Notes:

It's Sunday and I'm bored so I edited this. There is no need for you to re-read, it's till got the idea I intended for it intact. Be warned I haven't gotten anyway beyond season 3 in the anime or the manga and watched all three movies. I see a few spoilers here and there so a few thing will be based on those.

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

I.

Uraraka is best recognized as bubbly, friendly and optimistic, it is somewhat of a trade mark of hers — along with the green haired nerd she is constantly glued to. And it is due to these reasons she is belittled. She's constantly obscured by the nerd's shadow to the point her worth as a hero is never really noticed, never really thought about. It's always a bother watching her thrive in the fact she is the bottom of the barrel when in actuality she held within herself so much potential..

Then there was that good-for-nothing nerd. He was growing, in terms of bravery and quirk-wise. Everyone could see it, everyone notice how left behind they were when he was in proximity, it was common knowledge. He just kept improving incident after incident, whether it was fighting literal Yakuza or dangerous criminal organizations. They were stepping stones for his success.

It was a fact that frustrated him beyond anything.

Bakugou worked his entire life just so he could become a hero. He trained day in, day out all with his tears, blood and sweat poured into the fact that he wanted to become number one only for a quirk-less nobody to swoop in a steal everything he worked hard to achieve. No, he refuses to make that a possibility. He refuse to become like Uraraka, he refuse to step in someone else's shadow. If Deku trained hard he would train even harder. If Deku discovers another hided power of his quirk he would develop his to the best of his abilities.

II.

In the beginning Bakugou never really noticed her, not her name nor her quirk, just that her cheek were so round he could probably take a bite off each cheek. Not that he would. His focus had been steeled on Deku and the whirlpool of emotion he had upon meeting him in Yuuei. And the fact the quirkless nobody had a quirk only served to feed the underlying anger that crawl underneath his skin.

Why here of all places? Why now? The questions repeated itself over and over. His face was all he could, his name was all he could hear.

Midoriya. Midoriya. Midoriya. Midoriya. MIDORIYA!

(He felt betrayed. Why had he not told him about his new found quirk? Why was the last person to find out?)

You are not meant to be here.

He's about to explode. He could feel it crawling on his skin like insects, leaving it itchy and swollen afterward. Bakugou wanted badly to do something, to get rid of the itch, to scratch it till the surface of his skin bled.

So Bakugou went on to ridicule him, insult his effort and his abilities, and took pleasure in seeing the spark of hope in his eyes dim. He planned on making his stay in the school a nightmare. But then Uraraka would appear. 'You just can't go around treating people like they are beneath you', She would go on to say while she stood protectively beside Deku. And it never happens once. On multiple occasions she would defend the nerd.

It was endearing as well as annoying, but his pride wouldn't allow him to tolerate it. With that said, when the opportunity presented itself in the form of the Sport Festival he took it as his chance.

Originally, he had hoped to be face off against Deku, maybe rough him up a little or throw a few insults here and there, anything that would give him relieve and stop the itching but he got to face off his round cheeks friend. And as boulders came raining down on him - even with the knowledge of getting seriously hurt in mind - his adrenaline was at its peak. Excitement, he realized, was the feeling he had when facing the pink-cheeked girl.

To be honest he expected less from her. He expected a good fight that would last a maximum of three minutes then he would have her out. Instead, she gave it her all, determined to take him down and show everyone how wrong they were for doubting her abilities. And for a moment it was only them. No audiences, no Deku, just them and the thing was he loved that feeling. He never wanted it to end.

Except it did.

The girl collapsed, exhausted and beaten up from the match. Everyone blamed him for her condition, for not going easy on her. Bakugou paid no mind to them. His hands buzzed slightly with that exact feeling he had moments ago. Even as the girl was taken away to be treated he concentrated on the feeling, trying to memorize it. His fight with the Half and Half Bastard was never enough to produce that feeling. Even after seeing the loser's pained expression after hurting the girl didn't invoke that feeling nor subdue the burning rage within himself.

Now his body no longer itched to satisfy his rage, it yearns for that feeling.

Uraraka Ochako.

III.

During their first year Shigaraki Tomura and Dabi - later discovered to be Todoroki supposedly dead brother Touya - was captured. That did not stop the League of villains from terrorizing them every opportunity they got. And reporter ate news up. It was seen as a failure on Yuuei's part for failing to protect their student. Parent were also becoming hesitant about their kid’s safety. With the retirement of the Symbol of Peace and the added suspension of the number two hero, Endeavor, the hero school was under a lot of pressure.

During their second year Midoriya revealed to be successor All Might's successor and only told his closest friends about One for All. The news did not settle well with him - even after suspecting it for some time the confirmation was enough to feel like a slap to his face.

There was that burning sensation on his skin again, on his wrist. It was discovered that the burning he felt wasn't anger but rashes he got due to stress. It wasn't difficult to find out why, being a hero was more than what television displayed it to be. They had to learn to grow up, to experience events no person should ever experience. Having to deal with the idea that millions of people entrusted them with their live is enough to give each of them insomnia to last them for months.

But they learned to manage. With each of them find their own way of coping with trauma and improving to prevent the past from repeating itself.

Deku improved the most out of all of them. Something happen during the war that changed both his views of life and behavior? Bakugou isn't sure of how to go about describing it. It was not malice intent, that he was sure, it was similar to what he uses to see in himself except... lighter? He didn't know but he was sure it would cause a lot of headache in the near future.

Then there was Uraraka.

Every now and then his thoughts drifted off to the Sports Festival and how much of an improvement she had made over the years. So much so he wonders how a match between them would turn out to be that their current level of growth.

The excitement.

The exhaustion and adrenaline.

The smell of dust and sweat overclouding his senses.

On lucky days he got to the chance to spar with her or team up with her but never full out. Besides they were on their way to become full pledged heroes and working besides some of the greatest, there was no time to dilly dally around when people's lives were at stake. And although his urges had died down over time it still buzzed numbly, morphing into something foreign and warming. And not just the sensation he had felt on his hands but within his time it buzzes in his chest as well. Every time their gaze meet it was as though ting explosion set off in his heart. From the tip of his fingers to the ends of his toes, that feeling never fails to always send a pleasant vibration through him and his heart beats rapidly. He found himself staring at her hoping to have that same sensation run through him once more.

She was determining and willing, and soon he found himself noticing more things about her.

She loves sweets.

Her eyes shone with pride whenever her friends accomplish something.

She's super focused when she is concentrating on a task.

She cracks her knuckles when she's nervous.

She has an admirable reason for becoming a hero.

She was insecure about her ability as a her and her weight.

She likes Midoriya.

That last bit was a bit hard to digest. The rashes reappear when he thinks too much about it so he decides to not dwells on the thought for long. Besides Uraraka was more of a rival than a friend - although she believes otherwise - he had no rights to interfere with her life.

(Regardless of the constant need to be by her side, to shout to the world she was his. To hold her. To kiss her. To tell her he...)

Even with those thoughts he chucked it down as well. They were dangerous.

IV.

It was sudden.

One moment he was having a nice conversation with her about their current activities and hero life then the next thing he knew he had her pinned to the wall. Her legs wrapped around his waist. Hands grabbing and pulling on his hair with so much eagerness. Their lips and tongue danced in a heated battle of desire. Her small frame press against his very noticeable hard on. Her hips moving in a dangerous, agonizing motion.

Her taste. Her smell. Everything about her was enough to get him drunk on how addictive she was.

It was that feeling again - exciting.

He wanted more of her. He wanted to be with her just now, just the two of them.

Despite his wants and desires he pushed away. And when he looked at her, into those brown doe eyes he liked so much, he could see the hurt and confusion. He wanted more than anything to comfort her, to tell her he didn't mean to make her feel that way. But he didn't.

"I-I'm sorry." He heard from her before the door was slammed shut. He remained frozen still surprise by the change of events and as if snapped from his trance Bakugou processed what had happened between them.

The want and desire.

Her lips against his.

Her hurt expression.

He wasn't sure if it was the alcohol but his heart stung with an ache which seem to never stop.

He knew he shouldn't have come to the reunion. He knew he should have stuck to drinking water or juice the entire party. Damnit, he fucked up.

Fuck. Fuck. Fuck. Fuck. Fuck.

He wanted to chase after her and make things right but he couldn't. The next time he meets her, she avoids looking at him. It would have been easier if it weren't for the fact they were working in the same agency. This goes on for about a month before they finally spoke. She was the one to initiate it.

They were the last few people still in the agency during the time. They stood in awkward silence with her debating on what to say and he just standing there and resisting the urge to repeat what they did at the party.

"I'm really sorry for my action back at the party," she said in that soft tone he missed so much. "I wasn't thinking straight and I just-- I really didn't mean to make you uncomfortable."

He noticed the little pink dust on her already rosy cheeks. Adorable. Mentally shaking his head, he let out a sigh before saying, "It's fine."

No, it's not.

He wanted to ask her why she did it. He wanted to know if she also experienced that burning feeling as well. Whether she...

He walked away without a word, never turning back even when his insides scream for him to do so.

V.

Time changes a person - or so it's said - and over the years Bakugou has come to term with the fact he was madly in love with Uraraka. He had been in love with her during the Sport Festival. Loved everything about her and wanted her to live every moment with her.

But that chance was long gone.

The music played signifying the bride's arrival. She looked so beautiful in the foreign designed wedding gown with her father to her right. When she passed by she gave him a big smile and a tiny wave - to which he scoffed at playfully - before being wedded off to the man he causes so much pain in the past.

Midoriya Izuku.

He hoped the nerd knew how lucky he was to have a woman like her by his side.

He watched as they kissed forever sealing the promise they made to one another.

He watched them happily display their affection and care for one another.

The feeling was back again. That emotional spiral flowing wildly within him just waiting to pop and this time he knew what they were.

Pain.

Yearning.

Jealousy.

Hatred.

Love.

When Uraraka invited him to dance during the reception instead of her husband it was enough of a shook to get him to accept. It was kind of awkward on his parts, dancing slowly with the woman he loved on her wedding day but he tries not to be as stiff as he felt while she was with him.

"You know Bakugou." He hummed in response trying to concentration on his steps. "I thought you wouldn't come to the wedding."

He paused there.

"And why the fuck would you thing that?" She giggled a bit when he spins her around and he couldn't help but give a smile of his own.

"I don't know you're just you."

"The fuck did you say about me cheeks." Then she boasts into laughter making those little snorts of her that made fall for her over again. When it died down she rested her head on his chest, she could probably hear his beating heart. He didn't mind honestly.

"Thank you for coming Bakugou it means so much to me." She whispers quietly.

His heart squeezed painfully in his chest to the point he wanted to puke. He loved her so it worried him of how infatuated he was by her. Bakugou was sure he would scarify his hero career for her, maybe even destroy the world if she just asked. But it wasn't his place to do so, he lost his chances long ago. Nonetheless that didn't stop him from making her smile because it was enough for him. And if it's not with him by her side then so be it.

It hurt so much.

"Anything to make you happy."

Notes:

Yes, I did make it even sadder. Honestly didn't expected to change everything but oh well. The wedding reception thing was a last minute detail. This is just something I wanted to write because I couldn't participate in Kacchako week 2022.

Ciao.
