Work Text:

There were no classes for the following day, so Miku invited Rin to her house to spend the night. It was a common occurrence; there wasn't much space at the blonde's home, so they would often hang out at the other girl's place.

Rin was excited, though she always was when something involved the teal haired girl. Maybe she had started to suspect something, but the blonde still decided to keep quiet about her crush– with time, it became that, even if she didn't want to admit it. The only thing that could be done now was to confess her feelings, but the singer didn't want to do it yet, no matter how supportive her brother was with everything.

She was there already, with chips and soda on her bag. Her brother left after accompanying her, making sure she got safely to the other girl's home– he might be the younger twin, but Len was still protective. It was sweet of him.

Rin pushed the ringbell, and waited. The sound of footsteps reached her ears, and she was ready to be hugged. Both girls smiled at seeing each other, as if they hadn't spent their recessed together all week long.

"Hi!"

"Rin! Come in," Miku exclaimed, extending her arms towards her friend. The blonde simply let herself to be wrapped in her arms, giggling softly as her chin rested on the other girl's shoulder.

"I brought something to share. I think you'll like it," Rin mumbled, smiling softly as her friend let go. "Chips and soda!"

"Chips and soda!" the teal haired girl repeated, with a grin on her face. "My favorite! Oh, I wonder how did you know?"

"I'm a wizard, that's how."

Both of them laughed, and entered the house without rush. There was silence between them, though it wasn't an uncomfortable one– Rin left her bag on a chair, taking out the snacks from it. Though, her friend was quick to grab them, excitement in her eyes.

"Do you want to watch a movie? We have all the house for ourselves," Miku announced with a smile,  sitting on the couch as she talked. There were chips on her hands already, though they were untouched.

Miku's parents were never at her home, though she didn't seem to mind. She got used to it with the years, though Rin thought it was a bit lonely. But she didn't mind; they could play music at a loud volume, and that was something they couldn't do at her home.

"Sure! I'm fine with anything," the blonde said, sitting at her friend's side. She carefully let her head rest on the other girl's shoulder with a smile, as she opened the snacks and ate some.

Then, Miku turned on the TV, searching for any movie that caught her eye rather than something in specific. Though, in the end, both girls spent the afternoon chatting and not paying attention to the screen. They made dinner and played cards, until Rin started to feel too tired to continue– it was fun, but her body ached for sleep. Judging by that, it probably was past midnight.

Miku let her stay in her room alone, to change her clothes or simply go to sleep like thag if the blonde wanted, while the teal haired girl closed the doors and curtains of the house.

Rin yawned, closing her eyes as she laid on the bed, knowing well that her friend wouldn't mind if she went to sleep already. It was comfortable and she was tired... Then, the blonde felt two arms carefully wrapping her, and her cheeks and chest started to feel warm as the other girl rested her head on hers.

Miku was affectionate. Of course she would want to cuddle with Rin, she always liked doing things like these without minding anything. The singer opened her eyes in surprise anyways, tilting her head to see her friend better–

She was smiling softly, and already half asleep. It was cute...

"Good night, Rin," Miku mumbled, letting out a sigh before starting to snore. She always fell asleep first, and easily, only needing some warmth for that to happen.

"Good night, Miku," Rin whispered back.

And, with all the care of the world, she covered them both in blankets. It took the blonde a while to rest, as her chest felt funny with the close contact of her friend.

It wasn't anything rare between them, yet her heart panicked at every little thing. Love was annoying, though it also felt sweet, in a way.

The next day was really sunny, and so, the two decided to walk around a park nearby just to enjoy the good weather. It would be a shame not to, honestly.

Rin was taking pictures of everything around her, enjoying the view as if she hadn't visited the place multiple times in the past. It was pretty, and it had lots of trees– she couldn't help but take multiple pictures of the things. Her friend seemed to enjoy her excitement, though Miku had decided to sit down for a moment.

The blonde felt at peace. She felt that she was going to be able to do anything– and so, she inhaled deeply, her cheeks warming up, and decided it was time to confess her secret to her friend. After all, she would be a bit busy the following weeks, and they wouldn't be able to meet outside school for a while.

"Miku, I... I have something to tell you," the blonde murmured, sitting on the same bench that her friend was on. She looked Rin with curiosity in her eyes, and the girl felt nervous once again. "I, uh... I think I like you. You're, uh, cute."

This gave place to a long, long silence, in which the teal haired girl simply stared at her friend. Rin couldn't understand what was the feeling she was showing, but– it felt wrong. Everything felt wrong.

"... Would being with me make you happy?" Miku asked, more as a reply than anything else.

"Yeah, a lot. Ah, I mean– only if you want to. I don't mind if we just are friends, okay? I'm happy as your friend," the blonde replied, excitement leaking through her voice.

Her friend kept quiet once again, her mouth moving without producing any word. Rin didn't know what to think about that, and was getting nervous with every passing second– until Miku gently squeezed her hand, and smiled.

"I... I never had a crush. But if it would make you happy, I'm up to it," the teal haired girl exclaimed, playing with a strand of hair as she talked. "It sounds fun. And... I'm happy when you are, Rin."

"Are you sure? I don't want to force you to–"

"I'm not really sure, but there's a way to know. Kiss me," Miku said, looking to the side. Her cheeks had a reddish tint now, and as she squeezed Rin's hand a second time, her blush became a bit more intense. "I know you want to, and I want to know if I would be alright with this."

"Ah... I'll– okay," the blonde mumbled, gulping a bit and feeling her face getting warmer with every passing second.

Her lips trembled slightly once her friend looked at her again, smiling in a gentle way that only she would be able to do. Rin played with her fingers for a second, before finally getting closer to Miku– they were mere centimeters apart of each other, and then... that distance became inexistent.

All the blonde could think of was how soft Miku's lips were, and how beautiful this moment was. She felt as if her chest had a thunderstorm on it, as if her heart would explode of joy and warmth. Neither moved to deepen the kiss, and Rin respected that– she let go after some moments, giggling as an instinct more than anything, but in reality she was nervous and happy and many other things she couldn't start to describe.

"Um... What do you think? Was it good?" Rin wondered in a whisper, looking at her hands as she talked

"I... I really liked that," the teal haired girl whispered back with a grin in her face, her leg bouncing with excitement. "Let's do it again!"

The blonde felt like her heart would explode in that instant, beating quickly inside of her chest. There was no way she would say no to this, and– god, she had been waiting this moment for a while. She never expected this to happen, or that Miku would seem so happy at the idea of being with her... Rin couldn't stop smiling, not even as she kissed the other girl once again.

It was beautiful. And thankfully, it wasn't the only time it happened.
