i wanna be your drunk text romance

Summary:

Quackity didn’t care much about soulmates. His own was odd, he knew that much. Every night, a sentence appeared on his arm, quoting something that his soulmate had said that day, the same way everyone else’s did. He was pretty sure everyone else’s soulmates said more normal things though.

‘Let’s GO, doggy dog!’ ‘Dream, literally, suck my dick. Right now.’ ‘George, I want a kiss too!’ ‘George, I want you DEAD.’ ‘It wasn’t a big fire! It just got out of hand!’ ‘Don’t touch my fucking fish.’

Okay, maybe he did care a little bit.

Soulmate AU: Every night a sentence appears on your arm, a repeat of something your soulmate said that day. Quackity wasn't expecting much from his Friday night. Get drunk with friends, hook up or at least make out with some attractive stranger, walk home and crash into bed. So, his usual (except maybe for the hook up thing). Instead, by some miracle, he ended up in his soulmate's bed instead.

Notes:

warning right off the bat: dubious consent? quackity gets drunk and has a hookup, sapnap gets high, then they proceed to make out. this story is not meant to portray someone taking advantage of another person, they're both equally inebriated and they do not have sex, but be aware of that before reading.

Work Text:

Quackity didn’t care much about soulmates. His was odd, he knew that much. Every night, a sentence appeared on his arm, quoting something that his soulmate had said that day, the same way everyone else’s did. He was pretty sure everyone else’s soulmates said more normal things though.

‘Let’s GO, doggy dog!’
‘Dream, literally, suck my dick. Right now.’
‘George, I want a kiss too!’
‘George, I want you DEAD.’
‘It wasn’t a big fire! It just got out of hand!’
‘Don’t touch my fucking fish.’

Okay, maybe he did care a little bit. He liked writing down the things his soulmate said in his phone, bolding the ones that stuck out to him. His favorite was one that was just so soft it actually made him coo when he saw it.

“I love you too, Dad, I miss you. Let’s make muffins when I get home, okay?”

Quackity called his own dad when he saw it, even though it was 9 pm and he was probably trying to sleep, and talked to him for an hour about whatever engineering he had done that day.

When Quackity said he didn’t care about his soulmate, he meant that it didn’t affect his romance life at all. He liked going on dates, liked sleeping around if he was going to be fully honest. He didn’t get the second chance all the often, but when he did, he took it. Which was why he was walking home late Friday night with black lipstick smeared across his jaw and a phone number he had no intentions of calling tucked into his back pocket. He probably should have cleaned up a bit, but it was 11 pm and he just wanted to be in his own bed. So what. He wasn’t going to see anyone and he was too drunk to care at this point.

He did see someone.

Just taller than him, with shaggy black hair and a neck covered in bruises, a man was turning the corner just as Quackity reached it. They both paused, looking at each other, then the other man laughed.

“Hi. Going this way?” He threw his thumb in the direction of Quackity’s dorm and he nodded. “Sick, me too. I’m Sapnap.”

“Uh, Quackity,” he greeted. “Nice hickeys.”

Sapnap laughed, shaking his head. “Thanks, nice lipstick. It’s supposed to go on your mouth, you know, you might wanna tell your girlfriend that.”

“It was a dude. Not my boyfriend though,” he said, starting to walk. Sapnap walked alongside him, stumbling slightly. Quackity smirked. “Are you drunk or something?”

Quackity definitely was, though he wasn’t falling over himself half as much as the other was.

“No, just baked,” Sapnap said cheerfully. “My dealer makes killer edibles. You want one? I can probably get you some.”

“I’m not much of a drug person. Thanks though.” Quackity gave him a grin and Sapnap nodded, the movement longer than it would be usually like he forgot to stop. Quackity had always been a social guy, he liked talking and learning about new people. So instead of falling silent for the rest of his walk and minding his own business, he decided to ask personal questions. “Your dealer also the one who uh, did that to you?”

He gestured at Sapnap’s neck, raising an eyebrow, and the man giggled.

“Yeah. His name is Karl. We hook up sometimes.” He rubbed his neck and Quackity smirked. So Sapnap also liked men. Interesting. “This was before the edibles though.”

“Payment…?”

“No, he’s just hot.” Sapnap laughed. “I do get a discount though because he thinks I’m cute.”

“As he should, you do have a very discount-worthy face.” Quackity bumped his shoulder with a sly grin. Sapnap blinked, blushing a cheerful red and returning the grin as he processed what Quackity said.

“Thank you! Do you like, wanna get breakfast? I know a 24-hour place near here.” Sapnap grinned at him and despite the disheveled state they were both in, Quackity found himself nodding.

“Lead the way, pretty boy.”

Somehow, after getting pancakes at midnight, they ended up in Sapnap’s bed. Maybe he was a bit too easy, or maybe he was drunk and Sapnap was high. Either way, they were in Sapnap’s dorm room, kissing each other against his pillows. Sapnap was too out of it to do much else and Quackity was too tired to want more. Besides, Sapnap was gorgeous now that he could see him properly, long black hair with dark eyes and stubble that scratched Quackity’s face whenever they kissed.

“You’re so hot,” Sapnap breathed as Quackity pressed a kiss against his jaw. “How the fuck did we end up here?”

“I have no idea but I’m not mad about it.” Quackity nipped at his neck, grinning when Sapnap whined. “You’re a baby.”

“I could be your baby. Kiss me again?”

“Uh-huh.” Quackity was definitely easy, melting at Sapnap’s puppy eyes even as he rolled his own.

He kissed him again, light and sweet, tangling his fingers in the hair at the back of his neck. Sapnap leaned into the touch as Quackity started playing with his hair, pulling away from the kiss. If he was standing, Quackity would have swooned at the endearing sight of Sapnap pressing into his hands.

“That feels nice,” Sapnap murmured, eyes hazy as he blinked up at him, and Quackity laughed.

“I’m sure it does. You’re like a dog being pet,” he teased and Sapnap pouted.

“Shut up.”

“Make me,” Quackity shot back, raising an eyebrow. Sapnap grinned, kissing him again, deeper this time. Quackity tightened his grip on his hair, delighted with the low groan Sapnap gave in response, and-

The door slammed open and Quackity flinched back, Sapnap reacting much slower.

“Uh, sorry, I didn’t think you had anyone over,” a distinctly British voice said as Sapnap sat up, blinking at him. “I thought you went to Karl’s.”

“Why are you bursting into my room at 6 am, George?” Sapnap yawned, threading his fingers into Quackity’s hair. Something about what he said stuck in Quackity’s head even as his eyes fluttered shut under Sapnap’s touch. It wasn’t 6 am, it was closer to 1, but that wasn’t it. George. Where had he heard the name George before?

“I won’t bother you if you’re busy, I just wanted you to let me into Dream’s room.” Dream’s room. Dream? “He stole my key and locked the door again.”

“Why the fuck do you need to get into Dream’s room?” Sapnap got up regardless, pausing for a moment to tuck Quackity in. He blinked up at him, feeling his cheeks warm at the sweet gesture. “Just hold on here, Q, I’ll be back in a second.”

He really wanted to read Sapnap’s arm, immediately, but he just nodded mutely as the two men left. He wiggled onto his side, unwilling to sit up and ruin the cozy way Sapnap tucked him in, and rolled up his sleeve to read today’s sentence.

‘I’ll be back by midnight, George!’

George. That’s where he knew his name from, his soulmate was always talking to a George. Quackity rubbed his thumb over the tattoo, brain reeling. He was drunk, sprawled out in his soulmate’s bed, and said soulmate wasn’t even the one fucked that night. He was in his soulmate‘s bed. His soulmate who probably didn’t know they were soulmates.

He was too drunk for this. He groaned, covered his face with both hands.

How did he even bring this up without sounding desperate? If some random dude he met that night asked to see his soulmate tattoo, he would bounce immediately. Did he try and bring up the Dream and George thing, or would that just come off as a lie for attention? His arm did say George, he had that going for him. That might be a coincidence though, he should try and get a look at Sapnap’s tattoo first. If he recognized the sentence on his arm, then that was proof-

“You okay, Quackity?” Sapnap asked, suddenly very close to him, and he flinched back.

“When did you get in here?!”

“Just now.” Sapnap snickered, the mattress dipping as he sat down on the covers. He played with Quackity’s hair again. “I think I’m sobering up now.”

“That’s good,” Quackity said. He tugged on the blankets. “Get back under here.”

“Can I see your soulmate tattoo?” Sapnap asked instead and Quackity jerked upright. He stared at him with wide eyes and Sapnap blushed. “Sorry, that’s definitely weird, isn’t it? I don’t wanna be weird, just, I just checked my arm since I haven’t yet tonight and it- it said something you said earlier. I’m sort of optimistic, I guess, you don’t-“

“Sapnap,” he cut him off. “I was literally going to ask you the same question, actually. It’s chill.”

Sapnap’s face lit up and he grabbed Quackity’s arm. He let the other lift his arm up, Sapnap running his fingers over the tattoo just like Quackity had earlier.

“You must get George and Dream on your tattoo a lot, huh?” Sapnap asked and Quackity snorted.

“They are literally the only reason I wanted to ask.”

“God, don’t tell them that, they’ll start thinking I owe them.” Sapnap looked back up from the stark black words, making eye contact with Quackity. They stared at each other for a moment.

“I guess we should probably talk about this?” Quackity asked. Sapnap’s eyes drifted down to his lips. “You know. Discuss boundaries and what we want out of this. Figure out if our lifestyles are compatible. Make sure that we’re absolutely soulmates. I have a collection of things you’ve said, we can check that.”

“It’s 1 am,” Sapnap replied, still staring at a Quackity’s lips. “What if we just sleep together and talk about it in the morning?”

Quackity snorted. “That’s not very responsible.”

“We ran into each other high and drunk in the middle of the night. Are we supposed to be responsible?” Sapnap finally looked him in the eyes again, leaning closer. “Now come on. Can we make out again and worry about this when I can actually think straight?”

Quackity sighed as if it was some great burden. Already, he couldn’t say no to the man, but maybe the fact that he was attractive and asking to put his lips on Quackity’s was affecting his judgment. “Yeah, sure. We have all the time in the world, I guess.”

“Fucking poggers,” Sapnap said, no irony to be found, and before Quackity could make fun of him for it, they were kissing again.
