Bingo Square: Stuck In An Elevator

Bucky fixed up his blazer and trousers, carrying the case of important files, he put his hand to his comms in his ear.

“You ready, Cap? I’m approaching the elevator.” This suit is uncomfortable.

“Two steps ahead of you,” he could hear Sam’s smile “I’m already in it.”

It was incredibly crowded, he fixed up his sunglasses and hat as he heard a ding. Barnes entered the empty elevator and gathered his case. He smiled at Sam with satisfaction. They had to get to the bottom floor of the building. Sam peered over his shoulder, he nodded at Bucky, satisfied that they got the objective.

Then, two more dings. The elevator kept moving. Sam felt the pistol strapped to his leg. There was a huge bustle of businessmen and women, in suits and fancy wristwatches and incredibly neat forms.

More and more people came in and out, shoving Bucky and Sam against the wall and each other. It was very uncomfortable. Sam felt Bucky’s warm breath and touch, he felt his gloved hands and warm skin.

“Sorry,” Bucky blurted, their hips and legs grazed against each other as the room packed full of people continued “guess this is gonna be longer than we thought,”

“It’s okay,” Sam managed, trying to avoid his gaze on James’ lips, “it’s not the worst thing in the world.”

Soon, they collided with each other, lips pressed against each other’s. It was warm, soft and sudden. Sparks collided, their heads were dizzy and it wasn’t from the sudden movement.

He swallowed softly as Sam’s gaze fell to Bucky’s lips.

James blushed. “Sorry,” he blurted out, cheek still warm “it’s cramped in here.”

“Yeah,” Sam mumbled awkwardly and he eyed the case Bucky was holding “but it’s okay, it’ll pass.”

After a few minutes, the amount of busy people left and it was just the two of them. In silence, caked in awkwardness as the feeling of each other’s lips grew warm and tingling on their skin as time continued to tick by.

“Finally,” Sam sighed in relief and propped himself up against the elevator wall “we can finish this mission in peace.”

“Yeah,” Bucky said as he shuffled away awkwardly and took his index and middle finger, grazing it upon his own lips and turning back to Sam. A dawning realization fell upon him. He wanted more.

The elevator music played a pop song he hadn’t heard before as they watched the numbers on the control panel lights go, down, down. They had to go to the basement floor. It continued going down as they stood in silence. “How was the agent?” Sam said, nodding to the briefcase.

Bucky laughed and clutched his hand in a fist “I made easy work of him. Knocked him out clean,

“You look good in a suit,” Sam smiled.

“Yeah, yeah,” he teased back, his smile almost identical to his “I can’t wait to get out of it.”

“Need help with that?” Sam blurted and the air in the room got even more tense. His cheeks warmed up in embarrassment and coughed, he shuffled his feet. Bucky smiled in amusement, his eyes lighting up with mischief.

He chewed on his lip lightly. He licked his lips curiously, his eyes trailing up and down Sam’s physique.

“You flirting with me, Samuel?”

He loved and hated how Bucky said his name. So soft, so pure - so teasing. His body felt warm all over. Then, there was this noise, a halt.

The elevator stopped moving and the numbers on the control panel stopped. They were stuck. “Shit,” Sam said as Bucky tried to work the door open. They had ten more floors to go. “Are we stuck?”

Bucky set down the case and tried to pry the doors open with his hands, he groaned and struggled, making a small dent but not enough to get out. “Yeah,” he sighed “I don’t...know what to do.”

“It’s okay,” Sam pulled up his sleeve and stared at the gear on his wrist. “I’ll contact Redwing.” he sighed and huffed. I can’t believe we’re stuck in an elevator. Together.

SAM: Redwing, initiate rescue mission.

RW: [Mission acquired]

RW: [Activated]

“Well,” Bucky said and grabbed the black, heavy case, “the best we can do is wait.” He began undoing the latch and peering inside. Sam perked up and tapped him on the shoulder.

“What do you think you’re doing?” he snapped, “why are you opening our mission?”

“I’m curious!” he cried weakly “I just – how long are we gonna be in for? Might as well look inside,”

Sam sighed “can’t we burst through the ceiling?” he suggested. He looked around, no vents - just the speakers.

Bucky walked over and pressed the emergency button. It was static and there was no response. “Shit, nothing’s working…”

Sam groaned “what could we do now?” He held his hand up against the wall and took deep breaths. Be calm, be calm.

“I don’t know,” he said forcefully and closed the case shut. “We can just wait, Sam. That’s all,” he sat on the floor and crossed his legs. Sam copied him and they stared at each other.

“Got any interesting things to say?” Sam suggested, checking his gear every now and then. Redwing was having trouble finding them. Bucky shook his head. Sam and Bucky spent the rest of the evening, sitting and telling jokes. They talked about Sarah, Cass and AJ. They talked about the newest headlines and upcoming missions they’d have to face. Then; Sam felt the world caving in.

He hated tight spaces, so much. He groaned as he felt Bucky’s reassuring hand on his shoulder. He felt his breath quicken and his mind close in on itself.

“Sam,” he said, “it’s okay. I’m here, listen to my voice,” he brings Sam closer to his body and wraps his arms around him. Sam began to breathe, the world around him began to be in focus. “Sam, we’re gonna be okay…”

Sam's hands found the back of his neck and they were with each other like this for a while. Softly, calmly - strangely, Bucky found peace in Sam. No matter what, in the middle of battle or just having a rough day - Sam was peaceful. Sam was good, his face lights up in a true smile when he sees him.

“Thank you,” he heard Sam mumble and they released from the hug, noses brushing. A tingle went up both their spines. Sam saw the slight pinkness in Bucky’s cheeks from the contact. He leaned against the wall and stared at the elevator doors, praying that Redwing would come rescue them.

Their eyes met with silence and silent yearning. Sam caught his breath and stared at the metal doors of the elevator. He traced his hands over his disguise and sighed a little. The feeling on Bucky's lips; he wanted more. It was for a split second but...but what if he could have that everyday? What if he could have that soft yearning, caring and loving lifestyle forever?

“Sorry,” Bucky blurted out “for - accidentally kissing you earlier.”

Was he reading my mind?

“It’s okay,” Sam said quickly, “I didn’t mind it.” What did I just say?

Bucky felt the hairs on his skin raise.

The two sat in awkward silence, cheeks warmed with embarrassment and tension. Sam groaned at his own words and pulled his knees to his chest. They heard each other’s breathing and each other’s silent pleas.

“You mean that?” Bucky mumbled.

“I guess,” Sam even more softly.

“You guess?” Bucky shuffled closer with a small smile on his face.

“Yeah,” he replied - almost breathless “I liked it.”

Bucky’s eyes fell to his lips and shuffled closer, their legs touching. He hesitated for a brief moment. “Can I do it again?”

Sam blinked and thought for a moment. He would let Bucky kiss him as much as he wanted to, as much as he needed to. He would let Bucky kiss him until his legs were weak and his brain went all fuzzy. He needed Bucky to kiss him again, so he could feel his body pressed against his - so he could feel his warmth and touch and melt under his skin.

Sam yearned for it; he longed for it. He would do anything to kiss him again. The elevator isn’t the most romantic place to do it.

“Yes,” Sam sighed, as if he was begging for it.

So, he kissed him. It was soft, sweet and everything they could have ever wanted. Needed. His gloved hands stroked his cheek and facial hair a little and he felt a smile against his lips.

“Sam,” Bucky sighed as his eyes dropped down to his lips “you’re so beautiful. Has anyone told you that?”

Sam felt himself flustered, “no,” he said, almost breathless “not in a long time.”

“I liked that,” Bucky admitted, blushing “I liked kissing you. It’s sad we had to do it in the elevator.” Then, Redwing beeped.

“I think we’re going out soon,” Sam smiled, still flustered and giddy from the kiss, “uh - Bucky?”

“Yeah?” he smiled and rested his head on his shoulder. He flinched but eased at the contact.

“What was in the case?”

“The guy committed a murder,” he said casually. Sam’s eyebrows perked up. James chuckled “I’m kidding – He’s just downloading illegal stuff and tried to explode some stuff,”

“Ah,” Sam nodded. “How long have we been in heere for?”

“About half an hour.”

“Wow,” Bucky huffed, “who knew that would have happened?”

Redwing beeped on the other side of the doors. After a few moments of tinkering, the doors slid open and they were free. Sam sighed in relief. He got up and helped Bucky up, they stepped out and looked at the case with Redwing following along.

“Do we need to take stairs?” Bucky complained.

“I’ll race you, old man.” Sam teased and nudged his side, earning a smile from him.

“Winner gets a kiss…” Barnes licked his lips.

Sam laughed and he felt very satisfied.
