Doyoung gritted his teeth as the whistle rang out for the third time in the past ten minutes. Doyoung tried his best to keep himself calm as he stopped and turned around to see the referee walking towards him.
Fucking brilliant. thought Doyoung as he tried to not let his anger and frustration show on his face and sent a stiff smile towards the referee.
“What’s the problem this time, sir?”
“Your boy touched the ball.”
Doyoung looked back to where the referee was pointing at Yuta. As much as Doyoung wanted to fight with the referee because he very damn well knew that one of his best players wouldn’t make a stupid mistake like touching the ball with his hands, he resisted the urge. They wouldn’t be able to win the game if they were kicked out for misbehavior.
“Sorry! I’ll make sure that doesn’t happen again,” said Doyoung with a small bow and moved back towards the sidelines with his team as the referee announced a penalty kick for their rival team.
“What the fuck, captain? You know-”
“Yuta.” sighed Doyoung. “I know you wouldn’t do that. But I can’t fight with this referee.”
Yuta looked clearly dissatisfied with Doyoung’s response but nodded and turned his focus onto the penalty kick. Just as expected the other team scored a goal and earned yet another point, leaving them behind by 3 points. Doyoung shook his head as he turned to his team and motioned for them to gather around.
“Okay, boys, listen up. These fuckers are not afraid to play dirty and they will keep playing like that. And as much as I’d like to give them a taste of their own medicine, we can’t. We can’t stoop down to their level and play dirty.”
Jungwoo huffed as he side-eyed their rival team, “Then what do we do, Captain? This has been going on ever since the game started. We can just sit back and let them do whatever the fuck they want!”
“Exactly! Captain, that’ll make them think we’re weak losers who can’t even stand up for themselves!” agreed Mark.
Doyoung let out a sigh, “Tell me one thing. How many times have we played against this team?”
“None.”
“If none, then why are we putting our team and our position amongst other teams in the finals up for risk by trying to take revenge? Have you all forgotten how hard we’d worked to get here?”
The boys shook their heads as Doyoung stood up straight, “Good. Now forget all about revenge with fouls. Focus on taking revenge by winning the damn game fair and square. Is that clear?”
“Yes, Captain!” shouted the boys as their team moved back to the field. A new fire lit in them due to their captain’s pep talk. They could do it!

Yuta’s eyes widened in shock when Jaehyun was pushed to the ground. Oh no. This was bad. He turned around to find their Captain, wincing when he saw the murderous look on his face. As much as Yuta hated their rivals, he couldn’t help but feel bad for them as their captain stomped over to where Jaehyun lied in obvious pain with the boy who pushed him standing nearby. It was known by everyone that their Captain had a soft spot for Doyoung even though the two of them hated each other down to the bones.
Initially, when the two of them had expressed their enemy-ship, the team had been scared. Scared that their team might suffer due to their mutual hatred. Thankfully it turned out that no matter how much Jaehyun and Doyoung hated each other, they did not let it affect their team.
That brought Yuta back to the main topic at hand. Jaehyun’s sprained ankle and Doyoungs volcanic anger. Yuta watched as Doyoung helped Jaehyun up while arguing with the referee. It went on for the next ten minutes and would’ve probably gone even longer if the boy who’d kicked Jaehyun didn’t speak up.
Clearly whatever he said was frustrating enough to Jaehyun because the normally calm, non-violent man had just thrown a whole-ass punch onto the other boy’s face. Oh no.
**
“Let me fucking go! This little fucker has been trying to trip me for the past 15 minutes! I-”
“Shut the fuck up for a minute, Jaehyun!” groaned Doyoung as he held the other boy back, with his hands wrapped around Jaehyun’s waist to avoid letting him beat the rival team up.
Jaehyun gritted his teeth and forced himself to calm down as he watched the referee send him an annoyed glare and talk to the rival team for a few minutes before moving to talk with both the coaches.
“Today’s match has been canceled due to one of our players sustaining an injury. The new dates for this match will be posted soon!”
“Did they just-”
Doyoung nodded, “They just did. Honestly, I pray for more patience.”
Jaehyun huffed as he forced Doyoung to let go of him, “I just pray for a gun. And as much as I’d like to continue our conversation, I’d prefer it if you piggybacked me to the cafeteria and bought me food for all the trauma I was put through.”
Doyoung rolled his eyes as he bent down slightly for Jaehyun to get on, “Don’t get used to this. This is a one-time thing for sure.”
Jaehyun smiled and wasted no time as he climbed onto Doyoung’s back, “Ah, don’t worry captain. I’ll keep it in mind.”
Doyoung huffed out a chuckle as he started walking. He had certainly not expected the day to end like this.
