Work Text:
The Scarlet Witch had been on a one-day mission with Spiderman, somewhere across the country only to have been called up a couple of hours later. She had been called by Steve explaining to her that Natasha and their sons were in the medical bay.
It was thought that Tommy had either fractured or sprained his ankle but to be sure, they wouldn't know until all the inflammation had reduced on his ankle as they wouldn't get accurate results so he was sat with an ice pack to his foot.
Having already been on the quinjet, Wanda just wanted to return as there was a lot of waiting around on the mission and had asked Steve if she could. He told her to wait half an hour at most for back-up to arrive so that she could switch out with someone else.
Wanda was fuming, so much that she was scaring Peter with the way her eyes were flickering from scarlet to their usual green. Natasha, without doubt, had purposefully gone against her wishes and this was causing a reaction from her.
Peter had witnessed the way crimson wisps were circling her fingers, "Hey — uhm, Wanda?" The brunette looked up at him sharply as she was sat hunched over the console, "How bad was it? Because you look like you're about to lose control."
"She decided to not listen to me when I specifically told her not to do such a thing." Wanda replied but this time she had taken a deep breath before so her powers were more controlled.
Peter looked a little confused, "Who? Natasha?"
Wanda stood up a little too fast for Peter's liking and paced the space of the quinjet as she was beginning to get impatient, "Who the fuck else?"
"Hey... I'm sure it'll be fine when you get back." Peter had also stood and stepped in front of the witch to slow her pacing and help her remain calm by placing a comforting hand on her arm.
Wanda felt her eyes tearing up and she couldn't exactly pinpoint the reason as to why. It could've been the fact that this was the first time that either of her boys were majorly hurt and she wasn't there to protect or soothe them. Maybe it was the fact that Natasha hadn't been the one to call and explained what had happened and decided to break one of the few rules she had.
Peter had seen this and immediately engulfed his friend in a tight hug which the witch instantly returned, feeling a tear run down her cheek. He ran his hand down her back to soothe her, "Wanda... um — don't cry." It was pretty useless but what could he do? He was awkward in these situations.
It took a few minutes for Wanda recollect herself but when she did, she patted the boy's shoulder and sniffed as she wiped the tear away only to see that Clint was here to take her place so they had swapped places and was on her way home after saying bye to both men. The most time it took for her to arrive back at the Avengers building was an hour or maybe it was more but Wanda was eager to see her baby.
The witch had seen Steve waiting at the entrance for her and he nodded towards her as he made his way closer. Obviously Natasha wasn't there to greet but sent her best friend.
That coward. She thought as she received a hug from Steve before the man had let her through the building to the medical area. He stopped her a few seconds before entered with a hand to her shoulder, "Don't be too angry at her, she was only doing what she thought was best."
"I will try but I can not promise anything, she was not the one to tell me and then blatantly went against something she promised not to do until the boys were a little older." Wanda replied, opening the door and letting it shut. He wasn't going to stop her because he could see that she couldn't be stopped and decided that Natasha was strong enough to protect herself.
It was as if Natasha knew she was rounding the corner because there she was standing outside the room Tommy and Billy were currently in. Natasha had the audacity to send her an unwavering smile as she stood with her guard up in her normal training clothes: a tank top and leggings. "Hi, princess..."
That was risky, they haven't been together for almost a month and considering the situation that wasn't a smart move. Wanda glared at her and used her powers to keep Natasha in place so the redhead couldn't take another step towards her. "Don't fucking call me that. I will deal with you later."
She had kept her hold on her (ex?)wife until she had entered the room which had caught the attention of both her boys. Billy rushed over to her and wrapped his arms around her middle as she heard Natasha walked over to the seat next to Tommy. The witch left a kiss on Billy's head before going over to her other son who reached out for her.
There were dried tear tracks that had ran down his cheeks whilst his foot had an ice pack placed on it. The brunette cooed at him and hugged him tightly as the little boy returned it and his mother smothered him in kisses, "How are you feeling, baby?"
"It's not that bad anymore, it only hurt when it happened but I can't move it." He looked up at his mother and whimpered, "Will I ever be able to move it again?"
Wanda looked down at him and frowned before bringing him in again before she had time to reply, Natasha cut in which caused the boy to pull out of the hug, "Of course, little one. Watch in a couple of weeks, you'll be running like nothing happened."
Natasha smiled at her son who returned it before she kissed his cheek. "Now, go back to playing on your iPad. Your mommy and I have something to talk about."
"Okay, momma." Tommy told her as she got up so that Billy could take her place. The boys returned to playing whatever game they were in as the two older women slipped out the room. Natasha held the door open for Wanda just to soften her up a little.
"Go on... scream at me." Natasha sighed as she crossed her arms and leaned against the wall whilst Wanda stood opposite her, leaving at least 2 or three metres between them.
Wanda scowled at Natasha and scoffed. "How many times have we gone over the age that the boys were allowed to start training? They are only ten and you decided to let them learn how to fight, we have a plan and you are just ignoring it."
"I didn't make them do it. They sat in the corner whilst Steve and I were sparring. Tommy had seen us and wanted to join in and I told him that he couldn't but he was adamant so we just showed him a couple of moves and then he tripped over something and twisted his ankle." Natasha explained, walking a little closer to Wanda but the brunette held up her hand to halt her which she respected and stayed still.
"I thought I made it clear that we were not going to get them involved with anything to do with the avengers until they decided what to do with their powers themselves." Wanda sighed, leaning her head against the wall as she stared up at the plain, white lights above. "Couldn't you have stayed on your floor for the day and sparred after I had come back?"
After the couple decided to go on a break, Natasha moved back into the Avengers facility whilst Wanda stayed with the children in their home which wasn't far away so the red-haired woman could come and see her children whenever she wanted.
"Oh, I'm sorry 'Miss-I-make-all-the-decisions' but they were getting pretty bored so I brought them down and they're my kids as well so why the fuck do you need to make all the rules?" Natasha was getting heated up by this conversation as was Wanda.
Wanda clenched her teeth together as her voice came out strained, "You didn't give birth to them, they didn't come out of you. They are my—"
It was then that she realised what she had come out of her mouth. Natasha clicked her tongue as she looked down at the floor whilst Wanda tried to reach for her but the assassin pulled away, "Thanks for telling me how you feel." Natasha sent a forced smile her way before storming out of the medical bay.
The witched slid down the wall and she placed her head on her knees and sighed at what she said. She didn't mean it, she never could. Natasha was just as much of their mother as was she. She had messed it all up because she was over-emotional and overreacting. Wanda knew she should give the assassin some space otherwise they would prolong the argument.
So, she sulked when she walked back into the room where her sons were yelling at each other over the game so she calmed them down before asking the doctor when she could take Tommy home. He was allowed out after the ice pack had cooled down but had to be back for an x-ray when the injury wasn't as swollen.
Wanda lifted her son with ease as Billy trailed after her. She didn't want to take them home yet because she needed to talk to Natasha and apologise. The witch had asked FRIDAY if Natasha was in her room and had received the response: "Yes, Mrs Romanoff is currently in her room."
The three of them took the elevator where they had entered the floor with Tommy asleep in her arms and Billy holding onto her sleepily as she led the boys to their room and tucked them in after changing their clothes.
Wanda breathed out to relax herself as she hesitated to knock on Natasha's door. She didn't need a response as Natasha probably heard her before she had even made a noise. The assassin glared at her as she entered the room, "What do you want, Maximoff?"
"I thought I was a Romanoff." Wanda replied, observing her wife. She saw the green eyes that were red-rimmed due to crying and her mouth turned upside down in a frown as her arms were crossed due to the fact that she was trying to close herself off but Wanda knew her too well.
Natasha scoffed but didn't answer as she looked away from Wanda. The witch sat on the bed, leaving space between the two. "Natasha, I'm sorry, I didn't mean what I said. You are their mother just as much as I am. I was being out of order in my rage."
When Natasha didn't answer, Wanda finally reached out where she laid a hand on her wife's arm. The interaction caused Natasha to look up at her, "I'm sorry, Natalia, I really didn't mean it."
Wanda could see the conflict in the assassin's eyes when she mentioned her birth name. She was the only one that Natasha had allowed to call her that and she was the one to help her to come into terms with the bad thoughts linked with that name.
"It hurt, Wanda." Natasha wasn't one to openly declare her emotions but Wanda had seen the quiver in her lip when she uttered those words which had her heart tightening at the sight of causing the older woman pain.
"I'm sorry, Nat." Wanda would apologise as many times as Natasha would allow it even if she had to spend the rest of her days doing it, she would. The older woman said nothing but the tear that slipped out of her eye said it all.
The witch immediately wrapped her arms around her wife and sympathetically murmured soft words into her ear, trying to provide comfort for the wrong things she said. Natasha didn't cry for long, actually there were a few more tears before she pulled away abruptly and wiped them away. "No, it's alright, I know you didn't mean it, it just hurt because I cannot have my own children and they—"
"They are yours, Natasha. They're ours." Wanda interrupted as her sokovian accent slipped in the first sentence. She held onto both of the Russian's hand and squeezed them as if to reassure her.
They stayed silent as Natasha managed a small smile. It was a little awkward since they didn't talk to each other much these days due to their separation but continued to co-parent as best as they could. A squeeze to Wanda's hand snapped her out of the silence as she glanced at Natasha.
"Can we get back together, malyshka?" Natasha asked, her hand tugging Wanda until she was practically sitting on top of the redhead. The assassin raised her other hand to brush a strand of Wanda's hair behind her ear before speaking again, "We're just delaying the inevitable, baby, and frankly I miss you very much."
Wanda placed a hand over Natasha's before chuckling, forgetting the fact that only minutes earlier the two were pouring their hearts out. She removed the hand on her cheek, her voice low and authoritative, "Natalia,"
A shiver ran down the assassin's spine at the tone of the witch's voice, she loved when Wanda went all mommy mode on her using the exact same voice she used on Tommy and Billy when they were being reprimanded.
"You know why we're on a break... if you sort that out then who knows what could happen." Wanda hinted which caused a sigh to escape the older woman who knew exactly what Wanda wanted her to say and do so she pulled the brunette onto her lap so she was straddling her.
Natasha leaned her head back against the headboard, which literally exposed an opportunity for Wanda to plant gentle kisses along her neck in persuasion, knowing Natasha couldn't resist her very long. "Stop..." She didn't really mean it, "You know what that does to me, detka."
"You know what that does to me." Wanda repeated, referring to Natasha's use of Russian words, more specifically terms of endearment that sounded so hoarse in the husky tone of Natasha's voice and sent a delightful shiver down her body.
"ya delayu, moya milaya devushka." Was whispered in the witch's ear when she decided to stop her teasing, hot breath hit her ear as teeth found the lobe and nibbled just slightly, deft hand slid along her thighs, only to rest on her hips where a harsh squeeze snapped her out of this sexual encounter.
"You stop it now, you're distracting me from what I need—" A sharp exhale escaped Wanda's mouth at the feel of her 'ex'-lovers hands over the bare skin of her lower back, "from— from what I need you to say, Natalia Alianovna Romanova."
Wanda persevered, scarlet tendrils stopped her assailant from proceeding any further with the seduction that would've had her caving in if she hadn't stopped it. Natasha only groaned at the use of her full Russian name that she very rarely heard these days. She knew Wanda wasn't about to let her off now.
The witch found her own form of persuasion where she rolled her hips down against Natasha's and knew that the older woman had been touch-deprived for a whole month so this tactic was surely going to shatter her resistance especially when all they did was make love most nights when they were together properly.
"C'mon, moy ubiytsa, all you have to do is agree to my terms." Wanda purred, grinning when she heard Natasha take a shape intake of breath at the feeling of Wanda against her again, "C'mon, baby, I know you can do this, if you tell me what I've been wanting to hear then I will let you have your way with me, you got that baby?"
"You got that, baby?" She reiterated, hips slowing their movement down but Natasha's caught them and sped them up again using her own rhythm. Wanda smirked, knowing she had the assassin in the palm of her hand.
"Fine!" Natasha yelled out, her eyes finding Wanda's as they darken when she opened her mouth again, "Fine! I solemnly swear that I will not jump into harms way and remember that if I die I have a family that will need me so I cannot die for that purpose, okay? Was that sufficient enough for you, my lady?"
Natasha seemed quite annoyed now but it was only because she was getting frustrated that the way Wanda's hips were moving wasn't causing pleasure to take over her senses so she needed the real thing and needed it fast but then Wanda shook her head and she groaned, "I promise that I won't go on any dangerous mission that could leave our kids with one mother."
"The first one was good enough, 'talia, I just wanted to see you sweat." Wanda giggled but was soon interrupted when full lips connected with her and a growl ripped through her wife's throat as Natasha switched their positions so she was on top as they passionately made out with each other.
"Mhmm, fuck me," Wanda moaned out, getting desperate for any kind of touch from Natasha after not having her wife for so long, "I need you, detka, tak sil'no."
"tak sil'no, huh?" Natasha murmured, cockily grinning at the younger woman who only groaned when Natasha pinned her hips to the bed with her hands, "How about..." She drawled, "you get a taste of your own medicine, huh? You think you can get away by teasing me, don't you, milaya?"
"Nat..." Wanda whined, "Please don't tease me, I'll do anything."
"Anything?" Natasha repeated, smirking at the desperate woman beneath her. Wanda knew she'd gotten herself into something totally kinky and Natasha wasn't a woman who shied away from that type of stuff either so she was actually looking forward to whatever her wife had planned.
Wanda nodded, watching as Natasha's eyes became lustful and the woman got off her and began to walk towards their drawer full of inappropriate things that shouldn't be discussed, "Clothes off, malyshka."
—
A pleasurable ache settled between her legs as she lifted her head from Natasha's shoulder and looked around, a little confused but then remembered that she was at the Avengers compound and nuzzled her head into the redhead's shoulder, smiling against the bare skin of her lover.
"I know you're awake, Nat." Wanda whispered, laying a kiss where she laid her head. The arm around her tightened and squeezed her closer so she was practically on top of Natasha who still hadn't opened her eyes to reveal the green irises that Wanda loved to get lost into.
"Let me just rest my eyes a little while longer, darling, didn't get much sleep last night." Natasha mumbled, her hand sliding from Wanda's lower back to the area just above her tailbone and if the witch hadn't moved it up a little. the touch would've been a tad bit inappropriate. "Because someone was a little to desperate."
Wanda scoffed in a good-natured way, blushing only a little. This caused Natasha to open one eye only slightly to see the reaction. "It wasn't like you weren't all for it. Asking me to call you daddy, using your biggest strap, tying my hands up... want me to keep going?"
"You loved it." Natasha smirked, not embarrassed in the slightest. Last night was what happened when two almost-exes hadn't had sex for a while and got back together before passing out together after being fucked out. Wanda had been so tired last night that she had collapsed and was incoherent for a couple of minutes which had worried Natasha slightly.
"I did..." Wanda murmured, hand tracing slow shaped across Natasha's stomach. The heartbeat against her chest slowed down which caused the younger woman to think her wife was asleep but then Natasha sighed and flipped their position so Wanda's back rested on the bed.
Wanda allowed for this to happen and ran her hand through thick red locks that were in need of a professional haircut and not one the assassin gave to herself. The redhead nuzzled her face into her wife's chest, eyes closing once again as she tried to get rid of the irritation behind them and when it didn't go so rolled over so she was by Wanda's side.
"Babe, we've got to see if our boys are up." Wanda told her, trying to get out of the amazing warmth that the duvet gave to her. Natasha only hummed, her arm reaching out to keep her wife in bed but ended up only meeting the comforter.
"Malyshka, get back into bed." Natasha mumbled, her hand falling over her eyes as Wanda turned the lights on in hopes to wake the assassin which eventually did work after a couple of minutes when she heard the shower running. Her ears perked up at the noise as she planted her feet to the cold floor.
Natasha sluggishly walked to the bathroom, making sure to keep her footsteps light so she could maybe sneak up on the witch. The steam from the boiling hot water encased her as soon as she walked in, a grin painted on her lips as she slipped behind her wife and wound her arms around her waist.
A small gasp escaped Wanda's mouth but she shouldn't have been so surprised yet she was, causing Natasha to chucked a little. "Wanna go again, my love?"
"I don't think so, Nat." Wanda murmured, eyes closing at the feeling of Natasha lips brushing against her shoulder, planting soft kisses along the soft skin as her arms tightened and she pulled Wanda flush against her front. "Nat... we can't baby, we need to see if Tommy's alright."
"There's time," She whispered into Wanda's neck, "And besides, I need to make up for the month that we spent apart."
"You got your fill last night, babe." Wanda told her, distancing herself from the older woman who only groaned and tried to reach out again but then scarlet tendrils wrapped around her wrist. She gave her wife a disbelieving stare which caused a cheeky grin to appear on Wanda's lips.
"Sorry, love but we need to hurry this along." Wanda continued, grabbing the shampoo bottle as she let go of the hold she had on Natasha when she knew the assassin wasn't going to make any her sexual advance in her direction.
An adorable pour settled on the pink lips of her lover as she cooed and grasped her chin between her fingers to connect their lips together just quickly, "That should last you until the end of this shower."
Luckily, it did. Natasha grumbled a little bit after the small peck but then the two cleaned themselves up and wrapped themselves in fluffy towels as they exited the shower. They had gotten changed into causal clothing. Natasha opted for a sleeveless halter top with sweatpants and Wanda decided on an oversized hoodie that reached mid-thigh.
Natasha grasped Wanda's hand and intertwined their fingers as they walked along the corridor to the room their sons were in, possibly sleeping or maybe even awake. Wanda peeked through the small window on the door to see the boys awake and chatting to each other.
She knocked on the door and waited until Billy opened the door when he saw who it was. "Morning, momma and mommy."
"Morning, baby." Natasha murmured as she leaned down to hug the boy and then ruffled his hair before kissing his head. Wanda pecked his cheek before moving into the room where Tommy looked up at them with a small smile.
"How's your leg, honey?" Wanda asked as she sat beside Tommy on the bed, uncovering his leg. The inflammation had definitely gone down by now but she let Natasha examine the injury as she knew more about these things. The redhead kneeled on the floor beside Tommy, eyes trained on his ankle.
"Have you tried to stand on it, Tommy?" Natasha asked softly and smiled encouragingly when he shook his head and shuffled to the edge of the bed so he could try. His mother's were ready to catch him if he fell so he knew that he was safe.
Wanda held out her hand as she could see that it was difficult for him, "Take my hand."
He did as told as Natasha stood up as well. Billy stood by her side as they watched his brother stand. It did take him a minute or so for him to stand and when he did, he fell back as the pain was too much for him to handle. His face contorted in pain and stared up at his mother's with puppy dog eyes that were filled with tears from the pain.
"Okay, let's take you down to medical." Natasha sighed before glancing at her wife who looked surprisingly calm. The redhead thought she'd be angry because of how it happened but she wasn't, "I think it could be a sprain at the moment but since he can't stand on it very well, it could be a fracture."
"We'll find out, Nat." Wanda replied, her hand finding Billy's shoulder as she led him out. Natasha allowed Tommy to climb onto her back in a piggy back ride so he could get some fun out of this situation.
"How are you feeling, Tommy?" Natasha inquired as he was quietly resting his head on her shoulder. She couldn't see his face but knew that he was probably a little upset from getting hurt and probably disobeying his mother's plan of not training until they were older. Fortunately, Wanda hadn't scolded him on that yet.
Once they'd reached the medical room, Natasha placed Tommy onto the table as they waited for the doctor to come and take a look at his ankle. It took a few tests and feeling around the injury to know what it was. He could move his ankle but it was painful for him. They also took an x-ray just to be sure.
Turns out, the injury was only a sprain and would get better with a cold compress and keeping it elevated for a few days, which meant he wouldn't be able to walk around very much. The couple took their sons to the kitchen after that so they could eat breakfast.
Sam and Steve were sat at the table also eating their breakfast whilst playfully teasing each other where there was a lot of laughter and good-natured slaps on arms. Sam grinned at Tommy when Natasha put him down and used another chair and a pillow to elevate his leg, "How's your ankle, little man?"
The falcon held out his hand for the boy to high five him which he did and then grinned up at Sam and Steve, "The doctor said it was a... a..." The word had slipped out of his mind and he looked towards his mother's for help. Natasha was listening in so she knew what he was going to say.
"The doctor said it was a sprain. He should be all healed up properly in a couple of weeks or so, ain't that right, baby?" Natasha smirked when she finished, messing his hair up as she stood behind Wanda to watch her mix ingredients in a bowl.
She rested her head on the brunette's shoulder as her hands laid on Wanda's biceps, placing a kiss at her neck, "What are you making?"
"Pancakes, want some?" Wanda leaned back into the touch and sighed at the feeling of Natasha's skilful hands massaging her arms. She could hear her sons talking to Sam and Steve, talking about the injury and then sharing 'war' stories about their own injuries that weren't very bad but they exaggerated them.
"Of course, baby, you know I can never say no to your cooking." Natasha mumbled into her neck, placing a few more kisses there before she was pushed away by Wanda as she was being distracted from the task.
"You and Wanda alright now?" Steve asked gently when she sat down next to him. His words seemed a little hesitant as he knew that the 'break-up' was awful for both parties. Maybe more so Natasha as Wanda was the first and the only person she loved romantically.
Natasha nodded, a wide grin settling on her lips even though she tried to withhold which told him that they were fine but allowed her to elaborate, "We're good, amazing even. She forgave me for being so reckless so we're back together."
"That's great news, Nat." Steve responded with a pat to Natasha's shoulder as he got up to tell Wanda that both him and Sam wouldn't mind some pancakes either since everyone in the compound loved the Sokovian's food. She only laughed but continued to make them for everyone at the table.
Once everyone had received their food, Wanda took a seat next to her wife with her own plate so she could eat her food. The kids told them about how school was going as Natasha and the other Avengers hadn't seen much of them in the past month due to the break so they caught up.
It was nice being back together. The last month or so had been so tense that everyone was walking on eggshells around the couple who seemed to not notice as they were wrapped up in their own bubbles. The kids definitely noticed the distanced and had even questioned it but never got real answers.
“Momma, are you moving back?” Billy asked, grinning at Natasha with sticky lips from the syrup which caused Sam to pass him a napkin so he could clean his mouth.
The assassin looked towards her side who sent her the exact same grin that Billy had just given her, but much cleaner and classier and nodded which was confirmation enough for the redhead who reciprocated the smile. “I guess I am.”
