Here Comes a Thought <3

Summary:

Sniff is stuck in their thoughts when an acquaintance of theirs decides to drop by to say hi.

A/N: All of the below is written based of the roleplay & their characters, not the people !!!

Notes:

Hi!!! Sorry if there are any mistakes in this! This is my first time writing a fanfic about the BearSMP (hopefully not the last). Anyways, hope you enjoy!!! (And yes the title is a reference to Steven Universe)

Work Text:

Sniff sat on the fields of grass, away from everything. Sniff wasn't too sure why they had gone so far away. They supposed sometimes it all became too much. They could feel the grass below them as they stared into the abyss/at the grass blankly.

Sniff wondered when Fruit would arrive. Would she even show up at all?

The girl had seemed ecstatic about coming here when sniff last saw her yet the brunette was no where in sight. Had the brunette changed her mind about coming here? Had Sniff been waiting for someone who changed their mind last minute? If you could even call a month 'last minute'.

While Sniff stayed in the BearSMP temporarily waiting for Fruit, they had noticed something. As Bear said when Sniff first came here, the town was occupied by an alien, formally known as Guqqie & Bill had used to live here as well. a skeleton who sniff had heard came from actual hell.

.....The girl from above & the boy from below.....

This meant that the visions that the brunette went on about were much more realistic than Sniff had thought they would be when they first heard about the visions.

Those visions that Fruit sang about seemed so ... unrealistic at the time. I mean, seeing an alien and a skeleton in a vision? They had thought she was joking, just spewing her imaginary ideas that she had most likely seen in dreams.

This made Sniff wonder how much Fruit had really seen in those visions. Did the girl know about Ori already? Sniff wasn't sure.

Sniff could hear footsteps approaching behind them followed by the click of an umbrella & the sound of the umbrella snapping open before a shadow displayed on the grass below her, therefore indicating an umbrella had been put up over Sniff's head.

Sniff, instinctively, turned their head around instantly to see who it was to find that it was Ori, holding an umbrella high over their head. Of course it had to be Ori. The person sniff least wanted to be here right now. Not with so many thoughts going through their head.

"Boo." Ori broke the silence simply.

"Hello to you too." Sniff responded, gripping the dagger on their hip.

They were very vulnerable right now.

Ori softly laughed, "Relax, relax. Can't a man just drop by to say hi?"

"It's not like we're friends." Sniff reminded before stiffening their posture & turning back forward, away from Ori.

They probably shouldn't be sitting down with their back turned to Ori but they were so tired, too tired to do anything. After all, they hadn't even been able to head back to their tent.

"Exactly, that's why I didn't say 'friend'. Acquaintances, right?"

"Right." Sniff confirmed.

"Riiight." Ori repeated, dragging out the 'I' before laughing as always.

"Anyways, don't you have more important things to do than old some dusty umbrella over my head?? It's not even raini-" Sniff began before, low & behold, not even a moment later they began to see small sprinkles of water falling onto the grass that wasn't being covered.

The two went dead quiet as drops of water pittered & pattered on the roof of Ori's umbrella.

"...You did that." Sniff tried to argue, pulling their knees up to their chest.

"Mm, not exactly." Ori objected back. "I've barely been here for a minute. Plus, I'll have you know it's been cloudy all day. Though.... I do suppose my presence enough could've been that push the clouds needed for it to start raining."

"Well, even if it is raining now, don't you have more important things than old some stupid umbrella over my head???"

"First off, that wasn't too kind. Second, this is important." Ori claimed.

"Sorry, sorry- but important??? Holding some umbrella is important in this timeline??" Sniff questioned.

"Well of course, even this sentence was planned out." Ori continued.

"I-"

"You can try to be as unpredictable as you want but in the end it will always be predicted by time itself." Ori interupted.

Both went silent again as Sniff wondered what to say next. Hell, they could barely even think in this state.

"Are they ever actually going to arrive?" Sniff finally asked since it was all they were thinking about.

"Who?" Ori questioned, though Sniff knew he was fully aware of who they were talking about.

Ori always knew.

"You know who." Sniff stated.

There was a few seconds of silence while Ori had to actually think about the question for once before answering.

"You know I can't tell you that."

Neither had to say the brunette's name to know who the other was on about.

"I know. I understand." but Sniff didn't understand. They didn't understand at all.

"Why aren't you going to your tent & sitting inside there instead of randomly in the grass fields this evening?" Ori asked, although he already knew the answer.

Still, it was considerate of him to ask even if he already knew exactly why.

"'M too tired to head over there." Sniff replied. "You don't have to ask. I know you already know. you know everything, don't you?"

"Ah- well yes, I'd expect that to be common knowledge by now." Ori responded.

Sniff quietly laughed, "You're such a dumbass."

They both went silent again. sniff wished to fill the silence with absolutely anything.

"How- how's Bear been doing?" Sniff asked.

Well, that was indeed a ... topic to bring up.

"Bear is ... Bear." Ori answered bluntly.

"Lying now I see? I've only been here for- not even a month actually, & even I can tell he's not been himself lately."

"Well, yes & no, he's still Bear. After all, he's falling to pressure, something so familiar for Bear, isn't it?"

Sniff went dead silent, not even trying to argue with Ori's statement because Sniff actually had no clue what Bear was like, not well.

Sniff looked at the grass below her feet that hadn't had one drop of water fall on it due to Ori's umbrella.

"I think coming here was a mistake." Sniff admitted.

"Not in this timeline it wasn't." Ori told sniff.

"Oh so what- everything that's happened was just 'meant to be'? Just some stupid destiny!?" Sniff snapped.

"Well when you phrase it like thaaat..."

"Aghh," Sniff put their head in their hands. "I just don't get it!"

"Get what?" Ori questioned.

"You! You, you you." Sniff exclaimed.

"A lot of people don't get me."

Sniff didn't even need to be looking at Ori to know the ravenette had shrugged.

"Edgy much?" Sniff rolled their eyes.

"Now I wasn't actually wasn't expecting that one!" Ori stated.

"Really?" Sniff turned their body around to look at Ori.

"No, of course i was." Ori corrected bluntly. "I literally just told you everything is set in stone already. Have you not learned anything?"

Sniff looked away from Ori, instead looking back at the floor.

"...Oh."
