Cute boys rainy rooftop confession woo!

Last sentence should be a lil familiar

Work Text:

Shinjiro grumbled as he climbed the stairs, swearing under his breath. There are few reasons that could make Shinjiro physically go to Gekkoukan High, and one of them resided in his inner coat pocket. A folded piece of paper that asked for him on the roof after school, signed by Makoto Yuki. Fittingly, the note was written in blue ink, and perhaps even more fittingly, it was short and to the point-

Shinji-
Meet me on the roof today after school… Please.

Makoto Yuuki

Regardless of the reason, it was still a lot of stairs to scale. Luckily, no other students demanded his attention or got in his way. It wasn’t clear whether that was due to his naturally intimidating stature and aura, or if the students had more important things to do than to congregate on the stairway to the top of the building. Pushing the door to the roof open let fresh air and sunlight hit his face, as his eyes took a moment to adjust to the natural sunlight. It was a nice day out, but a scattering of dark clouds threatened the cool, subdued sunny day. He blinked a few times, until a blue haired boy came into focus. Makoto was standing on the edge of the roof, standing firm and resolute while looking at the impending clouds. A breeze rolled through, ruffling his bangs as he turned his face to Shinjiro, a small smile laying claim to his mouth.

Shinjiro coughed, covering his mouth with his fist, as he nervously made his way next to Makoto. His heartrate sped up, his mind felt slippery; unable to hold onto a thought before it slipped down his dry throat with a rough swallow. He broke eye contact, looking up at the clouds. They moved slowly, but full of purpose.

“Thanks for coming.” Makoto spoke softly, tucking his hair behind his ear as he looked back up at the sky. The silence lingered for a moment.

“No problem.” Shinjiro gruffly responded, as he awkwardly shifted his weight to his other foot.

“I wanted to see you privately Shinji. I wanted-“ Makoto paused, taking a deep breath. Shinjiro refused to look at Makoto, his face burning up. “I-I- want-“ Makoto stuttered, his hands balled into fists within his pockets. His face reddening when faced with this momentous moment as his nerve failed him.

Shinjiro broke his gaze away from the clouds, instead looking at the boy standing next to him. His eyes flashed, and he took aggressive steps forward, causing Makoto to stumble backwards, eventually causing his back to press against a ventilation duct. Makoto squirmed as his eyes widened, his mouth slightly agape. Shinjiro pushed every fluttery feeling of his heart away, as he gritted his teeth, glaring unblinkingly. “You don’t want this. You don’t want me. You… Have to do better.” He growled to the cornered Makoto, before his strength faltered and he sighed, his fingertips resting on his forehead as he closed his eyes. A beat of silence permeated through the air, as Shinjiro suddenly felt a soft touch on his chin. He opened in eyes in surprise right before their lips met. Makoto had a gentle grip on the older boy’s chin, as he stood on his tippy-toes to reach his lips. Time slowed to a crawl, before a thunderous crack split the sky, and rain gently started to fall. Makoto pulled back, his chest holding his breath as he searched for Shinjiro’s reaction.

Shinjiro looked dazed; his eyes glossy before he sheepishly rubbed the back of his neck and looked away. His heart tangled with the emotions of joy and guilt before he let loose a sharp exhale, his qualms evaporating as he steeled himself. He took Makoto’s hand drew him close, resting the younger boy against his chest. The rainfall intensified around them, its ambient volume drowning out all other sound. “Are you sure?” He whispered into the shorter boy’s ear, squeezing Makoto’s hand while his other hand was busy running through wet blue hair.

“I want you Shinji…” Makoto mumbled into Shinjiro’s chest, his short, shallow breaths making his words crisp, staccato, and flimsy.

Shinjiro smiled in spite of himself, and finally relaxed into the moment as he kissed the top of Makoto’s head.

“Alright. Let’s do this.”
