Work Text:

Aah. The Kingdom of Loathing.

Such a quiet place, with inhabitants in all corners. Not a single track of war, conflict, or even violence… today is going to be such a quiet day-

“OI EVERYONE! WAKE UP! IT’S TIME WE GET SOME STUFF SLAPPING.”

Sigh. What just now? Who dared to disturb this peace of mind. This tranquility that everyone aspired to! This… oh, who am I to even care at this point.
A black woman entered the large living room, lightened by the sunshine, exposing by the south-east direction. She readjusted her buns perfectly, before closing the door behind her, that led to the garage, where the big galapagos tortoise that we know as Giselle was parked in. But let’s not forget about that lady, shall we? As a narrator with the omnipotent point of view, it is my duty to introduce this wonderful gal that doesn’t know who I am nor hear me-

“Shut up, narrator. It is MY turn to wake the others, not yours! Content yourself by introducing me and the others.”

Oh. So she can hear me. Alright. I will do as you tell me, then.

This woman that just spoke to me is named Marjolaine Djiran. We also know her as Maggie. She actually went by another name back then - but for her own security, we will not mention it here. Basically, she’s a princess on the run: after confessing to her parents that she did not want to engage with a man and getting crowned, she escaped her castle, and now, every one of the guards from the royal family are after her. You may wonder why she did that, exactly? The exact reason being that she is lesbian. It is after confessing it to her grandmother, who supported her, that she resolved herself into running away from the pressure of being next in line - or more like, next next, since her parents were first in line. And here she is, now! She goes by a nickname, and soon learnt about Saucerorcy and joined the arts of alchemy, to blend in. And she seems to like it that way, now!

And so, now this Marjolaine fellah is introduced, off she went to the kitchen, and she ruffled in the fridge. But soon enough, another person came, climbing down the stairs. Another woman, this time with long, luscious blond hair, and a pair of hazel eyes - and grey and pink slippers. She wore her sleeping mask off, as she stretched, now standing next to Marjolaine.

“Gee, Maggie! You’re going to wake everyone else at this rate!” she retorted to her.

“Well, they’ll have to wake up in some way, anyway! They have to help prepare some event, after all…”

“Oh… you’re right. Here, anything you’d need help with?”

This blonde babe that we heard talking is going by the name of Macie! Trans queen as she is! She lives both of her passion for dancing and kicking ass as a Disco Bandit. She started from scratch: being in a gardener's family at first, she then got interested in music and, once she was grown up, she could leave the familyhood and make her transition smoothly. Starting that day, she fights actively for trans rights - and the love of her closest ones. Just like Marjolaine, for instance, who has been proven to be the bestest of friends she ever got to meet… along some others, with whom she shares this big house, such as-

“Good morning, everyone,” a voice whispered once it was in the kitchen. “Morry is preparing himself in the bathroom. He’ll come soon. Is there anything I can help with?”

“Sup there! Here, mind helping us with setting the table, while Macie and I finish cooking?”

“Sure!”

This enthusiastic lad that just spoke up, before picking plates and cutlery, goes by the name of Veronica Lopez! A devoted Accordion Thief that is in search of peace, after living in constant war between her actual clan and the other one. Indeed, first originating from the Mariachis clan, she got sick over her familia’s pointless principles and sneaked out of her headquarters, to join the Accordion Thieves, who search only one thing: bringing back peace between the two clans, like it used to be. She soon joined this calm household which had welcomed her in as a friend, and not an ally - nor an enemy, thankfully. She was sixteen only, and she already thought of a better world.

So now, here are our fellows! Marjolaine was now completely done turning the eggs into a giant omelette, Macie was shaping the toasts into hearts, and Veronica was setting the table for everyone else… there seemed to be six plates posed on the table. So, who was missing?
It was as soon as I asked this question that a young boy appeared, with his long red hair tied into a bun. He seemed to have clothed himself in a rush: his shirt collar was half closed, his bangs were kind of messy, and most of all, he forgot about his prescription glasses! What a clumsy boy! Thankfully, Veronica noticed him. He asked her:

“Um, Vera… I might need some help with my shirt there-”

“Ah! There you are, Morry,” she smiled warmly at him, as she walked to him and started buttoning his shirt up. “Golly, I see you don’t have your glasses! It’s quite the miracle that you walked down the stairs unscratched. Where are they?”

“T-They must be on the table, next to the closet…”

“I’ll go find them. Just wait here, we might need help with the preparations.”

“You’re a sweetheart, Vera… thank you.”

Veronica smiled before kissing his cheek, then ruffled her hair before she went upstairs. Morgan blushed, looking as she would go - or at least, he assumed her shape walked up the stairs.
Allow me to introduce you to Morgan Shodual, the only boy in this whole house - you will see why soon. This boy has a mysterious and tragic past. Coming from a family with peculiar traditions, he was abandoned while he was still in the cradle, and quickly got rescued by a man with a golden heart. He welcomed him in his house, then in his guild, to learn about Pastamancy - an art that he soon tamed and grew into it. Morgan is the scaredy cat of the whole gang, and has a hard time standing for himself. But he knows that he has the presence of his friends to help him through the world, the ones who welcomed him in, because they knew he had some potential - according to what they told him.

Soon enough, Veronica came back with a pair of prescription glasses - it was Morgan’s! The said boy thanked her a last time before he could put them on his face, under his bangs covering his right eye. Veronica then held his hand, dragging him to the dining room. Here, the two other ladies were checking a list, writing stuff down with a pen.

“So, let’s see. Omelette is ready. Toasts are in shape. The orange juice is freshly pressed and ready. Vera, is the table set?”

“Yup!”

“Perfect. Morgan, mind setting the little paper crafts you and Vera made last week on the plates?”

“O-On it!”

“Good. Only thing left is the decorations… I’ll call Annie over,” Macie picked her phone and dialed the said lady’s number. She soon answered, and Macie asked her about her progress.

“The decorations from Jack’s house are just here!” a female voice boomed on the phone. “Only thing left is to come back home with Giselle, and we will be able to place them!”

“Great. Make sure to not come back too late, though. As soon as you come back, we’ll be able to place them. See you.”

“Bye guys!”

The lady rejoiced then ended the call. She was swinging happily on one side to the other, her long ginger hair flowing along. She hummed. Then, she looked at the giant tortoise she was sitting on: it was no other than Giselle! And she seemed okay. Which was making her happy.
This lady here is Ahana McCord. The Turtle Tamer of the whole gang, and an active ecologist, in all kinds of aspects. Nobody truly knows how and where she came to this world, but what we do know is that she grew up learning how to tame the turtles from her native village, until she moved to Seaside Town, where she met up with Stella, in highschool. They grew as friends until she joined the same guild as hers, where she had to fight against her to get back the Turtle Tamer’s artifact. Such a concluding epilogue that then ended up in her just wandering around the kingdom, until she fell on the squad that was in desperate search of a Turtle Tamer. Offer that she accepted. And here she was now. Quite literally. She was now going back to the squad’s headquarters, while the other members were about to be settled…

“Okay,” Macie started. “I’ll wake her up. As for you, be prepared to help Annie with the decorations. I’ll drop a message to Maggie when she’ll be ready.”

Everyone threw thumbs up at her, before she went upstairs. Macie then made it up to a set of doors on either side of her. There were about four doors on each side, leading to a different room each. She walked on tip toe till she reached the bottom right door. She gently knocked on it, then opened it.
The sight showed a bed with a window next to it. The sunshine struck and revealed, at the spot where the pillow was situated, a flick of blond hair that happened to be short, and messed up, most probably because the person was moving in bed. Macie smiled. She then walked to the bed, then kneeled down next to it. She slowly reached a hand to the mass of hair, and ruffled it gently. She then heard a grumble, before the hair disappeared under the blanket. Macie chuckled, before she whispered:

“Wake up, sleepy head. Everyone’s waiting for you downstairs.”

“Mmm… five more minutes…” the mysterious person behind the hair mumbled.

“Alright. I will let you stand out of bed. Join me out of your room once you're done.”

Now Macie was gone, the person hidden behind the sheets moved again. It slowly moved up, then raised its upper body, so it’d sit down in bed. And there she was : a strong-built girl with messy, short blond hair, and a pair of clear blue eyes. She stretched and yawned. After a good five minutes of stretching, she could stand up.
It was no other than the one, the only, the tremendous Seal Clubber: Sonja Swiftyswing! Her life as a whole is very long to explain, so much that actually, it’d be too long for this chapter to ever behold. So, if you really want to learn more about her, I recommend you read the book entirely dedicated to her character, linked just below:

https://docs.google.com/document/d/1HqPa1rshLZjbccsPZLwQ4aszgrYv7yRl-_uW4KU7QMA/edit

But outside that, Sonja is most probably the most famous feller known in the whole kingdom. Everyone around her heard about her glorious fight against her Nemesis, even those coming from the nearby kingdoms and countries! Her story is an example of courage, cunning and power - no, this is not a promotion for my own book.

Anyway. Sonja now stood up and walked to the door, just next to Macie. She held onto her hand, as both ladies walked to the stairs.

“By the way… where are the others?” Sonja asked Macie. “I haven’t seen them upstairs…”

“Then that must mean they’re downstairs! How about we check that out?”

Both of them climbed down the stairs, and soon made it to the dining room, where everyone was waiting for them, so they would all sort out a big, melodious SURPRISE! in delight.
Sonja marveled to the sight. On the table were placed exactly six plates, with the same exact amount of omelette Marjolaine would know to cook, with the same exact number of sausages for everyone - outside of Ahana’s plate, which turned out to be filled with slices of fruits of all kinds… she is vegan - and cute’ol toasts shaped as a heart. The table was decorated with glitters and small paper crafts placed just next to the plate, of many colors coming from the rainbow. Lastly, just in front of the table, there was a huge banner with HAPPY BIRTHDAY written on it. All the other members smiled widely at her, while she looked all astonished.

“Y-You guys… prepared all of this in the morning? Y’all must be kidding.”

“Dude! It’s literally nine in the morning! Literally the latest we know you wake up to,” Marjolaine replied teasefully. “It’s your big day today. And we wanted to do something just for you. So, yeah. Here you go. We made your fave food for breakfast.”

“Whoa, you guys, I… I don’t know what to say… thank you?”

“You’re welcome!” Veronica replied. “Now then, how about we taste some of Maggie’s delicious cooking?”

“I agree. Let’s go taste that marvel!” Macie commanded, as they would all rush to the table with appetite rising in their stomachs.

“Wow… that must be tasty…” Morgan wondered to himself, while everyone else sat down and started digging down their plates.

“What about you, Annie? How would you find your own food?” Sonja asked her while both of them were holding hands…

“These fruits are so fresh and tasty! Do you wanna try them?”

“Yes… I wouldn’t mind.”

And so, it was yet another peaceful day at the Kingdom of Loathing. Everyone was living the best of their lives, on that special occasion that was a birthday. Here, in the Super Pals Squad, we could tell that they were having plenty of fun.

And again, happy birthday, Sonja!

“Thanks,” Sonja replied to me. Oh- uh… you’re welcome.
