you had me at first selfie

Summary:

Jisung groaned as his phone beeped on the bed beside him. Who on earth was messaging him this early in the morning? It had to be really early since his alarm hadn’t even rung yet.

Muttering to himself he squinted through his lashes at his phone screen trying to read the notifications.

Staring back at him was a picture of a cat that he had never seen before.

Jisung’s eyes were fully open now.

This was most definitely not his phone!

But whose phone was it? And where the heck was his own phone?
______

In which Jisung ends up switching phones with a stranger who owns three cats and is obsessed with taking heavily filtered selfies. Oh and Jisung might have just have a crush on selfie boy even though they’ve never met...

Chapter Text

Music played loudly from the speakers that were located in every possible corner as the party got into full swing.

It made Jisung want to dance and sing and let all his emotions go with the flow of the beat.

Jisung wished he wasn’t so bothered by the thick crowds of people or he would be in the center of the dance floor.

But since he was bothered and more than a little anxious, he contented himself with tapping his foot along to the music from the barstool he currently sat on.

The song that was playing ended and the DJ switched right into the next track without missing a beat.

Whoever it was, they were good.  Hyunjin had mentioned that Chan was supposed to DJ at some point during the evening and used that fact to bribe Jisung to be his plus one.

But due to the crowd currently mobbed around the dance floor Jisung couldn’t tell who was blasting out the tunes at such a fierce pace.

Ugh, why had he agreed to tag along to this party anyways and where on earth was Hyunjin who literally begged him and then dragged him along despite all his protests?

Probably outside on the deck where they were playing drinking games, Jisung guessed.

But if the big open family room had this many people crowded into it, outside was worse.  He could hear loud drunk cheers over the exceptionally loud music, so no he wasn’t going to go outside to try and find his friend.

Nuh uh, no way.

Speaking of which he really should look for Changbin instead, because that was the whole reason he’d been dragged here in the first place.

Because Hyunjin had a crush on Changbin.

And Changbin had said he might be at the party this evening.

Jisung slipped off his barstool and picked his phone up off the counter beside him, hoping to either find Changbin or somewhere less crowded.

Either option would be better than this.

He glanced one last time at the dance floor longingly.  His hurried glance turned into outright staring.

In the midst of all the swaying chaotic dancing was the most beautiful being he had ever seen.

Where everyone else was just randomly moving to the rhythm, this person knew how to dance.

Their movements were effortless yet powerful and Jisung let out a breath he didn’t know he was holding.

The beautiful dancer had his back to Jisung, but the view couldn’t have been better. He wore a beautiful midnight blue silky shirt with tight black pants and black boots that came almost to his knees.

His hair was a stunning auburn shade that was perfectly styled from what Jisung could see. His heart pounded in his chest.

The room felt uncomfortably warm suddenly.  It must be the alcohol that he’d been sipping now coursing though his veins.

He found himself crossing his fingers and hoping the dancer would turn around.  But to no avail. And after a few minutes (Jisung has lost sense of time somewhere after the first 30 seconds) whoever the dancer was dancing with pulled them further into the thickly crowded dance floor.

The last glimpse Jisung got was of a dangling silver earring catching the light as the dancer slipped between other people and disappeared from sight.

He sighed as disappointment welled up in his chest.

Oh please what am I even staring for Jisung bemoaned to himself. It’s not like I could even start a conversation with him even if he had turned around. Me and my self-conscious ass.

Shaking his head at his silly thoughts.  Jisung made his way out of the room and began his search for Changbin.

He wasn’t really close friends with Seo Changbin...yet (by the end of the semester Jisung hoped they would be besties).

But he could at least say they were closer than mere acquaintances.

Which was more than Hyunjin could claim.  That being exactly why Hyunjin had wanted Jisung to come along.  “You know him so it won’t be weird to go to the party if you come!”

“I don’t know him that well, we just happen to both be studying music so we see each other at classes and stuff” Jisung had retorted.

“Yeah well I don’t even have any classes with him so you’re coming” Hyunjin had thrown right back.

Hyunjin was majoring in dance and had literally no reason to be anywhere near the music department.

Although he often found some excuse or another to meet up with Jisung after classes in hopes of ‘casually’ running into Changbin.

After going through several rooms Jisung finally found Changbin and Hyunjin together.

He barely tried to stifle an exasperated sigh.

If they were going to be like this anyways he really hadn’t had to come.

Hyunjin had a look of absolute admiration on his face as he listened to Changbin explain something.

Yeah they were cute together Jisung admitted.  Really cute.

Not wanting to interrupt Hyunjin and his crush he was about to go back the way he came when Changbin spotted him. “Hey Jisung” he greeted with a slight nod of his head.

“Hey, you finally made it?” Jisung replied a bright smile lighting up his face for the first time tonight.

There was something just pleasant about Changbin’s company. He had a calm assured aura about him which Jisung couldn’t help but admire.  Some people called him hard to read and stubborn. But Jisung could tell he was really just a marshmallow inside.

“Yeah I thought I’d stop by and check on Chan, is he still DJ-ing in there?”

“I believe so?” Jisung replied and then on impulse added “maybe could you introduce me sometime? He has some amazing beats and I would love to get his input on a couple things I’ve been working on for class.”

Chan was a legend in the music department. He aced all his classes and then some.  It was no secret that Christopher Bangchan was some kind of musical genius.

“Yaahh of course I’ll introduce you to Chan! I actually was talking to him about you this morning, I overheard you practicing the other day and I liked it. I think he would too.”

Jisung tried not to blush “oh...really...that’s...that’s great! My stuff isn’t really that good yet honestly though” he replied shuffling his feet a little nervously.

Changbin smacked him on the shoulder “Don’t be like that, if I said you’re good, you’re good. No ones perfect from day one, but some have talents that give them a head start. You have to know you have talent in order to harness it.”

If only it were that simple Jisung caught himself thinking as he nodded in reply.

Boy he must have had a bit more to drink than he’d thought.  He can feel his head throbbing in echo of the noise coming from the party.

Jisung looked over at Hyunjin who seemed at ease in Changbin’s presence already.  Since things were going so well that meant Jisung could make his exit. The sooner the better.

“Well umm I think I’m gonna call it a night I have some assignments to catch up for school and it’s already a bit late” Jisung said nodding his head towards the door.

“Nooo!!! You can’t leave me here alone!” Hyunjin whined as he latched onto Jisung’s arm and playfully swung it back and forth.

Jisung rolled his eyes and teased him back “Why not?  Are you going to miss me baby?” he puckered his lips and made a kissy face at Hyunjin for extra flourish.

“Ack no, why are you like this!” Hyunjin dropped his arm hurriedly.

Jisung couldn’t stop himself from laughing at the expression on Hyunjin’s face.

“I was kidding ok...besides you won’t be alone...Changbin will be here, right?” Jisung said with a barely concealed wink in Hyunjin’s direction before he turned to look at Changbin, raising an eyebrow questioningly.

“I’ll be here for awhile until Chan’s finished probably, so you’re welcome to hang out...” Changbin answered looking at Hyunjin.

Hyunjin gave Jisung his signature “I hate you but I love you so I’ll kill you later” look before replying to Changbin with a very shy “If I won’t be a bother.”

Jisung tried really hard not to make gagging sounds, that would really embarrass his REALLY EMBARRASSING friend.

“Well that’s settled, so I’ll be off” he managed to eek out instead. Waving at the two of them he headed out the front door with a parting shot of “See you guys at school tomorrow, be safe and play nice!”  before he ducked out and made a beeline for the cars parked out on the street.

He knew Hyunjin would most definitely have his revenge later for that last line, but it was so worth it.

It was late but Jisung managed to catch one of the last buses of the evening and once seated safely on board he promptly fell asleep.

A short while later he was woken up by a kind elderly lady asking him which stop was his so he didn’t miss it. He thanked her profusely as he most likely would have slept all the way to the depot.  He hadn’t realized just how tiring of an evening it had been, that and he may have had a little bit too much to drink.

Studying would have to wait till tomorrow.  His head was all fuzzy from sleep and alcohol.  He yawned and stretched, dragging his feet as he got off at his stop.

When he finally stumbled into bed his last coherent thought was of sending Hyunjin a text to tell him he had reached home and also one last dig about his crush.

He grabbed his phone and hit the home button, but it didn’t come on.

Darn, he’d forgotten to charge it again. Oh well teasing Hyunjin could wait till tomorrow.  He plugged his phone into the charger and curled up under the covers, losing himself to a deep and dreamless sleep.
