“Pay attention to me.”
It seems that Albedo is aware that you are indifferent to the present situation.
Both hands placed beside you, giving him a cold shoulder in an attempt to fail him deliberately. The distance between you and him may be close to see but when it comes to senses, it is a great distance compared how much you described it through words.
“I am,” You replied nonchalantly.
Which stunned him by how you really listen ear-to-ear to him, especially the way you talk. It caused the words that are arranged perfectly in his mind to suddenly shatter without any warning.
His hands began to tremble. “Why?”
It wasn’t supposed to end this way.
Day by day, night by night he spent with you starting to haunt his mind. How your smile and honeyed laugh illuminate his day. How your presence fills his empty spot, truth to be told you ’re the one and only who could do that. How your fingers fit the way he holds your hand and you swing it around gives him a thing he couldn’t get from anyone but you.
Albedo is capable of drawing a whole sketch about you, anything that reminds him of you, he would commemorate it with every single media he could do.
Then you lifted your head, be quiet for a while before starting to speak.
“Those butterflies that once occupied my stomach no longer existed.”
Next second you get up.
“Thank you for everything, Albedo.” Shooting him a soothing smile before making a way to the front door and leaving Albedo frozen on his spot.
Before he completely ignores the opportunity, Albedo quickly catches you prior to your hands reaching the door handle. He grabbed your wrist firm, yet gentle.
His guise is conspicuous to you. Weariness look on his face doesn’t seem to bother you like it used to, weird yet relief.
“Please just stay with me. For one moment at least.”
You remained silent later on facing him after letting out a sigh. “Why is it?”
“You were the only person I could trust.”
“And yet you still cannot put your belief in me to manage our time?”
Albedo was stunned but quickly gathered himself together,
“B-but you knew that we tried to stick together from time to time.”
“You have a point. But, the nights where I was alone, that doesn’t count, right ?”
It’s ironic. You know both of you have tried to keep the relationship alive, it should be fine but there is a thing that has been doubtful with you lately. Actually only you are aware of it first, the miscommunication between Albedo and you was inevitable.
With that you’re the one who tried to keep it alive while Albedo is busy with his experiments. Things like sending him messages and making calls multiple times wasn’t fully necessary, after what you get through.
Of course Albedo doesn’t know what happened to you. His focus was always placed on either his experiments or his expeditions. There are few times where Albedo would spare a time to know how have you been, what are you up to, just in order to fulfill his worries .
Those golden eyes were fluttered, the weariness still lingered on his guise. His head flopped down, it seemed the audacity to meet your gaze went vaporizing.
“Don’t—,” Albedo mumbled, “don’t let me go.”
“Albedo, please don’t make this harder than it already is.”
You managed to let go from his grasp and vaguely you can hear his sobs start to fill the air. Your chance to talk is immediately cut off by Albedo sigh. He then set his eyes on you.
“Then … Can I have a last hug?”
“Sure,” You nodded with a small smile plastered on your lips.
In no matter of time, Albedo pulled you to his embrace. Face reckoning your crookneck inhaling deeply your scent. Albedo wants this to be eternal in his memories of you; your scent, your smile, your touch, your laugh, your love .
The moment he starts crawling to your face, you immediately place your hands on his chest to prevent him from going further.
“You are only asking for a hug.”
“Right,” He let out a low chuckle. Awkwardness started creeping up his nerves, “But we’re still friends, right?”
“I'll try, Albedo.”
Albedo smiled bitterly, “It’s okay. I understand. You can leave.”
And with that, you left.
