Chapter 1: The Playground

Chapter Text

Down the slide she went. “Weeeeeee!”

“Are you having fun?” Yeonjun asked.

“Yes! You should come too!” She replied cheerfully, urging the elder to join her.

“No, I am a big boy now. I don’t go on silly slides...” He said, shyly.

“You mean then I’m silly? You’re so mean!” The little girl looked away, almost bursting into tears in a matter of seconds.

A bit taken aback, Yeonjun quickly responded, “No, no that’s not what I meant. See I am going on the slide too. Don’t cry Y/N. Look at me!”

And down the slide he went too, landing with a plop. Y/N’s tears turned into a giggle.

“I wanna ride on the swing!” She announced.

“Okay, let’s go.” Yeonjun agreed and took her hand in his as they skipped towards the swing.

An hour had passed by before they recieved more company.

“It’s time to go home now.'' Said one of the mothers.

Both the kids protested at once. “No! We want to play more.”

“Soobin is here too now, let us play some more please!” Y/N had pleaded.

“It’s getting late. You can play another day.” Yeonjun’s mother tried to convince.

But at last she had to agree to give them 10 more minutes because those cute little puppy eyes were not refusable.

"The one to reach the slide first wins!" Yeonjun declared as soon as they got permission.

Soobin and Y/N dashed off behind him, but they weren't fast enough. Yeonjun won, with a big grin displayed on his face.

"Not fair! You started before us." Y/N had complained.

"Okay then let's do another race, just between us. Okay?"

"Alright." She agreed almost immediately.

"3...2...1...Go!"

"Go Y/N, you can do it!" Soobin kept on cheering from behind.

"Yay!" She hopped around happily celebrating her win with Soobin, while Yeonjun made a pouty face. Although what Y/N didn't know was that instead of putting his all, Yeonjun intentionally let the younger one win it.

Those 10 minutes passed by in a flash and begging for more time did not work again because it had gotten quite dark by then. They didn't have a choice but to part.

Saying goodbye, Y/N and Soobin went left and Yeonjun went towards the right with his mother, telling her how cool he looked when he managed to stop Y/N crying, how he had pushed the swing for her, then let her win during the race and all the other things.

“You’re a grown man now aren’t you?” His mother ruffled his hair.

“Yes!” He nodded happily.

He was 10.
