The Letter

Summary:

Nathalie finds a letter written by Emilie to Gabriel.

Work Text:

Nathalie accidently came across Emilie's letter, the woman whose corpse Gabriel kept in the catacomb below the mansion, in the hopes of using the Cat and Ladybug miraculouses to bring her back from the dead.

She didn't think it was ever going to work, but, trying to get them kept him from being swallowed by grief.  If that meant she had to work for the supervillain who is terrorizing Paris, so be it.

"Gabriel, I'm writing this letter to let you know that I've been lying to you.

I know you slept with Audrey 15 years ago, and I retaliated by sleeping with my brother-in-law.  It was meant to be a one night dalliance, but I felt a connection with him that I've never felt before.

We used the Butterfly and Peacock miraculouses to steal jewelry.  We were secretive and stayed in the shadows, never out in the open to be seen by the press.

One day the Peacock miraculous became damaged, but I could not stop using it, and now I am dying.

I don't want to spend my last moments living a lie.  I'm going to use the miraculous one last time, to create a sentimonster so you won't be lonely, and our son will have a stepmother.

Goodbye Gabriel, send my love to Adrien.  P.S.  You should get to know Audrey's daughter Zoe.    Emilie."

The letter was dated the day she died.  What's this about a sentimonster woman?  She must have been too sick to make one.

Did Gabriel ever read this letter?  Probably not, he's so convinced that they will be together after she is brought back to life.  Then again, Mr Graham de Vanily was dead.  Did Gabriel have a hand in his death?  That's ridiculous--he's a supervillain, not a murderer.

"But what if that doesn't stop Emilie?" she said.  "If she leaves, Gabriel and I can finally be together.  I will be the catalyst to make him achieve his goal."
