Work Text:

The alarm was deafening, Akaashi did not want to get out of bed that morning, it was cold, autumn had just begun and the warmth of his bed was too comforting to go out in the cold. He sighed heavily before turning off the alarm.

Before getting up and taking his usual cup of coffee and getting ready for another day of university, he decides to stay another five minutes in bed to check the notifications.

As always, the classroom chat was full of unseen messages, it's not that he doesn't care about them, he just gets annoyed with replying.

He sighed.

No message from Bokuto, it’s already a week that he hasn't texted or replied; they have not seen each other for practically two years, from the day of Bokuto's graduation to be exact, when he left for Brazil, they didn’t miss a day in sending messages or making video calls that were too long, not that Akaashi cared, it was the was the only way he had to see him.

But now it was different, a whole week without news of him and apparently not even their friends knew anything, even Kuroo didn't know anything.

He turned off the phone and clicked his tongue against his roof of the mouth in an annoyed gesture, throwing himself out of bed.

I can't force him to text me, he'll be busy.

He arrived at the university around 9am, just in time for his first lesson, too late for his second morning coffee.

He warmed up in his beige sweater while he waited for the class to warm up properly, as always the notifications on the phone were off, he wanted to avoid distractions.

He was desperately trying to follow the lessons but his mind always returned to the same thought, Bokuto Koutaro. He wondered what he was doing, was he so busy he couldn't even text him?

Just concentrated Keiji.

He kept repeating it to himself but it didn't help, that stupid owl was his constant thought and this made him nervous, he didn't have to think so much, he wasn't his boyfriend or anything like that, they were just old friends who texted often, a lot often, too often, but nothing changed the fact that they were friends; sure, the absence of Koutaro in Akaashi's life in the last two years had been hard to accept, if it wasn't for the messages and calls Keiji doesn't know how he would have endured missing him, he knew that he missed Bokuto, a lot, too much, but it was normal, or so he thought, it's normal that you miss a friend you haven't seen for two years.

When he picked up the phone to check it it was his lunch break, he was sitting in the university cafeteria with an almost finished last onigiri and a cup of hot tea. Scroll through the messages, nothing, no sign of life from the Owl.

Another sigh, the thousandth of that day. He was about to shut down the phone when a message stopped him.

Kenma? Uh, weird, he hardly writes to me.

Kenma

Private messages

"Akaashi, are you busy?"

"Hello Kenma, what's up?"

"Kuro, he escaped to the airport"

"What- Why?"

"Bokuto, he's worried, he hasn't answered

him for days and wants to leave for Brazil"

"Oh, isn't he exaggerating?"

"That's what I told him but he doesn't

listen to me, come with me to the

airport to stop him "

“I would come but I'm at the University

and I have other lessons"

“Please, I wouldn't ask you

if it wasn't urgent"

"..."

"Okay, will I come to get you?"

"Yes, thank you, see you later"

...

Keiji sighed heavily and quickly finished the onigiri and tea before putting on his jacket and leaving the university. He quickly took the car keys and got into the car headed for Kenma's house.

He sent him a message once he arrived at his house, Kenma did not take long to leave the house and get in the car.

"Thank you for coming." The fake blonde said as he fastened his belt.

"Forget about it." Keiji restarted the car and left for the airport, it was forty minutes from Kenma's house.

"Will we arrive in time?" Keiji asked.

"I hope so." Kenma sighed. "He's an idiot, how did it come to his mind to leave for Brazil and warn me with a stupid message? He could at least take me with him."

Keiji looked at him for a second before returning his gaze to the road.

"He's worried, and honestly I’m too, I haven't heard from Bokuto-san for a week."

"Yeah we too.." The blond looked out the window. “Do you think something really happened? I hope not but..It's not like him. " Kenma looked at Keiji.

"I..I don't know.."

Kenma put a hand on Akaashi's shoulder.

"He will just be busy training, you too know how he’s when it comes to volleyball, don't think too much about it Akaashi." Akaashi nodded.

"I swear I'll kill Kuro as soon as I get my hands on him." Keiji laughed slightly.

"He's really a pain in the ass, right Kenma?"

"Yes."

...

When they arrived at the airport they immediately headed to the departure area for flights to Brazil, Kenma looked around while Akaashi texted Kuroo in hopes of receiving an answer that obviously didn’t arrive.

"He doesn't answer" He sighed "Did you find him?" He asked Kenma when he joined him.

"No, I have no idea where he is, I've looked everywhere"

Keiji tried to call Kuroo, he was waiting in line when Kenma patted his shoulder, Keiji turned to him and noticed he was pointing at something. He turned in the direction indicated.

"Mh? You found- "The sentence died in his throat.

His heart rate increased, he was paralyzed on the spot, in front of him a little further away was Kuroo and next to him an all too familiar figure with absurd hair who was arranging something in a suitcase.

When the boy looked up at him Keiji could tell that time had stopped for a few seconds, those beautiful golden eyes that were smiling at him had finally met in his blue eyes full of tears.

Bokuto was back.

When Koutaro opened his arms in a clear invitation for Akaashi the raven left everything he had and ran towards him, tears clouding his vision and his breath was short with sobs but he didn't care, he threw himself into Bokuto's arms. If it hadn't been for the strength of the two-tone they would have fallen to the ground.

“B-Bokuto-san! It's you? You're back- I- ” The words broke with the sobs.

"Hey hey, calm down, it's alright I'm here." Bokuto stroked Keiji's hair as he held him tight.

"But- How- I haven't heard from you for a week, I thought something had happened to you- I was so scared-" The flow of words was interrupted by Koutaro's lips on his, he was surprised, he didn't have time to understand what was happening that Bokuto had already parted their lips and cupped Akaashi's face.

"Keiji, I'm sorry, I wanted to surprise you and knowing me I wouldn't have kept the secret, Kuroo and Kenma helped me, I'm really sorry-"

"Do it again."

"Eh?" Bokuto observed Akaashi confused not understanding what he meant.

"Kiss Me."

Koutaro turned completely red but he didn’t hesitate, once again their lips collided, Bokuto was lost in the sweet cherry flavor of Keiji. Akaashi put his arms behind Bokuto's neck to hug him even more and finally, after two years, enjoy his presence and his lemon flavor.

When they parted they both smiled keeping their foreheads together.

"I missed you"

"I missed you too Keiji."

A cough from Kuroo made them both remember where they were, at the airport, with millions of people watching them, the faces of both turned completely red, they parted a little but not too much.

“Well, I'd say it's time for us to go Kitten” Kenma nodded and walked over to Keiji.

"I took some pictures." He put the phone in his hand. "See you lovebirds." Kenma started towards the exit followed by Kuroo.

Keiji and Koutaro looked at each other and giggled.

"Let's go home." Akaashi took Bokuto's hand and made their fingers intertwine, Bokuto smiled and squeezed Keiji's hand.

They got into the car, Akaashi was fastening his seat belt.

"Hey Keiji"

"Yes?"

Akaashi turned to him and Bokuto left a short kiss on his lips.

"I love you, I always have, I swear I will never leave you alone anymore." Tears formed again in Keiji's eyes, tears of joy that Bokuto hastened to wipe away.

"I love you too Koutaro."

They kissed again before come back home, together.
