Jisung arrived 20 minutes later and he had a plastic bag in his hand.
“What's in the bag?” Chenle questioned as he opened the door.
“Hello to you too,” Jisung said, then he stepped inside and removed his shoes.
“Sorry, hi,” Chenle smiled up at Jisung and his heart instantly melted. “Now tell me what's in the bag.”
Jisung leaned forward and kissed Chenle, “Patience dearest,” Jisung said when he pulled away.
“So you've been learning from me,” Chenle said to Jisung. He was already heading to Chenle’s room leaving Chenle at the doorway.
“So you admit you do kiss me to distract me then,” Jisung called out to Chenle, as he sat on Chenle’s computer chair.
Chenle entered his room then made a beeline for the tall boy sitting in his chair. He stopped in front of the chair, put his hands on the armrest then leaned forward. “I do not,” Chenle said then he kissed Jisung. “You taste good,” Chenle said like it was the most normal thing ever. Jisung was left in a daze.
“the bag?” Chenle said and Jisung handed it to him wordlessly. “Thank you, baby.” Chenle looked through the contents of the bag. He saw multiple different colours of string and other craft supplies. He looked at Jisung with confusion.
Jisung cleared his throat and said, “Maybe we could try making each other bracelets. It could be a re-match for when we tried painting each other's nails because you know last time…”
“yeah,” Chenle agreed.
They still couldn't find a clear winner from that day. Even when they asked their friends to vote, they were more concerned about how their nails became that messed up instead of choosing whose nails they liked more. Jisung and Chenle bullshitted a story that their friends believed for a while. That was until Jisung accidentally exposed the real truth as to why they looked like their nails had been through World War 3. Their friends thought that made more sense than doing each other's nails wearing Pregnancy labor simulators --kind of, their nails did look really bad.
Jisung and Chenle sat on the carpet over his cold hardwood floors and they dumped out the bag of stuff into the space between their crossed legs.
“Ground rules: No kissing or flirting. This is a competition and that would be an unfair advantage for you.”
“Hey,” Chenle pouted. “no fair.”
“That is very much fair.”
“Then you can't act cute.”
“My cuteness is natural.”
“You and I both know you'll try to weaponize your cuteness and use it against me,” Chenle said, then he pressed his lips into a thin line.
“Fine, no flirting, no cuteness, and absolutely no kissing.”
“Seems boring.”
“Seems like you think you might lose.”
“I won't. No matter what I do or don't do to you, you still have poop hands.” Chenle laughed.
“Will you ever let me live that down?” Jisung groaned.
“Not in a million years, Park Jisung.”
With that, they began making their bracelets for each other. Jisung looked through string colours and picked out the colours he liked while Chenle went straight for the letter beads first.
“What are you smiling about?” Jisung asked Chenle.
“Nothing, I'm just making something really meaningful and it's making me smile.” Chenle bit his lip to try and stop himself from smiling.
“cute.”
“shut up.”
Jisung cut long strings of purple, green, and yellow of equal lengths then he looped and knotted them. He slipped the loop over his second toe then separated the six strings into three strands.
“Jisung,” Chenle said horrified, “what are you doing? I like you a lot, but I don't want to wear anything that has been on your toes.”
“But I need to braid it and I have nothing else to hold it.” Jisung pouted.
“Don't pout at me, cheater.”
“I didn't even know I was,” Jisung said, defending himself.
“yeah, and I didn't know I was seducing you so I would win our nail painting competition.”
“What?”
“nothing.”
“Just for that, I will continue using my toes to help me braid.”
“Oh, come on,” Chenle threw his hands in the air, careful to not ruin his bracelet. “I'm making you the most precious bracelet in bracelet-making history.”
“You know now that you mention it, that smile of yours looked more sinister than anything.”
“don't you trust me?”
“with my life,” Jisung answered quickly. “but not while we compete.”
“I'm hurt, truly,” Chenle said.
“lemme see it, then.”
“No.” Chenle made a fist over his bracelet, creating a mini fortress Jisung--and all this cuteness--couldn't break into.
But he still tried.
Abandoning his bracelet on his toe he reached for the one Chenle was making. Chenle extended his hand as far back as it could go but Jisung extended his long arm back, almost reaching the beaded string. Chenle tried to lean back but fell back as well. Jisung towered over Chenle and put his long fingers over Chenle’s fisted hand which now laid next to his head.
“Oh? We're doing this again?” Chenle smirked, “because I'm here for this, really.”
“you're flirting to try and distract me,” Jisung said, looking down at his boyfriend.
“look at the position you have me in and ask yourself who's flirting here.”
“it's probably still you.”
“Whatever, but you can't penalize me because you put me in the position.”
Jisung pretended to think it over, “then let me use my toe to braid my bracelet for you.”
“ugh...fine.”
“Awesome,” Jisung said, then he quickly pecked Chenle’s lips and sat up.
“I'll let that kiss slide this time, only because you stopped trying to see my surprise bracelet for you. but don't be expecting any more Mr. Nice guy.”
“Okay, Mr. Not Nice guy.” Jisung chuckled.
Chenle rolled his eyes then sat up, “you're so lucky I like you.”
“I am.” Jisung agreed.
“shut up.”
They got back to making their bracelets, Chenle had his back facing Jisung so he couldn't see the bracelet.
“Boyfriend?” Jisung said in English. (he loved saying it.)
“Yes, boyfriend,” Chenle replied in English. (Jisung loved hearing it as well.)
“ Before we started dating, before we kissed, what did you think of me?” Jisung asked.
Chenle turned his head to the side and looked back at Jisung, “why so curious all of a sudden?”
Jisung shrugged, “I just wanted to know.”
“You were too cute for your own good. You still are.” Chenle said, and Jisung could hear his smile. “...there were also multiple times where I just wanted to cup your cheeks and kiss you.”
Chenle looked back to see where Jisung was and he laid back, head landing in Jisung’s lap. “Why are you so cute, anyway?” he squinted up at Jisung.
Jisung felt his cheeks warm at the compliment. He looked down at Chenle whose fringe was almost covering his eye. Jisung brushed the soft black hair away from Chenle’s eyes.
“Aren't you going to kiss me now?” it was rare for Chenle to ask for a kiss, he usually just took them. So, this was the closest Jisung would get to his boyfriend asking for affection. “don't look so shocked. I like kissing you, that shouldn't come as a surprise. We've been doing it for months now.” Chenle said, nonchalantly.
Jisung cupped Chenle's cheeks and chin then tilted his head up. “Stop smiling and just kiss me,” Chenle said, but his cheeks were turning pink and he was smiling too. Jisung leaned down and kissed Chenle with a loud smack. “hey...what was that?” Chenle brought his hands to Jisung’s face and pulled him back down. The position, slightly awkward, made them both smile.
“I can't kiss you if you're smiling,” Jisung whispered.
“I can't kiss you if you're smiling, either,” Chenle whispered back.
“Okay, let's both stop smiling then.”
“Okay.”
They both fell silent for a few seconds before bursting into laughter.
“This is why we can't be cute like other couples,” Chenle said in between laughs.
“I'm all the cuteness you need,” Jisung jokes.
“No...cringe,” Chenle wrinkled his nose, then he got up and wiped his tears. “Finish your toe bracelet for me.”
“got it,” Jisung said, in a cute voice.
“Did you cringe as much as I did just now?” Chenle said, his back still facing Jisung.
“...yeah,”
~
“Jisung, are you done yet? Hurry up,” Chenle said from his bed. He had finished his bracelet and even made a second one.
“I'm adding one more charm then I'll be done.”
“How long did you make the braid?” Chenle asked.
“enough to wrap around your wrist twice, so yes, I am taking a long time but it's because I care. plus the charms are hard to put on, so.” Jisung went silent so he could finish putting on the last charm. “oh...kay I'm done.”
“Finally, come here,” Chenle beckoned.
“What do you mean “finally”, Jisung furrowed his brow. He wasn’t actually upset though.
“I’ve been waiting to show you my masterpiece and I want to see yours,” Chenle said.
Jisung sat on the bed across from Chenle, he had his bracket hidden in between his balled-up hand.
“Gimme my toe bracelet,” Chenle joked, he wiggled his fingers off his upturned palm.
Jisung placed the bracelet into Chenle’s palm. Jisung examined Chenle’s face, as Chenle examined the bracelet. “Do you like it?”
“I love it, Jisung, and every single charm you put on it, but how did you get hold of so many dolphins?”
“I ordered them in bulk a little bit ago,”
“How long ago was a little bit ago?” Chenle questioned.
“After we kissed…for the first time--”
“--Jisung!--”
“I was pressured! The deal was so good, and they reminded me of you. everyone says you have a dolphin laugh and I love your laugh and I just thought--”
Chenle cut off Jisung with a kiss. “How did I get the sweetest boyfriend in the world?” Chenle said after he pulled away.
Jisung shrugged shyly.
“Put it on for me, please,” Chenle asked. Jisung took the bracelet from Chenle's hand and wrapped it around his wrist twice, then he secured it at the end. “Thank you. Okay here's mine.”
“Chenle’s,” Jisung read from the bracelet and Chenle started laughing, “are you trying to brand me as yours?” Chenle only laughed.
“You have to wear it, I'm wearing your wonderful dolphin bracelet,” Chenle shook his wrist in Jisung's face.
“There are hearts on it as well...” Jisung mumbled, pushing out his lips.
“yes, I know.” Chenle tapped Jisung’s lips, “stop pouting, I already know how cute you are.” Chenle took the bracelet from Jisung and put it on his wrist, “perfect, now you're Chenle’s.”
~
“Jisung?” Chenle said after a couple of moments. Jisung paused fiddling with his “Chenle’s” bracelet and looked up at him. “close your eyes for me, please,” he did. Jisung felt Chenle take his hand and wrap something around his wrist. “Okay, open your eyes now.”
Jisung opened his eyes and looked at his wrist, Chenle had placed the second bracelet he made on Jisung's wrist. Jisung read out loud, “Love...” in English.
“The bracelets go together,” Chenle said, as he looked away. Jisung noticed a blush appear on Chenle's cheek. Cute.
Jisung read both bracelets together, Chenle’s Love , and-- oh, now it made sense why Chenle got so shy. “Chenle’s love, I'm your l--”
“Yes! you don't need to say it out loud.” Chenle was becoming pinker by the second. Chenle got up but before he could get anywhere Jisung pulled him into a hug and a tight one at that. He didn't want to let him go. Eventually, Chenle gave in and buried his head into Jisung’s neck.
“don't make fun of me for this,” Chenle mumbled into Jisung's neck.”
“Why would I?”
“because I would make fun of you if you made me something this cheesy.”
Jisung lifted Chenle’s head by his chin “well then you're lucky I'm not you,”
“Yes, I am, but that was cheesy and I'm never doing something like that ever again.” Chenle untangled his arms from Jisung and flopped onto his bed. “god Jisung, why do you make me so cheesy?”
“It comes with the territory,” Jisung shrugged.
“Oh my god, I can't believe that I'm in love with this guy,” Chenle said to himself, baffled.
A smile spread across Jisung’s face, “if it makes you feel any better, I'm in love with you too.”
“Okay, that does make me feel better,” Chenle said, from his bed.
“good.”
“Good,'' Chenle mocked, trying to make his voice deeper to match Jisung’s.
“You just love to mock me don't you?”
“It comes with the territory,” Chenle said, copying what Jisung said earlier, in a deep voice.
Then Jisung jumped on the bed on top of Chenle and began to cuddle, tickle, and squish him. which warranted high-pitched screams and fits of giggles from Chenle. It came with the territory.
later on that same day:
“Did you just smell your bracelet?”
“no.”
“you did! Chenle, my feet don't stink!”
Chenle laughed.
