Chapter Text
Thunder in our hearts.
The gentle shoulder push jolts her out of her reverie. Startled, she glances to the woman sitting next to her.
"Alright?" Kate asks her with a smile. Her cheeks are rosy from the beer and her eyes are bright crystal blue under the dim light of the bar.
"Yeah." She grabs Kate's hand under the table and squeezes her fingers. "I'm glad I came."
She tries not the blush and fails.
Kate's thumb finds the back of her hand, draws small circles over her knuckles. Chris laughs loudly at something another DS says.
Kate doesn't look away.
"Me too, Jo."
Chapter Text
Cold November.
I warm my cold November hands on my brown paper cup, hoping you'll enjoy breakfast.
You don't smile so much these days.
Is it because of the holiday?
I got you coffee, with some milk and a pastry.
Fancy an almond croissant, boss?
You beam back at me.
They say food makes people happy.
It surely works for me!
I warm my cold November hands on my brown paper cup, hoping you'll enjoy breakfast.
It's got my name written on yours.
Kate in thick black sharpy.
You trace it with the tip of your index.
And you've got that look in your eyes like you've seen a million stars.
I warm my cold November hands on my brown paper cup, knowing you've enjoyed breakfast.

Notes:
Wrote this while blasting Big Red Machine's latest album in my earphones. I strongly recommend you listen to their music. It's pure gold.
Chapter Text
Seduce me with your charms until I'm drunk on them.
"You could stay over and sleep with me." She pauses and her eyes widen in surprise, suddenly understanding the implication behind her words. "In my bed." She adds too quickly.
Still not it.
"Sleep with me in my bed as in sharing my bed, not actually sleeping with me." She gives Jo a sheepish look. "Or I could sleep on the couch and you take the bed?" Her voice breaks a little. "You probably don't even want to stay over. Shit. I'm sorry. I think I'm a bit drunk."
"Is that you attempting to flirt with me?" Jo moves closer, throwing her legs over Kate's lap. Kate can see the hint of a smirk on Jo's lips.
"Oh, shut up!" She slaps her hand flat on Jo's thigh. "I'm trying to be nice here." Jo's smirk breaks into a large grin.
"Very chivalrous of you, DI Fleming."
She moves to straddle Kate and wraps her arms around her neck. She nudges her nose against Kate's, beckoning her to look at her. Jo's still smiling, kindness and a little bit tipsy. There's that glint in her eyes again, like that time Jo flashed her badge to the two men at the bar and Kate told her they were not her type anyway. Kate goes in for a kiss, a peck on the lips Jo immediately chases to deepen.
"Please just give me an answer," Kate whines when they part. "It's getting embarrassing."
"I'll share your bed with you but on one condition." She pokes one finger at Kate's chest for emphasis.
Kate lets out an audible sigh, feigning irritation, fully aware she'd do anything Jo might ask her. "What's that then?"
"I get to be the little spoon!"
