around because he is still fixing his things. “Vernon!” he greeted as soon as he saw who it is. It’s his long-time best friend, Vernon.

“Can I go with you later?” the younger asked.
“On my work? You can but...” he trailed off.
“But what?”
“You have to order something. It’s the cafe’s rules. You can not just sit there.”

“That’s all? Sure, I’ll treat you also.” he looked confident.
“That is my best friend!” Seungkwan nudged him, earning a chuckle from Vernon. “But...” he placed his arm around the older’s shoulder. “What is it?” Seungkwan looked at Vernon, confused.

“You have to treat me in your first salary,” he smirked. “That’s all?” he imitated Vernon’s tone earlier. “Hey! Promise me,” he offered his pinky. “Aren’t promises meant to be broken?” Seungkwan playfully smirked. Vernon looked at him quite madly. “Bye. Gotta go!”

Seungkwan ran out of the classroom and went to their dorm to prepare for his shift later.

While he’s walking home, his phone suddenly vibrated. He pulled it out to see the notification.

It’s his mother, wishing him good luck with his job for today. His expression went from happy to sad because of one thing. It is because his boyfriend hasn’t texted him.

I haven’t heard from him since lunch. He thought.

“Good luck on your first day, Seungkwan,” Jeonghan and Seungcheol said. They are the owners of the cafe that he will be working. “Thank you. I will not disappoint you two!” he bowed and smiled at them.

It’s been almost half an hour since that certain customer arrived and he hasn’t ordered anything yet. He was wearing sunglasses and a bonnet. The customer kept on glancing and staring at the part-timer. Seungkwan looked at the suspicious guy and decided to talk to him because it is in the rules that you can’t stay inside for long without ordering anything.

“Uhm, hello? Are you going to order anything now, sir? I was instructed to ask you again because it is against our rules,” Seungkwan said as he draws the notepad and the ballpen from his apron’s pocket.

The guy just coughed and started to remove his bonnet and sunglasses.

His voice is very familiar to me. He thought as he waited for the man to speak up.

“Is ‘staring at my boyfriend while he works’ against the rules too?” the man revealed himself to Seungkwan. It’s his boyfriend, Mingyu.
