Work Text:
Once upon a time there was a boy and girl
They met in a park and they whirled and whirled
On a merry go round and then the boy said
“Want to get married in the garden shed”
Well the girl said yes
And off they went
off to make a wedding dress
They exchanged vows not in the shed but by the swings
The vows were real but not her ring
Their vows were real their love was not
And soon the girl simply forgot
The boy she met and all the fun
At her wedding
At her beautiful wedding under the sun.
The boy remembered but she did not
Then the years passed and the boy too forgot
Until he realised on his 25th year
That he unfortunately would have to adhere
To the laws which said that by spring
He must be married
He must be married if he wished to be king.
So far away he sent his letter
To a girl in a double knit sweater
She was a girl of twenty and five
When the far away letter finally arrived
She opened the letter using a knife
A letter that read
Hello dear wife
