Arrogant Teenagers

Summary:

The shade of Tom Riddle call for the Basilisk. He's surprised when the Basilisk doesn't answer.

Work Text:

Harry opened the giant iron door of the Chamber of Secrets. He was greeted with the unfortunate familiar sight of the long chamber, its various stone snakes each sides and the giant statue of Salazar Slytherin on the other end where Ginny lay under. Harry slowly ran toward the other end and stopped a few feet away from the redhead.

"I know you are here." called Harry to the emptiness of the room.

Harry heard a slow clap coming from his left. Turning, he saw the shade of Tom Riddle walk toward him. "Bravo." he said, sounding amused. "I'm guessing the great Harry Potter figured it all out, then?" he asked with a drawling voice.

"I know that you are Tom Riddle, the Heir of Slytherin. You opened the Chamber of Secrets while possessing Ginny here. You are also known as Lord Voldemort."

Riddle looked impressed. "I should have expected it." he said. "After all... you did defeat me when you were but a baby."

"I didn't." said Harry truthfully. "My mother did."

Riddle slowly grinned. "I see. So there is nothing special about you then? Well, I guess I only have to get rid of you..." he said before turning toward the statue of Slytherin. ~Answer me, Slytherin, greatest of the Hogwarts Four!~

The mouth of the statue opened and Riddle let out a cold laugh. Harry rolled his eyes and waited... and waited...

~Basilisk!~ called Riddle, getting angry.

"Did you think I hadn't already got rid of it already?" asked Harry, rolling his eyes again. With a quick flick of the wand, he summoned Riddle's Diary while also unsheathing his goblin-forged basilisk venom-impregnated dagger.

"What are you doing?" asked Riddle with an ounce of fear.

"Getting rid of you." answered Harry simply. He dropped the diary on the ground and stabbed it. A pool of black ink spurted out of the diary as Riddle blew out in a show of lights. "Arrogant teenagers." snorted Harry before he walked toward Ginny. With a gasp, she woke up.

"Is he gone?" she asked.

"Did you think I was going to let my wife to his mercy?" grinned Harry.

Ginny grinned back. "Thank Merlin it's over." she said. "I knew it was necessary but I did not like having him in my head once again. My occlumency was tested to its limits."

"Sorry." apologised Harry, looking guilty. Ginny rolled her eyes and kissed him.

"I told you before we went back in time that it would be necessary." she said. "Don't blame yourself."

"Yes dear." said Harry with a smile. "Now let's get out of this shithole."
