Work Text:

“Alright, kiddos!” Emi Fukukado shouted at her class as she slammed her hand on the podium that stood in the front of the classroom, “today is joint training with class 3-A of U.A! I know you guys are a bunch of first years, but don’t think you can’t kick some U.A. butt!”

It’s been a little over a year since the war ended thanks to Deku’s power and of course other heroes. Things were still in the process of going back to normalcy, since many things have changed and the way of hero society was different now, but it was getting better by the day. Her previous class had graduated in the spring, making them new pro-heroes, so now, she started back with first year students. Ever since the war ended, she felt like she needed to do more as a teacher. She began to feel down about her teaching ways, thinking she wasn’t doing her best, especially when some of her previous students got hurt when things went to shit the year before. So, she decided to be different this time around when it came to training.

“But Ms. Joke sensei!” one student with bright pink hair called out with his hand up, “we are going to get our asses kicked!”

“Language Mr. Tanaka,” Emi said, pointing her finger at the student, “and all because 3-A is super strong and has a great teacher doesn’t mean you guys can’t kick some butt!”

“You said it yourself, sensei,” another student with mouse ears called out, “they are super strong and have a great teacher! You want us to die!?”

Emi pinched her nose as her students all began to talk over each other about how they cannot fight a bunch of third years, especially the U.A third years. She thought she helped them build some confidence, but she guessed that wasn’t the case.

“Alight, settle down kiddos!” she shouted, “or I will make you all laugh!”

The students shut up immediately, especially since they knew what she was capable of with her quirk. They did not want to test her.

“There we go,” she grinned, “look, I know they got more experience and whatnot, but that does not mean that you can’t fight! You are going to go into battles where you do not know if you will win or not all the time! So, this isn’t any different! Besides, you all have the upper hand knowing their quirks! They don’t know yours! Take that as a win so far!”

“But Ms. Joke! They are still way stronger than us! We barely been training our quirks compared to them!” said a tall, green skinned student. “We don’t stand a chance.”

“Shut up already,” said a student with long black hair, dark purple eyes, and wore heavy black eyeliner over her eyes, who sat in the back of the class. Everyone to look back at them causing the student to roll her eyes and suck their teeth. “It doesn’t matter if they are stronger than us. We did a lot of training during summer camp; we could do this if you guys stop being a bunch of wimps!”

“Easy for you to say, Kurosaki,” said a male student this time with navy blue hair, “you have the coolest quirk. You are the only one here that got accepted to U.A and declined it!”

“Yeah, because they suck, Ishikawa. I only applied cause my parents,” the girl responded. “That means we can beat their asses.”

“Okay! First off!” Emi raised her voice, “LANGUAGE! SECOND! EVERYONE HAS A COOL QUIRK! NO QUIRK SHAMING HERE!” She sighed loudly then gathered herself together, “but Kurosaki is right.”

“About U.A sucking?” Kurosaki asked, raising a brow.

“No! Not about that!” Emi groaned. “About you guys getting stronger! You did so well during training camp! Don’t let the U.A make you feel weak! I did not go through all that hard training with you all for nothing!”

“Ms. Joke sensei, isn’t your boyfriend their teacher though?” asked another student with bronzed metal skin, “That means you know first-hand what they are capable of!”

“Exactly, I know what they are capable of! But I know what you guys are capable of!” Emi told them, “So, have faith in me everyone!” The class all deadpanned at the same time, causing Emi to sigh dramatically and place her hands on her hips. “Look alive, kiddos! You need to make Ketsubutsu Academy proud!”

“Yeah, screw U.A!” Kurosaki stood up, slammed her fist on her desk, and shouted. “Come on wimps! Let’s beat their ass!”

“Kurosaki, language! And don’t call the class wimps!” Emi shouted back. “Right idea, wrong execution!”

“Gotta rile them up somehow, teach!” she shouted again.

Emi sighed once more, “Look, kiddos. There is one other advantage you have!”

“And what is that sensei” asked Ishikawa.

“A lot of the 3-A kids have some sort of flashy quirk, which they rely on heavily. You guys on the other hand, know better hand-to-hand training than they do. As someone who’s quirk isn’t super flashy, I’ve always had to rely on my fighting skills, which is why I made you guys learn a lot of hand-to-hand combat. It’s useful for people with quirks like mine but also helps with flashy quirks too! A villain is going to worry more about what your quirk does to them more than fighting skills sometimes, so it’s a good way to surprise them!” Emi explained.

“But isn’t Eraserhead like you, Ms. Joke? He relies on his scarf thing. That means he probably taught them how to fight hand-to-hand too,” said the student with bronze metal skin.

“Perks of him being my lovely boyfriend,” she gloated for a second, “is that I kinda know what he teaches and with the first two rough years that 3-A had, they focused more on strengthening their quirks rather than their hand-to-hand skills. The ones you need to worry about are the ones who don’t only rely on their quirks too much.”

“That’s like almost half their class, isn’t it?!” the mouse eared student whined. "And what about Deku!? He’s literally mini All Might!”

“What she means is that since they rely on their flashy quirks, they are going to probably use their flashy quirk rather than their hand-to-hand fighting skills on a bunch of first years. Which means that if we get what we hope for, there’s a chance for us to at least do some damage by catching them by surprise.” Kurosaki said with her arms across her chest. “And what if Deku is in that class! We still have a shot to kick ass regardless!”

“Exactly! Thank you, Kurosaki! Again, language though!” Emi said in excitement. “Guys, use what we’ve been working on and take it into the battlefield! You guys could do this! You are the future heroes of Japan!” Emi grinned widely and raised her arm in the air, “who’s with me!?”

Nobody but Kurosaki raised their arm and shouted. Emi saw her students were already defeated, which she could not have. Some students lost their eye contact and others coughed off the awkwardness of the silence in the class that followed.

“I SAID WHO IS WITH ME!?” Emi shouted louder this time.

“Yeah,” most of the class said with a still defeated attitude.

“What was that!” Emi shouted again.

She heard many groans and sighs come out the students before they shouted back, but still had no excitement in their voice.

Emi sighed, “I’ll give you guys a pizza party if you win.”

The students all lifted their heads up, eyes brightening, and stood up to shout, “YEAH!”

‘Of course, they would do it for a pizza party,’ Emi thought to herself.

“Alright kiddos! Let’s go!”

Ms. Joke and the Ketsubutsu Academy students arrived to U.A. on bus, and Emi was the first one out of the bus. Outside, she saw Shouta Aizawa waiting there. Her boyfriend.

They’ve started dating at the beginning of the year, when Aizawa decided to finally take her up on an offer to go on a date.

It started when they went out for drinks one night with Present Mic and some other heroes that they both knew. After a few drinks between them, drunk Emi confessed her feeling for Aizawa; telling him that for all these years, she was playing it off as a joke, but really meant it. Drunk Aizawa agreed to go on a date with her after she did, since when he was drunk, majority of the time he did not know what he was saying, but sure acted normal. With drinking beer plus shots of tequila in honor of Midnight, both did not remember what happened at all that night. But Present Mic sure did and decided to play cupid. He told both embarrassed pro-heroes what happened, but without putting up a fight, Aizawa said he was a man of his word and took Emi out on a date. Aizawa told her it would only be one date, but that was a lie. It ended up being more, starting the relationship between the two heroes.

“Eraser!” Emi called out, excited to see her boyfriend. “We made it!”

“You’re late,” Aizawa told her as she walked up to him.

“Yeah, sorry about that,” she said, scratching her cheek with one finger, “the kids weren’t too happy to be going up against your class. Took them a bit to get onto the bus.”

Aizawa sighed, “well, if they want to be heroes, they have to suck it up.”

“You’re so mean, Eraser.”

“I’m realistic.”

Emi turned back to face her class and put a grin on her face to make the kids think everything is okay, but that didn’t help. Only Kurosaki was the one who was excited for training.

“Alright, kiddos! Look alive!” she shouted at them.

All but Kurosaki, groaned at the same time.

“Lighten up, wimps!” Kurosaki shouted at them, causing the students to groan again and tell her to shut up.

“Is she your classes Bakugou?” Aizawa whispered to Emi.

“Eh well, her short temper is like Bakugou’s, but her teamwork and motivation skills are like Midoriya,” she whispered back.

“I see.”

Emi put both her hands on her hips and put on her huge grin again, “Alrighty kids, this is Shouta Aizawa, also known as Eraserhead, my lovely boyfriend.”

Aizawa groaned along with the rest of the kids who reacted to her comment.

“Stop with the groaning!” she shouted before clearing her throat to continue. “As I was saying, as you know, he is the teacher for class 3-A and help make this happen, so say thank you.”

“Thank you, sir,” the students said with no expression.

“Is that it?” Aizawa told them, “You are all giving up now?”

“With all due respect, Eraserhead, sir, but your class are beasts!” said one student.

“Yeah! And we are just a bunch of first years!” another student said.

“So, what,” Aizawa responded with his hands in his pockets now, “you are going to be heroes. You will face someone stronger than you during your hero career. If you give up over a little training, you should not be a hero. You could walk back into that bus, go back to Ketsubutsu Academy, and change your class to general studies. Give someone else who actually wants to be a hero a chance.”

“Damn he’s mean,” one student whispered.

“How is Ms. Joke dating this guy?” said another.

“Well, that’s not gonna happen, sir,” Kurosaki smirked with her hands across her chest, “we are here to kick your class’ ass.”

Emi sighed in defeat. She was already tired of telling the students to watch their language.

“Then act like it,” Aizawa sternly said. “You will be escorted to the locker rooms so that you can change into your costumes and meet us and class 3-A at training ground Gamma, understood?”

“Yes, sir” they all said to him.

The students followed their escort to the locker rooms, leaving Emi and Aizawa alone now.

“Your class is already defeated,” Aizawa told Emi. “That’s not going to be good for you.”

Emi cheeks puffed up as she looked up to him, “yeah well, they still are going to kick some ass, Shouta. You will see.”

“It’s not looking good already, so I think I should take my win already,” he looked down at her with his usual grim face.

“Yeah, right! You will see!”

U.A.’s class 3-A was already at the training ground dressed up in their hero costumes. Ever since the war ended, many of them grew in many ways. But some of them still had their old ways.

“Where the hell are these extras!” Bakugou shouted, “I want to kick some first-year ass already!”

“Calm down, Bakubro,” Kirishima said, putting his hand on Bakugou’s shoulder. “We shouldn’t go hard on them! That’s not super manly! We were in their place once.”

“Yeah, and we went through hell and back that year,” Sero murmured to Denki, who nodded in agreement.

“I’m not going to go easy on those extras! I’m kicking their asses all by myself if I have to!” Bakugou shouted again. “We should be finished with this in 5 seconds!”

“Bakugou! Enough! You are representing U.A.! You should act accordingly!” Iida shouted at him, stiffly waving his arm in the air.

“Shut it, four eyes!”

“Kaachan, please,” Midoriya tried calming him down, “you’re going to scare them.”

“I don’t think his shouting is going to scare them,” laughed Mina, “his face probably would be the thing to scare them.”

“What was that raccoon eyes!?” Bakugou shouted at her, causing her to laugh more.

“If you keep shouting, you definitely will scare them,” Todoroki added with his monotoned voice.

“Shut it, Icy-hot!”

“Bakugou, enough!” Aizawa shouted as he walked towards his class with Emi by his side and her class behind them. “We have guests. Be respectful and act right. That goes for all of you.”

Bakugou grumbled as Aizawa shouted, causing Mina, Denki and Sero to giggle into their hands since Bakugou was screamed at.

“We’re sorry sir! I should have been on top of him more!” Iida shouted, saluting him at the same time. Iida walked up to Emi’s class and bowed towards them, “I am sorry for my classmate’s action. As class representative, I take full responsibility!”

“It’s okay, really. We understand,” the class rep of Ketsubutsu told Iida nervously. “I am Hana Chiba, the class rep of my class. We accept your apology.”

“Yeah, we understand that he’s all talk and no bite!” Kurosaki snickered, causing Bakugou’s eye to twitch.

“Kurosaki!” the whole class shouted in fear.

“What was that you witch looking brat?!” Bakugou shouted as he tried to walk towards Emi’s class but was stopped by Kirishima, Sero and Denki.

Both Aizawa and Emi sighed at the same time.

“You heard me you Pomeranian looking mother fu-” Kurosaki shouted back before her mouth was covered by Ishikawa.

“Kurosaki! Shut up!” Ishikawa whispered loudly. “You’re gonna get us killed!”

“Come here and fight me, extra! I’ll kick your ass!” Bakugou shouted back.

Aizawa groaned loudly and Emi pinched her nose.

“Alright, enough already!” Emi shouted, causing both sides to shut up immediately. Emi rarely screamed but when she did, it was kind of scary. “We are here for training! Not killing each other!” Emi faced Bakugou, who was being held back by his friends, “you of all people should not be threatening to kill people if you want to be the number one hero!”

“Yeah!” Kurosaki shouted behind her as she pushed Ishikawa’s hand off her mouth.

“And you!” Emi turned to face Kurosaki who jumped at Emi’s glare, “Language once again! And no more comments about people!”

“Yes, Ms. Joke sensei,” Kurosaki then grumbled.

Aizawa sighed loudly and crossed his arms on his chest, “Instead of talking, how about you show us what you are made of. Heroes should not gloat about how well they fight; you should be proving how well you fight by showing it.”

“Agreed,” Emi butted in shortly.

“Anyways, today’s training is different than usual. It’s not just going to be about taking down one another. It’s about making contact,” Aizawa said sternly.

“What do you mean by that, sensei?” asked Midoriya.

“Yeah, I’m not sure if I quite understand,” Uraraka followed.

“What he means is that sometimes, you need to get close to your enemy. Not everything has to be long ranged or there will be times where it can’t be,” Emi told them.

“And if there is anything 3-A lacks, it’s close counter attacks,” Aizawa added. “You are strong, but you could always improve.”

“But shouldn’t we prevent close attacks if possible?” Jirou raised her hand and asked. “I mean we wouldn’t want the enemy to get too close to us too, right?”

“Not everyone has that luxury,” Shinsou said with his monotoned voice. “Some people’s quirks rely on getting closer to the enemy. If you need to catch an enemy but you focus on your long-range attacks, there can be a chance that the enemy could get away. Depending on your quirk that is.”

“Right,” Aizawa agreed.

“So, Sensei gave us a hint before. That’s why she said we have an advantage!” whispered one Ketsubutsu student to another. “Maybe we can do this!”

Aizawa went into his pocket and pulled out two bells and showed it off to the students, “for today’s training, you will each have these bells attached to you. Your goal is to take the bells away from your opponent. Once both of your bells are captured, that person will be out.”

“Is this some kind of stupid game of tag!” Bakugou shouted, “we aren’t five!”

“Bakugou shut up already!” Mina shouted at him and slapped him across the head. “Let sensei speak!”

“It’s not a game of tag, Bakugou,” Emi told him, “It tests how close you can capture your enemy.”

“Well, it sounds like tag to me!” Bakugou shouted, causing Aizawa to get irritated that he now shouted at his girlfriend.

“If you don’t like it, I can give you a 100-page paper to write instead,” Aizawa told him. “Choose wisely!”

Bakugou didn’t answer and instead murmured under his breath with his hands across his chest.

“As Ms. Joke was saying, there are times you need to get close to an enemy. Whether it is to capture them, be on the down low to get information, or whatever the case may be, you can’t always rely on what you are best at, especially if you have a long-range quirk. Class 3-A, your job it to not only rely on your quirk too much because for all you know, you get an enemy with a quirk like mine, who can stop your quirk.” Aizawa said. “Now class 3-A. Grab the bells on your way into the training field. You have five minutes to spread out within the field.”

“Yes, sir,” class 3-A shouted at the same time.

3-A made their way into the training field and grabbed bells by the entrance before completely going into the field. Aizawa and Emi stood in front of the first years from Ketsubutsu Academy, to prepare them for what was going to go down in training.

“As for the rest of you,” Aizawa started, “Ms. Joke told me she’s been pushing for more close combat training. So, I expect to see the best.”

Emi blushed as he said that, trying to hide it from her students but they saw anyways, causing some of them either giggle or squeal.

“Besides, Ms. Joke has a bet to win,” Aizawa smirked, causing Emi’s face to now panic.

“Bet?” asked the class rep of Ketsubutsu.

“Oh? She didn’t tell you?” Aizawa raised a brow as he looked at the student, then at Emi, who clearly was in panic mode.

“Ms. Joke! What’s the bet?” asked the class rep, now also panicking.

“Psh! It was just a small bet that you guys don’t need to know about,” Emi tried to brush it off nervously. “Right, Eraser?”

“She bet that if you win, she forces me to a comedy show. If you don’t, then she’s going to punish you with 3-A training you all.” He blurred out.

“Ha, I don’t see a problem with that!” Kurosaki shouted.

“3-A gets to go all out on you all if you lose,” he told them.

The whole class looked at Ms. Joke and she thought she could see steam coming out off their bodies.

“MS. JOKE SENSEI!” They all shouted at her, causing her to wince.

“Oh, come on, it’s not that bad! If we win, you get a pizza party out of it!” Emi tried to make the situation better.

“There would be training every two weeks until 3-A graduates,” Aizawa added while smirking, causing the whole class to scream and whine.

“Alright, alright! So, I made a little bet! He’s just testing my teaching skills! But you guys could do it! I believe in you!” Emi tried to cheer them up. But that didn’t work.

“Ms. Joke! You call that little?!” Tanaka shouted.

“Yeah! This is so unfair!” Ishikawa added.

“Hey! Look at it this way! The more training you get, the stronger you will be!” she told them, now sweating.

“Not with that Bakugou threatening us!” one student said.

“And having Deku use is insane quirk on us!” said a second student.

“Can’t forget Endeavor’s kid!” said the last student before Aizawa interrupted them.

“If you are scared, like I said before, you shouldn’t be a hero,” Aizawa told them, “You either face this or go home and hang up your cape. If you were my students, you would face tougher training and would be expelled for your mindset. Be grateful you have Ms. Joke as your teacher and not me.”

“He’s right guys! If we wanna be heroes, we gotta be ready to face anything! We can’t call ourselves heroes if we make Ms. Joke lose her bet!” Kurosaki shouted at the class.

“I don’t think that correlates,” Ishikawa deadpanned.

“Like Ms. Joke sensei said before, right idea, wrong execution,” another student deadpanned.

“Either way! Let’s do this guys! Now we got more of a motive to win! If you don’t want to be stuck training with 3-A for the rest of the school year, then we better win this! Who’s with me!?” Kurosaki shouted.

“Yeah, yeah,” all the students said with no emotion.

“Oh, come on, you wimps!”

Aizawa and Emi sighed at the same time. “Alright, kiddos, get your bells and get into the field. The buzzer will go off when to start.”

“Yes, sensei,” the students all said again with no emotion.

The students dragged themselves into the field leaving the two teachers by themselves now.

“You’re an ass,” Emi pouted at her boyfriend.

“Not my fault you made a bet while drunk,” he smirked at her. “You’re too easy on them anyways. They can learn from this experience.”

“Are you judging my teaching ways?” she asked as she got closer to him, sticking her nose in the air in his direction, “because it seems like you’re judging my teaching ways.”

“I’m not judging your teaching ways,” Aizawa said as he reached to poke her cheek, “you’re just being too nice. You have to keep them on their toes, that’s all.”

“They were already on their toes with just the mentioning of 3-A,” she whined. “I shouldn’t have made a bet with you that involved my kiddos!”

“Vlad and I do it all the time,” he told her, “I don’t see a problem with it. As long as it makes the kids stronger.”

“You U.A. teachers are something else,” Emi groaned. “Thinking you’re better than everyone.”

“I never thought that,” he told her as he put his hand on top of her head. “I know you been pushing your kids since what happened after your old students had to deal with the war and its aftermath, so you should be proud about the progress they made,” he looked down at her. “You’re a great teacher, Emi.”

“You’re just saying that because you know you’re probably going to win the bet,” she crossed her arms and pouted, “aren’t you?”

“No, I’m telling the truth,” He told her as he took his hand off her head, “Besides, I know 3-A will win and I won’t have to go to a dreadful comedy show. I already told them if they lose, they will have to complete a 100-page paper before Christmas, have extra lectures after school, and have extra training. I think they aren’t going to lose after that.”

“Stop gloating,” she groaned.

“Not gloating,” he responded. “Now let’s get in there. I don’t want to make this longer than it has to be.”

“Yeah, yeah,” she said in defeat. “I hope my kiddos at least show how strong they got.”

“ALRIGHT!” Present Mic screamed into the microphone, causing Aizawa and Emi to wince. “You guys know the drill! If both your bells are removed, your wrist band will turn red and that means you are OUTTTTTT! MAY THE BEST HERO WINNNNN!” Mic slammed his hand on the buzzer, starting the training between the two classes.

The training started and Emi began to panic. “My class is going to hate me forever!” she whined.

“No, they won’t! It’s part of the hero course anyways!” Mic tried to cheer her up.

“WHERE IS THAT WITCH LOOKING EXTRA! SHOW YOURSELF!” They all heard Bakugou scream.

“COME FIND ME, YOU ANGRY POMARANIAN!” they then heard Kurosaki scream from another part of the training ground.

All three pro-hero teachers groaned.

“I need to stop drinking and making bets with Shouta,” she sighed, not being cheered up by Mic’s comment. “I gotta do it when he blacks out.”

“Be more responsible,” Aizawa told her, causing Emi to sneer.

“Shut up,” Emi then scoffed.

“No couple fighting on the clock!” Mic warned both of them.

“Stay out of it,” the couple said at the same time, causing Mic to sweat.

“Now that’s no way to act, you two,” said a different voice from behind them.

They all looked towards where the voice was coming from and saw a tall, blond, scrawny man.

“All Might!” Emi’s eyes lit up. “How have you been!”

All Might let a laugh out and smiled at Emi, “I am doing well, Emi-chan. I see you two aren’t on good terms at the moment.”

“Well, Eraser here is making my kids hate me just because I want him to go to a comedy show,” Emi whined. “He’s so mean!”

Aizawa rolled his eyes as he watched his girlfriend be dramatic, “she made a bet and now is worried that the kids are going to hate her. Nobody told her to be irresponsible.”

All Might laughed again, “lovers quarrel I see. Aizawa-kun, you should be more lenient with Emi-chan.”

“Of course, you would say that” Aizawa groaned.

“All Might, I suggest staying out of this one,” Mic warned him. “You’re going to be the next one they scream at.”

“Well, I do not want to be screamed at,” All Might said, “but if Aizawa-kun wants to keep Emi-chan, I suggest he be nice to her more.”

“Oh, All Might!” Emi dramatically said as she grabbed his arm, “you tell him!”

“Emi, enough,” Aizawa groaned again.

“Not until you make my kiddos like me again!” she told him.

“They aren’t going to hate you. They should be thanking you for all the training they will get out of this,” he scoffed.

The computer made a noise, signaling that someone was out. Everyone looked and saw the image of one of Emi’s students to be the first out.

“I’m so done!” she cried.

Aizawa rolled his eyes again, “calm down. It’s only one kid.”

The computer made another noise, signaling that another one of Emi’s students was out, causing her to dramatically fall to her knees and cry.

“I’m definitely over!” she whined.

Aizawa sighed and walked over to his girlfriend, grabbing her so that he can lift her up, “Emi, stop being dramatic, damn it.”

“This is your fault, Shouta! They are going to cancel me on social media now!” Emi shouted and poked at his chest, causing his eye to twitch.

He has enough of her dramatic ways and decided to lift Emi up and over his shoulder, causing her to try and wiggle her way out.

“Put me down you traitor! How can you do this to your own girlfriend!” she continued to whine.

“Hizashi, grab me one of those tablets now,” Aizawa said to Mic, who quickly grabbed one and gave it to him. “Emi take it.”

Emi continued to cry and whine but grabbed it anyways, then the couple made their way out the room. Mic and All Might laughed in awkwardness as the couple did.

“So, are they happy with each other or not? I’m quite confused,” All Might asked Mic.

“They’re good. Don’t worry. Emi is just the teacher of the year kind of gal. She cares about the kids a lot and what they think about her as a teacher that’s all.”

All might slightly laugh, “quite the opposite from Aizawa-kun.”

“That’s what makes them a good couple. They balance each other out,” Mic laughed. “They will be fine.”

“See, one of my students are out,” Aizawa showed her on the tablet as the training went on, “your class still has a chance.”

Aizawa brought her closer to the training ground area, allowing them to get a closer look at what was happening between their classes.

“I already lost four kids compare to your class! And you have one more kid than I do!” she whined. “And Mineta was the first one out! That doesn’t count!”

Aizawa sucked his teeth, “calm down, Emi. They have a chance still.”

The couple watched as two students got into their view now. It was Kurosaki of Emi’s class and Bakugou fighting each other.

“Is that all you got!? You’re more like a chihuahua now!” Kurosaki shouted as she used her quirk to get away from Bakugou’s attack and laughed.

“Come back here you fucking extra!” Bakugou shouted as he followed her.

“She’s the one who denied her acceptance to U.A., isn’t she?” Aizawa asked.

“Yup, that’s her. Aya Kurosaki,” Emi sighed. “I was surprised too when she came to our school over U.A. She even got into Shiketsu, but said no.”

“Did she tell you why?”

Emi nodded, “like me, she didn’t like how U.A. ran their hero entrance exam and thought it was unfair. She said she didn’t want to be a part of schools like that, including Shiketsu.”

“Smart kid,” Aizawa said. He knew how U.A. ran their entrance exam and of course disliked it, but after the war, not much changed about it. Aizawa was fighting to fix it.

“Yeah, she is,” Emi said. “Her quirk is called Black Magic. She can basically manipulate the black smoke looking thing that comes out her hands to surround her enemy and attack with it or use it to fly in the air like Bakugou uses his quirk.”

“Cool quirk,” Aizawa nodded as he listened. After Bakugou and Kurosaki left their view, two new students came into their view. It was Ishikawa and Shinsou. “How about this kid?”

“Uta Ishikawa. His quick is pretty strong too. He applied to U.A. and didn’t get in. He’s close with Kurosaki since they went to middle school together, so I think that’s another reason why she came to our school. They told me kids use to call them villains for their quirks, so they stick together a lot. He has a quirk like yours in a way. It’s called Pause.  If he makes eye contact with someone, he can make them feel like time stopped and begin to see darkness, allowing him to attack since the opponent will basically stand still and can’t move. The only thing is, like your quirk, there’s a limit to how long it lasts.”

“Does he have to worry about blinking like I do?” Aizawa asked.

Emi shook her head. “No, it’s not. We aren’t sure how it really works, but from training, we think it has to do with the opponent.”

“How so?”

“I noticed that the more someone panics or has negative thoughts while he pauses them, the longer it lasts. If it’s someone who is more optimistic, it doesn’t last long,” she told him.

“And how did you figure that out?” Aizawa asked again.

“He tried it on me, and sometimes I can be overly optimistic, so it didn’t last long; about 20 seconds or so. But he tired it on our class rep, who can be very timid a lot, it lasted longer,” she said, “it’s a wild guess, but we’ve been testing it out and it seems to be it. Many kids get scared to have it tested out on them though, so not many volunteers.”

Aizawa smirked as he heard his girlfriend talk about her students. She was very passionate about her role as a teacher, which Aizawa envied about her. “You obviously have faith in your students if you paid attention to small details like that, Emi. You trained a good group of kids.”

“Yeah, but your class is already leading,” Emi huffed.

“The gap is getting smaller,” Aizawa said as he handed her the tablet, “your kids took out Aoyama and Hagakure.”

“Really!” Emi perked up and took the tablet from Aizawa, “my babies are doing it, Shouta!”

“Yeah, they are,” he smiled at her while looked down at the tablet.

“Stop running, you witch!” they heard Bakugou scream again. This time, it was followed by the sound of destruction.

“Fuck off!” Kurosaki shouted back. “I’m not running you’re just slow!”

Emi and Aizawa both looked at each other when they heard their students trash talking each other and sighed. “We should move from here,” Aizawa told her.

Emi nodded, “That’s a good idea.”

It three to six, Aizawa’s class taking the lead.

Emi began to sweat as she watched the last three of her students, one of them Kurosaki, who was now seriously fighting Bakugou, which Bakugou told those left of class A to leave her to him and not get in the way.

“I’m so screwed,” Emi whined.

“Relax, Emi. You still have three kids out there,” Aizawa said. The tablet buzzed, signaling another student was out. “Now two.”

“Let’s just end it here and get this over with,” she whined to her boyfriend some more. “You’re torturing me!”

“The timer is almost out anyways. They have five minutes left. If we stop it now, I don’t think the last two of your kids would like that.

The timer started to count down and after five minutes was up, class 3-A defeated Emi’s class.

“AND THAT’S ALL FOKES! CLASS 3-A WONNNNNNN!!!!” They heard Present Mic through the speakers.

“Well, time to get cancelled by a bunch of teenagers,” Emi sighed in defeat. “I’m gonna stop drinking forever.”

Aizawa watched Emi as she dragged her feet towards where they were going to meet their classes. Once they made it there, Emi’s class was sitting on the ground in defeat while 3-A looked at them, some feeling sorry for them.

“Well, looks like 3-A won,” Aizawa said to the group of teenagers. “Good job, 3-A. But not good enough.”

“WHAT!” 3-A all shouted.

“Aizawa sensei! We won though! That should be good enough!” Mina shouted.

“Yeah! We tried not to use our quirks too much and still manage to win like you wanted us to!” Denki followed.

Emi’s class and Emi herself, looked at Aizawa in confusion.

“He’s so tough!” one of her students whispered to another, “maybe it’s a good thing we didn’t get into U.A.”

“Tell me about it,” responded the other student.

“You managed to allow a bunch of first years, who have not trained their quirk as long as you all, to close the gap between you. That means you need more training,” Aizawa told them.

“WHAT!” 3-A shouted again.

“Sensei please! We are tired from internships on top of training and school,” Hagakure whined.

“Ms. Joke and I used to do 48-72 hour shifts at a time when we were younger and still work as teachers, as well do patrols sometimes,” Aizawa told them, “That’s no excuse. As a hero, you’re on the clock 24/7.”

The class groaned at the same time.

“As for Ketsubutsu Academy,” Aizawa turned to face Emi’s class, causing them to tense up. “Good job on closing the gap. I can see Ms. Joke taught you all a lot.”

Emi blushed, but her class was scared to response, besides Kurosaki of course.

“Yeah! Ketsubutsu has the best teacher ever! Ms. Joke! You made us stronger!” Kurosaki told her then looked at the class, “right, guys!”

The students looked at each other, then stood up from the floor, “Yeah! You’re the best, Ms. Joke!” they all shouted.

Emi couldn’t help but tear up and run towards her class, “AW! MY KIDDOS! YOU DID SO WELL! I’M SO PROUD OF YOU GUYS!”

Aizawa smiled for a moment as he saw his girlfriend be surrounded by her students. But there was also their consequence.

“However, Ketsubutsu Academy, you did lose against my class,” Aizawa ruined the moment.

All the students, including Emi tensed up and faced Aizawa.

“How about we make it once a month, Eraser,” Emi nervously laughed, trying to negotiate with him. “They did their best.”

“I think you should let me finish before negotiating, Joke,” Aizawa said as he put his hands in his pockets. “I was going to say, since 3-A allowed a class of first years to close the gap, I do not think they are worthy of training you all. So, no joint training every two weeks.” Aizawa grinned, causing both classes and even Emi, to stare at him in shock.

“WHAT! NO! I STILL HAVE TO KICK THAT WITCH’S ASS!” Bakugou shouted at Aizawa.

Aizawa activated his quirk and glared at Bakugou. “You allowed a first year to push your buttons and still did not manage to grab her bells. You don’t deserve to do anything.”

“Oop,” Mina snickered behind Bakugou.

“AGH! THIS IS BULLSHIT!” Bakugou shouted again.

“Chill, Bakubro! You’re gonna make it worse for us!” Kirishima shouted at him.

“Listen to Kirishima, Bakugou. I’ll make my punishment for you a team effort,” Aizawa told him, causing Bakugou to grumble. Aizawa’s hair fell as he blinked, deactivating his quirk. “Now, it’s lunch time. Class 3-A, represent our school properly and escort Ketsubutsu to the locker rooms, then to the lunchroom. Understood?”

“Yes, sir!” The whole class shouted.

“Good,” Aizawa nodded, then turned back to Emi’s class. “We have great food. Enjoy yourselves. And if Bakugou or Mineta tries anything, let me know.”

“Wait! Why am I included with Bakugou!?” Mineta cried out. “He’s menace!”

The whole class of 3-A deadpanned, “he’s one to talk.”

“You’re a menace too, you pervert!” Kurosaki shouted. “We were already warned about you on the bus.”

“What!” Mineta cried out. “I am not!”

Tsu slapped him with her tongue and Sero wrapped him up with his tape, then saluted Aizawa. “We got this, sensei! We’ll keep an eye on him!” Sero called out.

“Thank you, Sero,” Aizawa responded as he heard Mineta cry. “Now get going. Ketsubutsu needs to get back to their school soon.”

“Yes sir!” They all said again.

“Please follow us, Ketsubutsu Academy!” Iida told them, waving, “we will escort you all with the upmost pleasure!”

The Ketsubutsu looked at Iida, then looked at Emi, who smiled at them. “Go ahead, Kiddos! I’ll meet you guys at the front entrance after.”

“Yes, sensei!” they all said to her, then followed 3-A.

As they walked away, the teachers were left alone. Emi poked Aizawa, who looked down into her forest green eyes, “were you planning this all along? Or did my cries change your mind?”

“I just wanted to keep you on your toes. That was payback for trying to get me to go to a dreadful comedy show,” he told her. “But,” he sighed then, “I saw how well of a teacher you are, so I decided to let you take me to the comedy show.”

Emi’s eyes lit up like a Christmas tree and jumped into the air, “really! You mean it!?”

“Yes, I mean it,” he smirked, “I drag you to a cat café a lot, so see it as making it even.”

“But I love the cat café,” she smiled up at him, “Eri does, too.”

“I know. But for once, let’s do something you want to do, okay?”

Emi became excited and wrapped her arms around Aizawa’s neck, pulling him into a kiss. Aizawa couldn’t help but blush, since he knew they were still supposed to be teachers and a student could show up at any time. But luckily no student was there. Only Present Mic and All Might.

“Oi! Not on the clock!” Mic shouted as he walked towards them with All Might by his side.

Emi quickly let go of Aizawa then fixed herself, as did Aizawa. “Yamada, All Might, didn’t see you there,” she laughed nervously.

“I see you two made amends,” All Might laughed. “Good for you two.”

Aizawa rolled his eyes and Emi laughed at All Might’s comment. “Uh, yeah! We did,” Emi giggled, “we’re good!”

“I’m glad,” All Might smiled. “I was worried for a sec.” All Might walked towards Emi and put a hand on her shoulder, causing Emi to look up at the former number one pro-hero. “Aizawa-kun mentioned that you were feeling down about your teaching skills lately, but it seems like your kids are doing great. You’re a great teacher, Emi-chan.”

Emi’s eyes started to water, “Thank you so much, All Might.”

“No, thank you for teaching the youth,” All might grinned.

Emi teared up more, and Aizawa went over to her and put his arm on her shoulder, “thanks, All Might. It’s lunch time, so I gotta make sure Emi eats before she leaves.”

“Of course! Enjoy your lunch, you two!” All Might laughed.

They both thanked All Might, and Aizawa led Emi towards the school.

All Might smiled at the view of the couple, letting out a light laugh as he did. “Aizawa-kun looks happy.”

“He is,” Mic gave All Might a happier sigh, “I’m glad he finally opened his eyes.”

Ketsubutsu and class 3-A were in their uniforms at the front entrance of the school to say their farewells. The kids actually got along during lunch, so Aizawa and Emi knew they had to have another joint session soon.

“Alright, kiddos! Say thank you to Aizawa sensei and class 3-A for letting us train with them,” Emi told her class.

“Thank you, Aizawa sensei and class 3-A,” Ketsubutsu Academy thanked and bowed.

“Class 3-A! Let’s do the same!” Iida shouted at his class, who then thanked the class and Ms. Joke for coming.

“Next time will be tougher, so I should see more improvements next training session,” Aizawa told the students.

“Yes, sir!” the Ketsubutsu Academy students shouted.

Emi smiled as she watched her students say individual farewells to certain students and made their way on the bus.

She turned to Aizawa, grinning up at him, and put her hands behind her back, “thank you for joint training, Shouta. I think the kids feel better now that they got the chance see what your class can do.”

“Don’t mention it, Emi,” he smiled down at her.

“Now kiss!” Mina shouted from behind them, then laughed with Denki, Sero and Kirishima.

Aizawa turned his quirk on, immediately causing the group to stop laughing once they saw his glare. “Ashido, Kaminari, Sero, Kirishima, do you want extra lectures!”

“N-No sir!” they shouted back, now nervous.

Emi giggled as he turned his quirk off. “Aw, don’t be mean. They just want to tease you a bit before they graduate.”

“They shouldn’t tease me unless they know what’s good for them,” Aizawa groaned, causing Emi to giggle more. “I’ll come by with Eri after I pick her up from school. She’s been asking about you since she hasn’t seen you in over two weeks.”

“Great,” Emi perked up, “I’ll make dinner.” She poked his face, causing him to groan, but it made her smile. “I’ll see you later, Eraser.

“See you later, Joke.”

That Saturday Night.

“SEE! It wasn’t so bad, Shouta,” Emi said as she held her boyfriend’s hand as he walked her home.

“It was horrible,” he complained, “I never want to do that again.”

Emi laughed and moved closer to him, “what if it’s my birthday?”

Aizawa sucked his teeth in defeat, causing Emi to giggle, since she knew he could not tell her no on her birthday. “Please don’t make me.”

“No promises,” she winked up at him.

She put her head on his arm as they walked, and he couldn’t help but smile down at her as she did.

“Hey, Emi,” he spoke.

“Hm? What’s up, Shouta?” she asked, looking up at him.

“Well,” he started, “I got Hizashi to watch Emi for the night. Meaning I can stay the night.”

Emi’s eyes brightened, causing her to then pull her boyfriend’s arm. “Then why are we walking so slow! Speed it up, mister!”

Aizawa laughed softly at her comment, “pervert.”

“Shut up!” Emi blushed, “I don’t get to spend that much time with you to begin with!”

“Yeah, yeah,” he laughed again. “Let’s get going.”
