There have always been legends floating around, that this world was once very very different, it was full of magic and life, but has now lost that. It's even said that if you were lucky, you and your soulmate would've been reincarnated, but those were all children's tales, right? Albedo believed that too until one day, he met a young man that he feels he shared a strong connection with once before.

Work Text:

Albedo was never a people person. Not that he couldn't make friends… well actually he could but with some struggle, but he also preferred to spend time with himself. Others just weren't his style. At most he was acquainted with a few class members, and somewhat friends with Sucrose, who was a fellow, and only other member of the gardening club. For such a quiet girl she was rather devoted to her craft. It was admirable, even. Albedo took a few extracurriculars, well more than a few. He could be found in the greenhouse, art room, student council clubroom, or chemistry lab at any given moment when not studying for classes.
He looks over at his latest specimen, a qingxin he was testing, he was going to plant a batch for the school fair. He noticed it had begun to bloom, which was a miracle considering the conditions he grew it under. His plan was working. He picked it up and was going to walk over to the windowsill to let it get some sunlight when he heard the door open.
“Sucrose is that you?” But no response came. He walked over towards the greenhouse entrance, but when he turned the corner, he stood there in shock. There was standing a young and rather handsome man, dressed in a yellow hoodie and black slacks, carrying a large instrument case on his back. All of a sudden he had found an entirely new feeling. Somewhere, someplace, this person had been important to him before, somehow.
“Uhm, do you know where the music room is? I'm new here.” He spoke up.
“Oh… yes it's on the B building down that way, in room 215,” He said pointing with this finger. “Did you pick up a map at any point?”
“Oh uh, no…” the green-haired boy said averting eye contact. “Thank you for your help,” he said turning on his heel and leaving. Xiao. Just who are you?
---
Albedo gripped onto the folded pamphlet in his hands tightly as he changed his daily course. Averting the greenhouse, instead, he headed towards the B building after the day had ended, the one he had directed Xiao to just yesterday. Some feeling inside of him urged him to see this boy again. It was important. But yet he didn't know why. He gently opened the door, only to see the room was empty, he stepped inside, admiring the decorations strewn around. He set his bag down on the side.
“What are you doing here?” a familiar voice spoke up behind him. He jumped a bit, startled by the sudden intrusion, and turned around only to see Xiao again.
“Oh! I just thought that… you'd like this map,” he said extending the brochure in his hands.
“I see, thank you for the hospitality you've shown me since my arrival,” Xiao said taking the map from Albedo's hands. When he did, their fingers grazed each other's for a moment, but it was enough to make Albedo's stomach full with butterflies.
“Oh, no need for the formality! I simply felt that it was needed seeing as I’m a part of the student council after all.”
“Oh…” Xiao said in an almost disappointed tone, almost as if he was hoping Albedo was doing this all for him. “Would it be alright if you left now? I'm not that great at playing around other people yet…” he said fidgeting with his fingers.
“Oh yes, of course, see you around Xiao!” Albedo turned to leave the room, but just before he was about to, Xiao spoke up.
“Albedo, wait." Of course, he paused and turned around to face the green-haired man. “I never told you my name.” They said in unison.
