It’s six in the morning when Draco Malfoy bangs on his door.
Harry hasn’t seen him in years, but he looks good - or at least, he would look good if his face weren’t beet red and locked in a furious expression.
“Good morning,” Malfoy fumes.
“Er, hello,” Harry replies cautiously, blinking his eyes awake.
“It has come to my attention that my boyfriend is cheating on me with you.” Harry’s jaw drops open, and Malfoy continues. “As I find it hard to believe that you would be with a cheater, I can only presume that you were unaware he was dating both of us. So, now you know.”
“I - what?” Harry croaks out. His throat tightens, and he tries to swallow down the pain. Malfoy just glares at a spot on the threshold.
Sure, Evan isn’t perfect, but he’s a good - rather, he was a good boyfriend to Harry. He was patient when Harry had to go off on cases, he brought Harry potions when he was sick, and he never treated him like some hero.
Harry clears his throat. “What now?”
Malfoy looks up. “Now, I teach you how to get revenge.”
Step 1: Invite him to a fancy restaurant. He doesn’t know we know, so he has no reason to be suspicious.
Harry chooses a Muggle place: no Wizarding press to witness the Slytherin version of a confrontation.
Step 2: Arrive early. Sit at a table for two. With me.
Harry and Malfoy wait for Evan to arrive. Malfoy’s still as quick to tease as he was back in school, but the edge of cruelty is gone, and Harry finds himself laughing more than he has all week.
Step 3: When he arrives, make eye contact. Make sure he notices us both. Then, kiss me.
The kiss is unbelievable. Harry’s going for a peck, but Malfoy’s lips draw him in, sending sparks down every nerve ending. When Malfoy finally pulls away, Harry looks up to see that Evan has already left.
Harry then looks to Malfoy. “Can I buy you some dinner?”
Malfoy grins. “I’d love that.”
