Work Text:
Execution had not planned for this.
“Keep it up, you’re doing stupendously!” he yelled to his followers. In truth, he was scared, but he needed to be calm. He needed to keep a level head. For them. For his cult. He was their leader. Their example. He couldn’t panic now!
He was distracted from his thoughts by the sound of one of the barriers going down. The Blue Demon kept shooting. It kept fueling the flames. Why couldn’t it open its mind and give the teachings of their cult a chance? There was no hope for this creature, if it could not open its mind instead of destroying everything it touched in a blind rage towards everything different from it.
As the last barrier went down, he looked down. He didn’t like looking down. He was forced to hold back tears every time he looked down and saw his followers being slaughtered like cattle by the Blue Demon. But then he noticed a mistake the Demon made. He had left a small opening. It was a chance. A chance he could save them. A chance he could win. He ordered all of his followers to swarm the Demon. To destroy it, so at least some of his cult could live on.
But, despite his efforts it didn’t work. The Blue Demon swerved out of the way of his followers with extreme precision. Execution called off the order, realizing there was nothing he could do. The remaining glass shattered. The lasers started cutting into his flesh. Out of the blind sense of self preservation shared by all creatures, he started firing. But inside he knew it wouldn’t be enough. So in his last moments, with the lasers cutting into his core, he started praying.
“O gracious and wonderful God, in my last moments, I ask you to avenge us and purge this despicable demon from the universe.”
“From the Bottom of my heart, I ask you to destroy this demon and save the world from its xenophobic reign of terror.”
“Save them O glorious God.”
“Save them, almighty Xulgon.”
END
