"Stupid. Fuckin'. Cunt." Miles's eyes were bloodshot, his lips curled back in a fierce snarl.
"Hey, what's wrong, Mi? Why're you awake and shoutin' so bloody early in the mornin'?" Alex yawned and wrapped his arms around Miles as he leant his head on the crook of his shoulder. "What's got you so upset?"
Miles took a deep breath and rubbed his forehead.
"I went to the shops for some bifters, an' a few bits and bobs, like. I were stood there in the queue for about a minute or so, when outta nowhere this stupid arsehole pushes me trolley to get past me! 'Excuse me, lad,' says I, not thinkin' it were anythin' unwarranted or especially impolite. Oh, but the stupid little cunt raged at me, 'well, excuse me! That was pretty rude.' Then 'e turned round to the cashier and said 'e wanted to speak to the manager! For fuck's sake! I just shook me head, left the trolley there, and left before I could say or do summat I knew I'd regret."
He looked at their reflection in the mirror and touched Alex's nose and lips. "You asked, love. That's it, 'the whole enchilada,' as that arsehole would've said. An American tourist, by the sound of him. A tourist at a time like this. What a twat!"
Alex drew Miles's finger into his mouth and gently bit him. He loved the heat that flared up in Miles's dark eyes, that coloured his cheeks and made them ruddy.
"Enough of tha'." Miles smiled wanly and turned around, disentangling himself from Alex's hold. Alex frowned and sniffed in frustration. "Alright, Mi. If you say so. What's on the agenda for today?"
Miles yawned. "I've got a video conference at 9.00 that'll probably last until noon. We can go to a cafe for tea and sandwiches, if you want to. Then I'll 'ave to head to the studio to see what I can get done the rest of the day. What about you? Aren't you and the lads workin' on a new record, too?"
Alex blushed and nodded sheepishly. "Yeah, we are. We were. We went to Butley in Suffolk for a working holiday back in late June, early July. And we got back just days before...you know."
"Yeah." Miles traced Alex's lower lip with his thumb. With his free hand he took Alex's chin, tipped his head back and kissed him.
Alex sniffled and closed his eyes, grabbing fistfuls of Miles's shirt. For a few moments they stood still, the only discernible sounds the wet smacking of their lips meeting and Alex's increasingly pornographic moaning.
Reluctantly, Miles broke the kiss, put his hands on Alex's shoulders and pushed him away.
"Hang on, reign it in, Al. We can do this after my video call, alright? I promise. Just gi' me a few hours, and I'm yours for the rest of the day. We'll order takeaway, and I'll phone and tell them I can't go in the studio today. How's that?"
Alex grinned.
