Work Text:
“Nico?”
“Yes sir?”
“We’re friends, right?”
Nico’s face screwed up a bit in confusion, “I would hope so, sir.”
Will sighed, flopping back the rest of the way on to his bed, “Sometimes I wonder what all you keep from me, Nico. Is it enough to truly call us friends? Are you loyal to me, Nico? Loyal enough to tell me everything?”
Nico’s eyes were wide, and he took a step away from Will’s bed, “O-of course, sir, why-?”
“I learned of your past yesterday, Nico.”
Thick silence filled the room. Nico’s mind had come to a halt.
“Sir?” His voice was quivering just as much as his hands, which refused to stop their anxious movement.
“You know-” Will took a moment to prop himself up on his elbows, “I just wish you had told me.”
Nico broke down, letting out a sob and falling to his knees. Thick tears dripped from his face, and Will was by his side in a moment.
“Oh, Nico. Love, I don’t think any differently of you. You’re no less brave and strong and good.” Will gently hooked a finger under Nico’s chin, guiding him to look up, “I still love you.”
Nico’s tears came harder, and he flung his arms around Will’s neck, “I’m transgender” he whispered through the tears, face buried in the crook of Will’s neck.
“I know, love, and it’s okay.”
