Nothing To Fear

Summary:

Tommy’s pillow shifted underneath him, moving a little closer, and Tommy sighed contentedly, snuggling into it. If given the chance, he’d sleep the day away in this warm cocoon of blankets. It was so much better than anything he’d ever felt before.

Wait.

It wasn’t just warm blankets that surrounded him, but two living, breathing bodies.

OR

Tommy wakes up after his impromptu nap and realizes some things.

Notes:

I've said it before, and I'll say it again; yes, I know this is problematic and wrong. Yes, I probably will be taking this down at some point, once I get over my hyperfixation on these three. Writing is how I deal with it. No, this is not about the actual CC's, just the characters.

So enjoy, or don't, I don't really care.

Work Text:

Tommy’s mind was fuzzy and soft as he woke up. He felt warm for once, and a comfortable weight was settled across his back.

It was an odd feeling, considering he was so used to waking up in uncomfortable places.

Between the disc wars, L’Manberg, and the election, Tommy had never really gotten to rest.

Pogtopia, with the uncomfortable makeshift cots and the fear of being found just solidified that pattern. Looking back, Tommy wasn’t sure who he had been more scared of, Schlatt or Wilbur.

Then Tommy had been exiled. Sleeping in a tent right off the ocean seemed like a nice idea, but when storms rolled in, Tommy was left soaking wet, shivering at the brutal wind. He had once tried to take shelter in Logstedshire for the night, but when Dream arrived the next morning, he grew angry when he couldn’t find Tommy.

Tommy shouldn’t have tried to move, he knew that now. Dream was right to have blown up his stuff. He deserved it, he—

Wait, no. He and Puffy had talked about this. He didn’t deserve to have his things blown up every day. He deserved food, a warm place to sleep, and people who actually cared about him, not the manipulative asshole that was Dream.

Puffy hadn’t worded it exactly like that, but it was close enough.

Then had come the prison. Everything was made of obsidian, and there was nowhere he could go. No way to escape Dream, no way to actually sleep, no way to get comfortable.

Tommy had spent close to three weeks in the prison, though a few of those nights were spent dead— which wasn’t much better. Tommy had always been of the mentality that he’d sleep when he was dead, but as it turned out, he didn’t even get to do that.

Needless to say, Tommy had gotten very good at falling asleep in odd, uncomfortable places.

The boy stilled, taking in the situation.

First, Tubbo. The goat-hybrid was splayed out over half the bed, snoring softly. Tommy’s head had migrated from under his chin to rest on his chest, the tips of his blond hair tickling Tubbo’s face and neck. Tubbo, however, didn’t seem to mind, as he kept on snoring away.

Secondly, Tommy turned his attention to the warm presence behind him. Ranboo was still tucked around Tommy, curled up surprisingly small given his stature. His dual hair was fanned out across his face, and Tommy wanted nothing more than to brush it aside.

Tommy suddenly remembered that he could do that now. He sat up, cautiously extracting himself from the precarious position he was in, and trailed a finger down Ranboo’s face, admiring it.

The Ender-hybrid’s face crinkled in response, and Tommy found himself smiling softly down at the boy.

Finally, Tommy turned his attention to himself, checking in, as Puffy had asked him to do. He was pleasantly surprised to find himself feeling better than he had in weeks. His muscles felt sore, sure, and he was sure his legs would collapse underneath him if he tried to stand, but for the first time in Prime-knows-how-long, Tommy felt happy. Content.

“Tommy?”

The younger boy froze. Fuck, he had woken Ranboo up.

“Hey, Ranboob, go back to sleep.”

“We napped for long enough,” the Ender-hybrid yawned, sitting up and stretching.

Tubbo groaned from next to Tommy. He flinched, unaware that the goat-hybrid had woken up as well.

“You can never have too much sleep, ‘Boo,” Tubbo said tiredly, grabbing Tommy’s arm and pulling it down to use as a pillow.

Ranboo laughed, looking far more awake than Tommy felt. “Fair enough. But come on, we still have most of the day ahead of us! Besides, we aren’t picking Michael up until Monday morning, so that means we can do whatever we want!”

“Can we fuck Tommy again then?”

Tommy, who had been keeping to himself up until that point, flushed bright red. “Hey, who said I would agree to that?”

Tubbo lifted his head, giving the taller boy an unimpressed look. “Would you refuse?”

“That’s beside the point,” Tommy scoffed, trying to pull his arm out of Tubbo’s grip. The other boy just laughed lightly and held on tighter.

Long arms draped themselves over Tommy’s shoulders, and he could feel Ranboo pressing himself up against Tommy’s back.

“Let me go!” he huffed.

“Mmmm, nah,” Ranboo said, burying his head into the crook of Tommy’s neck.

Tubbo scooted closer, wrapping his arms around Tommy’s middle and laying his head in the younger boy’s lap.

He was a hostage, it seemed. Not that he would ever tell them, but Tommy really didn’t mind being trapped here, entangled with the other two.

He relaxed back into Ranboo’s grip, letting his body go lax, and laced a hand through Tubbo’s hair. Running his fingers through the brunette strands, Tommy mused that he could get used to this domesticity if it meant waking up like this every morning.

“Oh!” Tubbo bolted upright, the top of his head, and, in conjunction, his horns, smacking Tommy in the chin.

“Ah, fuck!” Tommy said, reeling backward as stars danced across his vision.

“Tommy!” Ranboo turned the shorter boy’s head toward him, inspecting it for any visible injuries.

Tommy swatted his hands away. “I’m fine, Tubbo’s done worse to me before.”

Ranboo looked horrified. “That doesn’t make it any better!”

“Yeah, yeah. I’ve got a thick skull, it’s fine.”

Tubbo snorted. “You can say that again,” he muttered, eyes bright with mirth.

Ranboo smacked the back of the goat-hybrid’s head. “Oh, be nice, would you?”

Tubbo just grinned and stuck his tongue out at the taller boy, much to Tommy’s amusement.

“What was so important that you had to hurt our dear Tommy in your haste?”

Tommy tried not to linger too long on the way Ranboo had said ‘our’ and the warm feeling it left fluttering in his stomach.

Tubbo looked sheepish. “I just wanted to ask whether you guys wanted to get married this weekend, or if you wanted to actually take the time to plan something out and invite some people.”

“You guys were actually serious?” Tommy checked, wanting to make sure neither of the pair was joking. He didn’t think he’d be able to take it if the married couple just started laughing, leaving him alone with nothing but a “haha, sike!”

“Of course we were serious, silly,” Tubbo said, grinning. “We just told you a few hours ago!”

“I know, I just...wanted to check,” Tommy finished lamely, ducking his head.

“And we’ll remind you how much we love you every time you do,” Ranboo assured the younger male.

Tommy nodded, a warm feeling spreading through him again. Despite this, he couldn’t help the prickling seeds of doubt that had been planted in his mind. Surely, the couple would soon see that Tommy just ruined everything, and they’d want him out of their relationship, out of their lives.

Tommy liked to pretend he was fearless, but in reality, he was terrified of losing his two best friends. He knew he couldn’t survive without their constant support, and he feared the day when they realized they were better off without him.

Tubbo seemed to notice, for he took Tommy’s hand into his own. “How about this,” Tubbo asked, grabbing the attention of the other two. “Why don’t we get some lunch right now, and we’ll talk about this more some other time.”

Ranboo nodded. “Yeah, let’s just have some fun this weekend.” He pulled away from Tommy, and the younger boy whined, already missing the warmth.

Ranboo just laughed, leaning over and planting a kiss on the top of Tommy’s head.

“I’m going to go get started on lunch,” he said, pulling on a t-shirt and heading for the door.

“Wait!” Tubbo’s voice was sharp and sudden, making Tommy flinch. “Ah, sorry Toms,” Tubbo said, looking apologetic. “I just didn’t get a kiss goodbye.”

Ranboo sighed dramatically. “Fine, fine. I guess I can kiss you goodbye, even though I’m literally just walking downstairs.”

The Ender-hybrid crossed the room to his husband, bending down to place a kiss between Tubbo’s horns. Tubbo, however, had different plans.

He tilted his chin upwards while dragging Ranboo down by the collar of his shirt. Tommy felt a shiver run through him, watching the two kiss. Tubbo did something that made the taller boy whine slightly, and there was that fluttery feeling again, although this time it was much less content and far more...excited, to say the least.

Tubbo pulled back, looking satisfied with himself, leaving behind a panting and blissed-out-looking Ranboo.

“I’m, ah, I’m going to go make us lunch now,” Ranboo said, voice breathy and cheeks flushed purple.

“We’ll be down in a few, ‘Boo,” Tubbo said, smirking.

Ranboo nodded, again making his way to the door, though this time he was actually able to escape.

Tomy watched the Ender-hybrid go, a small smile gracing his lips.

“You’re so in love with him, it’s almost sickening.”

Tommy startled, cheeks flushing red. “Wha—no I’m not! What made you think that?” he asked, voice defensive and more than a little embarrassed.

Tubbo hummed, “Oh, just the way you were staring after him, plus all the sex earlier, and don’t say you didn’t watch Ranboo’s ass as he left, because I know you did.”

“So what if I did,” Tommy muttered, crossing his arms and ducking his head. Prime, he couldn’t believe he had just said that.

But Tubbo just nodded seriously. “It is a nice ass,” he said as if he were commenting on the weather and not on his husband’s backside.

It was so Tubbo that Tommy burst out laughing. He doubled over, pulling in great gulps of air that weren’t nearly enough to satisfy his lungs.

Tubbo joined in, and soon both of them were leaning on each other for support, giggling like lunatics.

Tommy’s laughter subsided, and he took a moment to really look at his laughing best friend. After everything that had happened earlier in the day, he had forgotten that Tubbo was just that—Tubbo. Tommy had never needed to put up a front with his best friend. The goat-hybrid had seen him at his absolute lowest and loved him anyway.

He was beautiful. That wasn’t anything new to Tommy, but now, he could tell Tubbo that whenever he wanted to, if he and Ranboo were telling the truth about loving him.

Tubbo blew some hair away from his face, catching Tommy’s eye. “What?” he asked, tilting his head a little. “Did you want a kiss as well?”

“I was just thinking that you’re beautiful,” Tommy admitted, face pinkening.

Tubbo rolled his eyes. “Sap.”

“I am not!”

“You’re such a sap Tommy Innit! You looooove me, and you’re a big softie!”

“You’re ruining my reputation,” Tommy whined, flopping back onto the pillows.

Tubbo laughed, joining Tommy. “That’s my job, as your best friend. And fiance,” he tacked on, then paused. He bit his lip, suddenly looking unsure. “Was that okay?”

Tommy’s face was on fire. He rolled over, burying his head in Tubbo’s shoulder. “Yeah. That was nice.”

“Oh, right. I forgot that you have a praise kink,” Tubbo teased, bringing a hand up and running it through Tommy’s hair.

“That’s not fair,” Tommy whined. “You know that’s my weakness.”

“Mm-hmm. And I’ll capitalize on that all I want, and you can’t stop me!”

Tommy could feel Tubbo grinning, and he swatted at the other boy’s chest. “Oh, shut up,” he grumbled, but couldn’t be bothered to move away from the light pets.

They lay there in silence for a few minutes, Tommy’s eyes growing heavier the longer Tubbo kept his fingers in his hair.

“Hey,” Tubbo whispered.

Tommy just hummed, nuzzling into the older boy’s neck.

Tubbo laughed. “We should probably start heading down. Ranboo is making us some lunch.”

“Yeah,” Tommy said, but made no effort to move. He was too comfortable.

“Come on, big man, let’s sit up,” Tubbo said, worming his way out from underneath Tommy.

The younger boy just whined, burying his head back into the pillows.

Tubbo sighed. “I’ll give you a kiss and carry you downstairs if you’ll be a good boy and get up.”

Tommy’s head shot up embarrassingly fast, and he blushed a bright red at Tubbo’s shock.

“Huh,” the goat-hybrid said, a smirk beginning to stretch across his face. “That actually worked. I’d have started using that years ago if I knew you’d do what I ask.”

Tommy rolled his eyes. “Yeah, whatever. I believe you owe me a kiss. And then we’ll go downstairs to Ranboo.”

Tubbo grinned, leaning over and capturing Tommy’s lips between his own.

The older boy’s lips were as hot as before, scraping against Tommy’s own and sending shivers up his spine. Tommy relished in the feeling, letting everything else wash away for a moment.

Tubbo did something with his tongue, and Tommy knew if this lasted much longer, he’d end up pinning Tubbo to the bed and kissing the life out of him, like he had dreamed about so many times before.

Or maybe it’d be the other way around. Tommy wasn’t sure which idea he liked more.

Luckily, Tubbo pulled away then, grinning at the younger boy. “Come on, Toms. We can do more of that later. Let’s go have some lunch now, yeah?”

Tommy nodded mutely, enamored with the boy in front of him. Tubbo climbed out of the bed, holding his hands out to Tommy. “Piggy-back or princess carry?”

“Uh, piggy-back,” Tommy whispered, crawling after the goat-hybrid. Tubbo just nodded, turning around and offering his back for Tommy to climb onto.

Tommy had forgotten how strong Tubbo was. He had to be, what with all the wars the pair had fought in. The older boy’s arms easily lifted Tommy onto his back, and Tubbo made his way to the door with ease.

The older boy made his way out of the room and down the stairs, letting Tommy hook his chin over the other’s shoulder and nuzzle into his neck sleepily. “That tickles,” Tubbo giggled, but did nothing to stop Tommy.

“Mmm, suffer,” Tommy said, rubbing his blond hair on the other boy’s face, making him laugh again. Prime, Tommy could listen to Tubbo laugh all day, even if it meant embarrassing himself.

If Tommy were a little less sleepy, maybe he never would have done any of this. But at the moment, he was too happy to care.

The boy pressed a kiss to Tubbo’s shoulder as the pair entered the kitchen. They both looked up to find Ranboo assembling what looked like fancy sandwiches on plates, humming mindlessly and clearly not paying attention.

Tubbo quietly set Tommy down on the counter, pressing a finger to his lips, and snuck up behind Ranboo, hands ready to start tickling the tall boy’s sides.

“Boo!”

Ranboo shrieked, jumping about a foot in the air as Tubbo attacked him.

Tommy doubled over laughing, falling over and laying on his side as the Ender-hybrid whirled around.

“Tubbo!” the boy scolded, though he looked more fond than anything.

“Hiya ‘Boo!” Tubbo chirped, grinning. “Is lunch ready yet?”

“It is, no thanks to you,” Ranboo said, turning away from the eldest to Tommy. “And you should not be laying on the kitchen counter!”

“Ranbooooooo,” Tommy complained, drawing out his name. “You’re no fun.”

“That’s not what you were saying earlier,” Ranboo said, then paused, face heating up with a purple blush. “I should not have said that.”

Tubbo cackled. “You just said what we were all thinking, ‘Boo.”

“Still doesn’t mean I should have said it,” he muttered, but picked up all three plates anyway. “Come on, Tommy, lunchtime.”

“Hey, what about me?” Tubbo asked.

“People who attack their unsuspecting husbands don’t get lunch,” Ranboo sniffed, laying the plates down in front of three chairs.

Tubbo just stuck his tongue out petulantly, making Tommy snicker.

Tommy hopped off the counter, wobbling a little as his legs began to buckle underneath him. He grabbed onto the counter, pulling himself up and praying neither of the other boys had seen that.

Luckily, Ranboo was too busy ignoring Tubbo to notice, and Tubbo was doing everything in his power to cling to Ranboo.

Tommy slowly made his way to the table, sitting down with the other boys as each of them took their own seats. Despite the new dynamic between the three of them, this bantering was familiar.

The youngest boy watched the other two for a second, gazing at them fondly while they bickered before Ranboo noticed.

Their eyes met, and both boys quickly flicked them away, Tommy knowing Ranboo hated eye contact. Instead, Ranboo stuck a hand out on the table, palm turned upwards, open and inviting. Tommy placed his own on top of it.

“Well I want in on this too,” Tubbo said, then stacked his own hand on top of Tommy’s. He grinned at the two other boys, eyes twinkling.

Tommy had nothing to be afraid of, not with his two best friends by his side.

Here I am, back again with more of these three...
