God bless the queen

Summary:

“You have white hair.” Takemichi said suddenly, his voice filled with surprise and awe while his fingers caressed one of Koko’s wild locks, like it was the first time he was seeing it.

Koko chuckled, letting Takemichi move his head around like he was a doll. “You don’t like it? If you don't, I'll change it. Maybe I'll do pink next to match Sanzu.”

(Or: Koko takes care of Takemichi.)

Notes:

Honestly I didn't plan in expanding this AU but after this week chapter I desperately needed some fluff in my life.

I've written most of this in the morning before I had to go to work. Does it matter? No but its a fun fact

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

Koko loved taking care of Takemichi.

Honestly, they all did, that was why they made a calendar with who was on duty that day, so they could all have a piece of that precious time with Takemichi. Koko counted the days as he waited his turn and murdered anyone who tried to keep him busy that day.

“Takemichi… it’s time to wake up.” Koko leaned his body on the cocoon of blankets that was resting on the bed, his long hair brushing over it.

Koko smiled amused when he heard a small protest from it. “Come on, sleepy head. I know you're awake.” Koko tilted his head down and pressed his lips on Takemichi’s forehead, nuzzling his nose against his hair to coax him up.

Takemichi whined a little more again, but he moved enough to let the blankets fall from his body. Koko’s breath was caught in his throat when he saw the familiar blue of Takemichi’s eyes. It was so bright and unique, Koko couldn’t think at a price for it. Those eyes have haunted him for years, until they were able to find him again.

“Koko…” Takemichi mumbled, rubbing his eye with the back of his hand. “What day is it?”

“September third.” Koko answered patiently, watching as Takemichi’s gaze turned from sleepy to dazed in a matter of seconds. He was always like that in the mornings, he lived in his own world made of visions of different futures and pasts, unable to properly get away after his mind broke into pieces.

(When Mikey told them the truth about Takemichi and his time-leaping ability, Koko wanted to laugh. Then he realised it answered all the questions on Takemichi’s strange behaviour and, for the first time, Koko felt scared and so, so grateful.)

“-year?”

“Uhm?” Koko shook his head and leaned his head down until their noses almost touched. “Sorry, what was that?”

Takemichi blinked, but he didn’t look particularly annoyed and easily repeated the question. “What year is it?”

“2018, Takemichi.” Koko stayed still as Takemichi’s hands went up to cradle his face gently. His ocean eyes ran on his face, looking at every nook and cranny. Koko turned his head a little to kiss Takemichi’s soft palm, drinking his taste like a starving man eyeing the knife scar that had been there since he had met him.

Maybe I'll do pink next to match Sanzu.” That would be a nightmare.

“I didn’t say that.” Takemichi pouted. “It suits you. You look more… adult.”

“Well I’m twenty-six.” Koko chuckled as he pulled Takemichi closer to him, seeking his warmth. "I can't be a kid forever."

"Wouldn't that be a bliss though?" Takemichi muttered, his arms gently wrapping around Koko's shoulders while he pressed his face against his chest. "Being a kid forever, never having a care for the world."

Koko hummed and said nothing as Takemichi crawled in his lap. He looked so fragile, weak, yet he was the strongest man Koko had ever known. It didn't matter if he had just woken up and was only dressed with an oversized shirt he had definitely stolen from Mochi, Takemichi looked like a god in Koko's eyes, one that he had been blessed enough to touch and love. One that Mikey had willingly shared with them, knowing how everyone had been starved of Takemichi’s love.

"Are you in the mood to eat something? The chef made cupcakes, but I can get you anything. Money is not an issue. I can get you those fruits you love so much too." Koko pressed his lips against Takemichi’s cheek and smiled when the other man giggled.

"Maybe later… can you just hold me a little longer?" Takemichi tightened his grip around Koko's neck, his voice barely a whisper. If there was one thing Koko loved about Takemichi’s mental instability was the fact that Takemichi seeked affection often, no matter the time or how much blood covered them, there were times where he desperately needed a hug, like such a gentle touch from the worst criminals in Japan would be enough to ground him to reality.

And none of Bonten executives would ever refuse him that.

Koko breathed his scent deeply, closing his eyes and squeezing Takemichi back like he might run if he didn't. Even broken, Takemichi had become Bonten's sun, their queen . They would kill and get killed for him, without asking any question. They had been born to serve him.

"Where's Mikey?" Takemichi asked after a while, stretching his neck to meet Koko's gaze. It seemed that his head had cleared a little, the chains of the past had loosened enough to let him breathe.

"He had a job to do, some rats have sneaked between us… but him and Sanzu are taking care of them." Koko smiled and caressed Takemichi’s sides as the other man shifted in his lap to find a more comfortable position. "He will be back for lunch. He has promised."

"I hope he keeps his promise, I'll be angry if he doesn't."

Like Koko didn't know that Takemichi would forgive Mikey everything, but he only hummed in response.

"Alright, come on, time to eat, you have been getting thinner. The Haitani say your ass is getting smaller." Koko placed his hands under Takemichi's thighs and pulled him up. The small, offended scream Takemichi let out was worth it.

"Koko, that's so unfair-" Takemichi still wrapped his legs around Koko's waist though.

Koko felt his lips stretching into a soft smile. When he was with Takemichi he could forget about money, blood and everything that filled his daily life. It was like he was back at fifteen again, gazing behind Takemichi, wishing he could stay by his side forever.

And now, Takemichi will never leave their side again.
