“Why wouldn’t your cousin love me?” Ted asked, crossing his arms tightly over his chest, “I’m six feet tall, super strong, and we’ve gotten along since the day we started Hogwarts.” He wasn’t entirely sure how he had gotten into this conversation with the most Black to begin Hogwarts, but the short Gryffindor was really beginning to get on his nerves.
“You are barely 5’9”, I saw you struggling to pick up a small caldron, and Blacks hate muggle borns,” the child said smugly, looking up at Ted.
Rolling his eyes, Ted pulled out his wand, “you don’t know what you’re talking about. He pointed the wand at the boy as a look of realization formed on his face, realizing that maybe he had pushed things a bit too far.
Early in his time at Hogwarts, Ted realized that the best way to get back at purebloods was using the simplest muggle methods used in primary schools around the country and this made it all the more entertaining as well. It took more effort than Ted expected, but after a moment a muggle school locker appeared in front of them with the door open which he quickly shoved the boy inside. The locker looked completely ridiculous in of the castle lawn. Carefully so he didn’t actually hurt the boy, just teach him a lesson, Ted closed the door and locked using a charm which required a spell slightly more difficult than alohomora to open.
As he walked away, Ted could hear the boy trying to get out of the locker, but there was no one around at the moment. Ted wasn’t evil, he was only going to let the boy stay in there for a couple hours at most. He had lots of studying to do and was planning to do a little bit of reading while the boy was in there.
Later, in the Hufflepuff common room…
“Edward Lucas Tonks!” Andromeda said, storming into the room in her severe looking Slytherin robes, “why did I just find my cousin in a muggle school locker on the front lawn?”
“He was insulting me,” Ted shrugged, looking up at Andromeda from his charms textbook, “he said Blacks hate muggle borns.”
Andromeda sighed angrily, “blame his parents for that, I’m sure they’ve told him that I’m just as horrible as they are with their pure blood elitism. The kid doesn’t deserve to deal with your shit, he’s dealing with enough having been sorted into Gryffindor. Out of all my family, he’s the last one you should be hating. Why did you let a first year get you that riled up anyway?”
“Because I love you?”
“You are an idiot, Ted Tonks,” Andromeda’s features relaxed and she gave him a quick kiss on the forehead before exiting the room dramatically, leaving Ted feeling rather confused. He figured he hadn’t fucked up too bad if she gave him a kiss.
