Work Text:
"Goddammit," you sighed out when you accidentally dropped your keys while unlocking the front door of your apartment. You leaned your forehead on the door, collecting yourself before bending down to get your keys.
This day was one of the days where everything that could go wrong, went wrong. You had to change your pants in the morning because you spilled coffee on it, it started raining on your way to work and you had no umbrella, then you messed up few things at work and your boss wasn't exactly happy when that happened and now this. Dropping keys on the ground, right before you open the door to your flat, when all you want is to relax and forget the day. It was the last straw.
You opened the door on the second try, shrugged your jacket and then you heard 'Hi' in a very familiar voice that instantly eased your mind. Natasha returned early today.
You made your way to the kitchen and saw Natasha at the counter, her back facing you. She must have been in the process of making herself a cup of tea from what it looked like. She glanced at you briefly before focusing back on her task.
"Hi" you said softly, coming up to Natasha and hugging her from behind, practically melting into her.
"Hi again," she answered and smiled to herself, "how was your day?"
"Ugh," you mumbled, burying your head into her shoulder, "I don't wanna talk about it."
Natasha didn't understand much, since the sentence was muffled, but she knew something was off.
"Hey," she said while turning around to face you and put her arms around you, "I'm making some tea, do you want a cup too?"
"Yes please."
"Okay. Why don't you go into the living room and choose a movie for tonight." Natasha told you and leaned her head forward, your foreheads touching. You lightly nodded and when you pulled away Natasha gave you a small kiss before you went to sit on the sofa.
You loved and appreciated Natasha for this. She could read you like a book, she knew when to push and start asking questions and when to just be there for you, sometimes even in silence. You tried to do the same for her when the roles were reversed. You both had your fair share of bad days and worries, but having each other was a constant that was keeping you two sane.
Today you needed to free your mind and just forget that the world exists. The fact that Natasha was home and not on some mission was the first good thing that happened today.
Natasha brought two cups of tea, set them on the small table and went to get a blanket that was in your bedroom. Once she returned and sat down on the sofa, she put the blanket over the both of you and secured her arm around you. You immediately leaned into her and put your head in the crook of her neck.
She glanced at the TV and when she saw your comfort movie paused at the opening sequence she asked if you needed anything else.
"No, I have everything I need." you answered, looking up at Natasha, hoping she knew how grateful you are.
The redhead softened, pulled you closer and pushed play on the controller.
Once the movie started you relaxed into your girlfriend, finally feeling better.
"I love you, Nat." you said after a while.
"Love you too."
