Work Text:

“How’s my favourite baker?”

I looked up from behind the counter to see Luke walk in.

“Hey, where have you guys been, haven’t seen you in over two weeks.  Everything okay?”

“Yeah, just had to make a bit of a detour for the little one”

I looked around the shop, but I didn’t see my little one anywhere.

“Luke, where’s my kid?”

Luke chuckled at that, I had started calling him my kid after the second visit they came in, Grogu was special, and in some weird way we connected.  Despite the fact he didn’t speak basic, we still were able to understand each other, I could hear his voice inside my head and communicate with him that way.  Luke seemed to think I probably had some force sensitivity which allowed Grogu to communicate with me, I told him that he was crazy.

“He’s with his dad”

“He left?”

My face fell, how … how could he leave?  I never even got to say goodbye.

“No.  No.  No.”

Luke came behind the counter, something he was use to doing since they started to come here, not sure why I allowed him to do that, but it was nice he felt so at home here, he rested his hand on my shoulder.

“Sorry, didn’t meant to imply he left, no his father came to visit him, so he’s spending some time with him.  In fact, they are on their way here, I just came by earlier to get a table and put in our orders.”

The panic that had risen from not seeing my little kid, started to ease.

I smacked Luke on his arm, “Don’t do that again” I chuckled, “you really had me worried.  You know I love that kid like my own.”

“I know” Luke smirked.

“Alright, just grab a table and I’ll get your orders ready, do you know what the dad will eat?”

Luke started to move towards a table, he turned back to me, “You know, I’m not sure”

I nodded, I went to make Luke’s caf and bring him his pastry.  I took the seat in front of him, laying his order on the table, I rested my arms on the table crossing them in front of me.

“So tell me about the dad?”

“Okay, what do you want to know?”

“Well, okay, Grogu is such a tiny thing, so I can’t imagine his dad being super tall, so how tall is he?”

“Well his dad’s about 6’4”

“Oh” I was taken aback by that, “So Grogu will what, have a giant growth spurt?”

“No.  His species only grows … well the only other member of his species that I knew was only about 26 inches tall, so about 2 feet give or take”

“Wow such a tiny thing … wait so …” the numbers didn’t add up for me, if the tallest Luke had ever seen them was 2 feet, where did the 6 feet father come in, “… wait, who’s his father?”

“He’s a Mandalorian, that found him and looked after him until he could find a Jedi to train him.  He adopted Grogu into his clan.”

“Oh. OH. Oh, I see.  Well Grogu, must be happy he got to see his adoptive dad … clan dad … father … what does he call him?”

“Dad.  Father.  Shiny tall man.”

I laughed at that, “Yeah, that sounds like Grogu.  He’s such a cutie.”

“Yeah he is.  How’s the bakery doing?  Anymore trouble?”

“Not since that day, I think you scared those pirates away, I know I’ve thanked you like a million times already, but again” I reached forward and grabbed Luke’s gloved hand, “thank you.  It meant a lot that you came to help me.”

Luke held my hand, rubbing his thumb over my knuckle.

“You’re welcome, but you know Grogu was the one that sensed you were in trouble first.  He’s really attached to you.”  Luke let out a long sigh, and looked over his shoulder, “Which is something I’ve been meaning to talk to you about.”

“You want me to pull back, don’t you?”

“Maybe a little, it’s just…” Luke squeezed my hand, “You know, how I feel about you.  I think I’ve made that clear?”

My face heated a little, the times Grogu fell asleep, and it was just me and Luke talking till all the customers left, or when he would help me clean up.  The one time, he let himself get to close, we were putting away the cleaning supplies, when I nearly fell he grabbed me and brought me close to his chest.  It was as though all the air had stilled, our eyes locked, nothing else existed for that moment and then before I knew it, he was kissing me.  It had been everything I wanted, I had often wondered what it would be like to end up in his arms, just as I wrapped my arms around his neck, he had pulled back.  Letting me go, walking away from me,  apologizing saying it was wrong of him, how sorry he was, how he had overstepped.

“Yeah, and I know … you can’t have anything happen, because that would be forming an attachment which would distract you …”

“Exactly.  I think Grogu’s attachment to you, is distracting him.  There are times when I know he’s suppose to be mediating and instead he’s focused on you.”

I looked to the floor, I pulled my hand back, the tears were pricking my eyes, I cleared my throat, “Does Grogu know you are asking me to do this?”

“Yes”

“What did he say?”

Now it was Luke’s turn to look away.  He didn’t say anything.

“He doesn’t want me to, does he?”

“It’s for his own good”

“I may not be a Jedi, I may not even know much about the Jedi, but what I do know is that if Grogu needs me, I’m going to be there for him.  I’m sorry Luke, but I can’t walk away.  I’ve already lost one child, I’m not about to lose another one.”

I rose from my seat and walked to the kitchen, I didn’t wait for Luke to respond, truly there was nothing he could say.  I grabbed Grogu’s dough for him to play with, and his treat, it was a special type of treat specifically only for Grogu.

Mom?

I heard Grogu in my head, meant he was here.

I’m here, Grogu, I’ll be out in a minute.

Someone.  Want to meet.

Luke, told me, your father came to visit.

Yes.  Come. Now.

Be there soon, getting your treat.

Okay.  Take your time

I let out a laugh, only my kid would be that adorable.  I came out holding a tray.  I walked over to the table seeing Grogu, and sitting beside him was the Mandalorian, Luke had mentioned.

Mom!

I smiled at Grogu, sitting down the tray, as soon as my hands were free, his little hands came reaching up to me.

“Hey Grogu, missed you kid” I squeezed him against me, leaving a kiss on his forehead, which caused Grogu to let out a laugh.

I heard a soft snort coming from the Mandalorian.

“Welcome” I looked over to the Mandalorian, “to my bakery, I’m …”

“I know who you are” his modulated voice came through.  Well that’s not what I was expecting.

“You do?”

“Luke told me” Din couldn’t believe his eyes, it couldn’t be … it … it had been years since he had seen her.

You know him

I looked down to Grogu, having a quizzical look on my face.

“He’s talking to you, isn’t he?”

I looked over to the Mandalorian, “Yes, did Luke tell you?”

“Yes”

“Well before we get carried away, Grogu I’m putting you down okay”

No

You don’t want to?

No

Okay

“Never mind, he doesn’t want to go down.  Anyway, what can I get you?  It’s on the house, since your Grogu’s father?”

“Hey I’m his guardian why isn’t mine on the house?”

I turned to look at Luke, “You know, why”

Luke swallowed and looked away.

“I’m good, thank you.”

“If you are worried about your creed, I do have a curtain I could hang that would provide your coverage”

Din couldn’t believe it, she remembered his creed, would she remember him?  It had been nearly fifteen years since she’d seen him, since the day he left.  He promised to come back, but after everything he did, how could he go back to her?

“No, thank you.  I’m not worried about my creed, truly I’m fine.”

“Not even a caf, or something warm to drink, I have various teas…” I looked over my shoulder, “a Nubian herbal tea that is very good for alertness, a Coruscanti black tea, that eases away stress, I have a Sorgan tea that provides calmness, I could bring out my tea collection if you’d like to take a look” I turned towards the Mandalorian, “or if you’d like you could come behind the counter and look for yourself?”

“Truly, I’m fine” Din was wondering if she had recognized his voice, but then it had been fifteen years.

The more he talked, the more that voice started to sound familiar, but then most modulated voices had a sort of similar sound to them.  I nodded, to his declaration.

“Why not join us?” He offered, “I would like to get to know you a bit better, seeing as you are in my son’s life quite a bit”

I looked over to Luke, “Maybe you should tell him, what you asked me?”

“We really don’t …”

“No, I think we do” my annoyance at Luke was seeping through.

He asked

He did

What you say?

I said, No

I looked down to Grogu, who was smiling ear to ear, I kissed him again.

“What is she talking about?” The Mandalorian turned to look at Luke

Luke rubbed his face, “I suggested that it might be best she detach herself from Grogu, as his attachment to her is affecting his training.”

“How?” The mandalorian’s tone was laced with annoyance, I gathered, I didn’t know him so, maybe it was annoyance, maybe it was something else.

“I’m going to take Grogu into the back with me, while you two talk” I grabbed Grogu’s tray, and we headed to the kitchen, “Let me know if a customer walks in” I shouted to Luke as we walked away.

Okay, kid, I’m going to put you down, and you can start eating your treat.

Yes!

I chuckled at his little giggles, I put him in his seat, that he would usually sit in when he spent the day with me.  While he ate, I prepared some other pastries, for tomorrow’s customers.

Dad. Knows you.

What sweetie?

Dad.  Knows you.

No.  I think you’re mistaken.

Memories of you.  Has.

I stilled for a second, how was that possible?

You sure?

I looked over to Grogu who nodded, it couldn’t be … I walked to the door looking at the broad beskar back that was facing me.  It … the only Mandalorian I ever knew was a boy, named Din Djarin, but … he left me.  He promised he’d be back, but he never kept his promise.  No.  It couldn’t be him.  The universe isn’t that small.  I walked back over to what I was doing.

Finished

I looked over to Grogu, who ate the entirety of his frog pastry.

Good?

Yes.

I chuckled.

“Kid you are too funny, only you would think a frog pastry would taste good” I went to put the tray for tomorrow’s pastry in the oven, I placed it in the bottom tray.

“Excuse me?” The modulated voice scared me, I jerked my hand against the oven’s heat source, burning my hand.

“Ow! Son of …” I turned to look at Grogu, “Sorry, sweetie,” I moved over to the sink, putting my hand under cold water.

“I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to startle you” the Mandalorian came and stood beside me, he took my hand gently in his, bringing it to his visor, “it doesn’t look to bad … hold on…” he reached up and removed his helmet, placing it on the counter beside him.  I was speechless, the hair, the eyes, the man was gorgeous.  My heart caught in my throat.

“I’m … it’s okay, not the first time I got burned.”

“You need to be more careful, cyar’ika”

My heart stopped.  That voice.  I remember that voice.

Din felt her eyes boring into him, he knew as soon as he took off the helmet she would have recognized his voice.  All the times they spent together, as teenagers, all the times they laughed and played, all the kisses they shared.   She was his first love, she was his only love.  Every time he closed his eyes, it was still her eyes, he saw, it was still her smile he remembered.

I watched as he reached for some bacta gel he had in one of his pouches, it couldn’t be Din, it couldn’t be that nineteen year old boy who went on his first hunt and never came back.  It couldn’t be that boy who captured my heart, and no matter how hard I tried to move, no man matched up to him.  I could feel the tears begin to well up in my eyes, no it couldn’t be him.

“There cyar’ika, it’s all better” Din looked into her eyes, he saw the tears welling up there, he couldn’t help wanting to comfort her as he did the last time he left, his gloved hand reached up, cupping her cheek.  ‘She remembered me.  I saw it in her eyes, she remembered me.’  Din couldn’t help a smile appear on his lips, as he stepped closer.

“Din?” My voice came out a lot more shakier then I intended.

Din nodded, if he spoke now his own voice would betray what he was feeling, he leaned forward, his forehead resting against hers, he closed his eyes breathing her in.  “I’ve missed you, so much, cyar’ika.  I’m sorry…” his voice cracked at that; he never thought he’d be able to find her again.

I couldn’t believe it, it was Din.  My hand wrapped around his neck, my lips reached his, his hands found their purchase on my waist he drew me closer as he reciprocated the kiss, despite the length of time, it was as though no time had passed.  It wasn’t a passionate kiss, but it was a kiss that expressed everything we were feeling.

“What happened to you?” I finally asked, as I pulled back, looking into his eyes.

See.  Know him.

I looked over to Grogu, I winced a little, “Sorry, kid, didn’t mean for you to see that”

Din looked over his shoulder to Grogu, the kid had the biggest smile on his face.  He couldn’t help but chuckle at his ad’ika.  “I think someone’s happy we found each other.”

“He kept telling me I knew you”

“Ha, little matchmaker”

“What happened to you?  You were suppose to come back, why didn’t you come back?”

Din pulled back from her, he remembered his first hunt, he remembered everything that happened afterwards too.  He let out a shaky breath “Maybe we should talk in private.”

I looked at Din, his eyes were pleading, I nodded, “How long are you here for?”

“Two weeks, then I have to go back to Mandalore”

“Mandalore?”

“I’ll explain everything, but it’s best if we talk in private”

“Okay…”

Dad. Worried.

Why?

Afraid.  Won’t want him.

Why?

Past.  Bad things.  Done.

Okay.  Let him tell me.

Okay.

I cupped Din’s cheek, I couldn’t believe that teenage boy grew up to be so handsome, I reached up and kissed his cheek.  “I’m glad you found me”

“Me too, cyar’ika.  Me too”

I walked over to Grogu, “Okay, let’s rejoin Luke, before he starts to wonder what’s going on,” I looked over to Din, “You coming?” I held out my hand, he grabbed his helmet and gently held my burnt hand.

Din couldn’t believe he found her, he’d found his cyar’ika.   Din watched as the girl he knew, had grown into the most beautiful woman he could have ever imagined.  She was a pretty girl when they were kids, but she was downright gorgeous, holding his son, the way she doted on him, he couldn’t have imagined anyone who would have been loved by his son, just as much.

Luke looked from Grogu’s dad to his mom, a smile appearing on his lips.

“I can take Grogu with me, if you two need … sometime to talk”

I looked at Luke, he was smirking, “You sure?”

“Yeah, beautiful.”

He stood up and kissed my cheek, “I was right to let you go” he whispered, I looked at him, it hadn’t even hit me, that Luke would have sensed what I felt, or that Grogu probably told him, what happened.

“I’ll walk you out, Luke” he nodded, I looked over to Din, “Just have a seat, I’ll be right back”

Din nodded, he didn’t like the fact Luke had kissed her, but then he had no claim to make, not yet.  He had to wait to hear what exactly their relationship was from her.

I closed the door behind me, as Luke stood there holding Grogu, “I’m sorry, Luke.  I didn’t … I …” I looked to the floor.

“Hey, it’s okay” he reached up and cupped my cheek, “I already told you, I was right to let you go.  I wish things could have been different, but … I’m a Jedi, and my focus has to be on rebuilding and training new Jedis.”

I nodded, “I understand”

“He’s a good man, you deserve someone who can be there for you.  I think he could be it.”

“We’ll see, it’s been a long time for the boy I knew to become a completely different person.”

“Hmmm, maybe.  But the man I’ve gotten to know, is definitely a good man.”

“Thank you”

“Always, sweetheart” he smiled and began walking away.

Mom?

It’s okay, I need to talk to your dad.

Okay.

I’ll see you tomorrow.

Okay.

Love you.

Love you.

I took a deep breath and walked back in, it was past closing time anyway.  I was able to lock everything up, and took the seat in front of Din.

“So…”

Din couldn’t help smile, he could still see that sweet 17 year-old, he’d left behind sitting before him.

“You and Luke?”

I shook my head, “No, I mean we wanted to but … he said he couldn’t give me what I needed, his focus will always be on training new Jedis.  I understood.  We just remained good friends.”

Din nodded, at least that one was one question answered, “What about after …”

“After you left?”

“Yeah”

I let out a breath, “I’ll answer if you answer first”

Din swallowed, “No one serious, just flings”

“I see” I don’t know why but that … somehow didn’t sit well with me, is that why he never came back?  So he didn’t have to get serious? “I was married”

“Was?”

I nodded, I took in a deep breath, “I met my husband, about fours years after you left, he was a good man, simple man.  Farmer.  We were married about four years when he was killed.”

“I’m sorry, what happened?”

“Umm…” my hand began shaking thinking back to that night, “Raiders.  He had been on his way home, when they killed him.  I woke up to the sound of someone breaking into our home.”  Din reached forward and held my hand, “I fought off as many as I could, killed about six of them.”

“I’m sorry”

“We had just found out that week, I was six weeks pregnant.  The remaining four ran away, but the stress from fighting and some of the blows I received caused me to miscarry.   In one night, I lost my family.”

I wiped the tears that flowed down my cheeks, Din squeezed my hand.

“Cyar’ika, I’m so sorry.  I wish …” He held his head down, “I’m sorry I failed you, cyare.  I should have …”

“It’s not your fault Din.  Since Amori, I just … Luke was the first person since Amori that I let myself … anyway…”

“That’s why you’re so attached to Grogu”

I nodded, “When Luke asked me to walk away, I just … I couldn’t.  I know Grogu’s not mine, but I just couldn’t lose another child.”

“I understand”

Din reached forward and held both her hands, if he had gone back for her, if he hadn’t been a coward, afraid to make the commitment they had talked about for so long, that could have been his first child.  His life would have been so different.

“What happened, Din? Was it something I said?  Something I did?  Is that why you didn’t come back?” I murmured.

“Cyare, no.  It …” Din let out a deep sigh, “My first hunt didn’t go well, I failed.  When I did, I realized I wasn’t the man I needed to be for you.  I took on more and more dangerous hunts trying to make you proud, but I … I lost myself in the blood, in the killing, in the hunt.  I would have still been lost had it not been for Grogu.  When I started to look after him, memories of our time together, of our life before I left, our hopes and dreams, it all came flooding back.  Every night since I left you, the first face I would see when I closed my eyes was yours, but then I started seeing all the people I had killed, all the people I captured and handed in.  I wasn’t a good man, cyar’ika.”

Din let out a deep sigh, “I’m not a good man.  You would have been ashamed of the person I had become.  I couldn’t go back to you.”

“Now?”

“Now, I don’t know if you want to be with me.  I … during my travels with Grogu, I acquired the darksaber”

“Darksaber?”

“It’s a long story, but the one who holds the darksaber, becomes the ruler of Mandalore.”

“Wait …”did I just hear him correctly, “Are you saying you’re the ruler of Mandalore?”

“Yes”

“Wow” I didn’t know what to do with that, he was a ruler.

“Say the word, and I’ll give it all up.  I would rather live with you in a small hut, then be the ruler of Mandalore.”

“Din …” I pulled my hands away and stood from the chair, what was he expecting of me?

“What do you want from me?  I haven’t seen you in fifteen years.  I was married.  Lost a child.  Moved away from everything I knew and came here.  I started a business from the ground up.  Are you really saying you are still in love with me?  Even though you don’t know me.  Know nothing of what I’ve been through.”

Din stood and walked towards her, his hands resting on her shoulders turning her to face him, “Cyare, I never stopped loving you.  I feel this is my second chance.  I came looking for you, once.”

I looked into his eyes, there were tears welling up, “You did?”

Din nodded, “I saw you in the market square of your village, you were buying some fruit.  Those meilooruns you love so much.  You were wearing a yellow dress, with little blue and green flowers all over.  You hair was braided, the three strands on each side that kept your hair lose but out of your face, braided together in the back, like you usually did.  Just as I was about to walk over to you, a tall man, with light brown hair and darkened skin came over to you calling your name.  You gave him the biggest smile, I remember when you used to look at me that way.  Adoration filled your eyes.  He came up, wrapping his arms around you, and kissed you.  I walked away, cyar’ika.  I couldn’t be free like that.  I couldn’t ever make you that happy.  Not at that time.  Not when I was battling my own demons, demons I created with my own choices.  You deserved someone who could bring you nothing but joy.”

“Din …” the tears streamed down my face, his ungloved hands, held my cheeks wiping the tears with his thumbs, “… I would have left him for you.  I never stopped loving you.  Amori was a good man, but he wasn’t you.  He was never you.  No man could be.”

“I thought I was doing us both a favour, my love.  I thought I was doing right by you.  I know you might not want to be by my side now, not after so many years, and all the pain I caused you, I know.  But I can’t let you go, without knowing for sure.  I have to know, if I offered it, would you be willing to be my wife?”

I couldn’t breathe, he couldn’t mean it, he couldn’t.  “Din, what if you realize you don’t love me?  What if you realized you were holding on to a version of me from the past?”

“I could say the same thing, cyar’ika.  I know we have both changed, we’ve both had difficulties in our lives that have hardened us, made us into different people, but I know I love you.  I know I will always love you.”  Din couldn’t stop the tears that were streaming down his face, “tell me, cyare, tell me what I need to do to prove that I still love you, that no matter what, I will be here by your side.  I will never fail you, again.  Never again.”

“I … I don’t know, Din.  I …” I reached up to wipe the tears that were streaming down his face.  I pulled away.  “You said you’re here for two weeks?” I turned back to look at him.

“Yes”

I took my time to think about it, “Whenever you are not with Grogu, come and spend it with me, let’s sit and talk and get to know each other again.  The good, the bad, the ugly, all of it.  We don’t leave anything out.  Past loves, flings, all of it.  Then at the end of the two weeks, we can see if we truly do love each other, as we’d thought we did for all those years, or if it was a past idea we were holding on to.”

“Anything, cyar’ika.  I’ll do anything.” Din stepped forward he wanted to feel her lips on him again, however, as he stepped forward she stepped back.

“No physical affection”

Din stopped, “If that’s what you want, I will respect it.  No physical affection.”

“Thank you.  I’m sorry for kissing you before, that was …”

“Don’t apologize for that, I’ve wanted to do that, since I stepped foot in the bakery.”

“I have to finish cleaning up before I head home …”

“Let me help you” Din didn’t want her sending him away, not yet.  He wanted to spend as much time as he could with her, while he could.

I nodded.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

Two weeks went by quite quickly in that time, I learned a lot about Din, about the gang he joined, about Xi’an, about his time on Nevarro, about how he was hired to capture Grogu, and instead broke him out of the Empire’s stronghold, bout Cara Dune, Omera, Greef Karga, Kuiili, IG-11, Peli, about Bo-Katan, Boba, Fennec.  How he had to kill more men then he wanted to save Grogu.

Din spent every moment he could with her, every chance he could to get to know her, about how she learned to fight a year after he left from an old woman in the village.  Especially, after she was mugged coming home one night.  When Din heard what she had been through, he wanted to find every single person who dared to hurt her.  How she lost her own way three years after losing Amori and her baby seeking revenge from those who dared to hurt her.  She vowed never to seek revenge again.  How Grogu understood her pain.  How she finally found peace and solace, in his adorable face, how he filled the whole that had been created from her lost child.

Today was his last day on her planet, and he was going to ask her to leave with him again.  He was going to ask that she become his wife, learning everything he could in such a short time only enhanced his love for her.  He couldn’t wait to learn more, to learn every quirk she had.

“Cyare?”

Din called out as he walked into the bakery, it was quiet.  There were no customers which was odd, usually her bakery was filled with people.  Din’s hand rested on his blaster.  He headed towards the kitchen.

“Cyare?”

The kitchen was empty, he looked to the ground and saw a trail of blood.  Din felt his heart leap out of his chest.  He couldn’t lose her.  Not again.  He changed the settings on his HUD, and followed the trail of blood.   It lead to the back of the bakery.

Din opened the door quietly, when he saw her body on the ground.

“CYAR’IKA!” He ran towards her, she was alive, barely.

“CYARE, speak to me.  Please, don’t leave me!  Not when I just found you.”

Din heard a footstep coming from behind him, he grabbed the blaster holding her close to him.

“It’s okay, it’s me!” Luke held one hand up, while holding Grogu.  As soon as Grogu saw her, he started squirming, Luke put Grogu on the ground, as soon as his little fit touched dirt, Grogu ran over as fast as he could, Din watched as Grogu ran to her side.

“What happened?” Din seethed out

“I don’t know, I just got here”

“You’re suppose to be a Jedi.  You’re suppose to …”

“Din, I’m sorry, I don’t know”

She took in a deep breath, Din turned to look back at her, putting the blaster back in his holster.  Din reached his hand up to her face, caressing it, he looked over to Grogu, he was leaning against her, his hand resting on her torso, his eyes closed.  Grogu opened his eyes, smiling at Din’s visor, before falling asleep beside her.

“Din?” I gasped out

“Cyare, I thought … I thought I lost you” Din couldn’t hold back the tears, as his forehead rested against hers.  Din reached over and picked up Grogu, holding the two of them against his chest.

“I’m okay, Din.  Grogu saved me.”

Luke came closer to the family before him, “What happened, sweetheart?”

“They came back”

“Who?” Din’s anger was rising, he was going to find whoever hurt her and make them pay, make them bleed.

“A group of pirates, they came a few weeks ago, wanting to rob the place.  I was able to get rid of them” Luke answered for her.

“They heard about Grogu, about … about a bounty on him” I let out.

Din looked over to Luke, “What bounty?”

“This is the first I’m hearing about it, Din.”

“Moff … Moff Gideon escaped.  He’s looking for Grogu.”

Din seethed, his blood was boiling, first they attacked her, then they wanted to take Grogu back to Gideon.

“Will they be safe here?” Din looked to Luke

“I will do my best to keep them safe”

“Good.”

Din picked her up, his one arm cradling her back, while the other went underneath her legs, he stood holding her bridal style, while Grogu rested on her stomach, asleep.

Luke pulled three tables together, as Din laid her down on it.

“I’ll be back”

Luke didn’t bother to stop Din, he was going to handle this the way a Mandalorian would, and in the meantime Luke would protect Din’s family.

“Cyare, I’m going to be right back.  I promise.”  Din raised his helmet, leaving a kiss on her forehead.

“Din, please be careful.  I can’t lose you again.”

“You’ll never lose me again.  I love you.”

“I love you”

Din placed another kiss on her forehead, and headed out the back.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

I woke up to a ceiling, I didn’t recognize.

Mom!

I looked over to see Grogu standing by my head, I smiled at him.

Hey sweetheart, you saved me

I did

Thank you

His tiny hands, held my face as he laid his forehead on mine, it was the sweetest and tiniest keldabe kiss I had ever received.  I closed my eyes soaking in his sweetness, when I heard a modulated chuckle coming from further away.  I opened my eyes to see Din leaning against the door frame.

“What’s so funny?”

“Nothing, cyare.  Just never expected him to do that”

Din came over, and sat beside me, the bed dipping with his weight.  His helmet was on, probably trying to hide the worry in his eyes, he reached up and brushed my hair out of my face with his gloved hands.

“What happened?”

Din let out a shaky breath, “I almost lost you, that’s what happened.  Just when I got you back.”

“But you didn’t love” I reached up and rested my hand on his cheek.

“I’m gonna give Grogu to Luke for a second, there’s something we need to talk about”

I nodded.  I watched as Din picked up Grogu.

All good? Grogu asked

Don’t know, sweetie

I felt the bed dip again, I didn’t realize I had fallen asleep, I turned to see Din sitting beside me, his helmet off, I also noticed the door was closed.

“Sorry, didn’t mean to wake you”

“It’s okay, as long as you or Grogu are the one’s waking me, I don’t mind” I offered with a smile

Din nodded, I watched as he closed his eyes, his bottom lip began to tremble.

“Din?”

He leaned down, his head resting on my shoulder, his arms wrapping around me tight, as tears began to fall on to my tunic.  My hands began rubbing his back.  His sobs became louder and desperate, I sat up as best as I could holding him to me.

“Din, I’m okay.  It’s okay.”

He simply nodded against my shoulder. I placed a kiss on his temple, holding him close to me as I could.  He eventually pulled me on to his lap, his arms wrapping tighter around me.

“I thought … I love you.”

“I love you, too”

Din pulled back, his trembling lips found mine, he held me close to him as our kiss became desperate and passionate.

“Din” I pulled back, “wait …”

“Sorry”

“No, it’s okay.  I just think maybe the Jedi temple isn’t the best place to do this, you know.  If that’s where we are?”

“Ha, yeah you’re right.  Definitely not at the Jedi temple.”

I rested my forehead against his, “Where did you go?”

“I found them”

“Who?”

“The men who hurt you, I found them and I made them pay.  I had them tell me where Moff Gideon is”

I pulled back, “You found him?”

“I did”

“Wait … how long was I out for?”

“A week”

“Aren’t you suppose to be …”

“Mandalore can wait.  You and Grogu are my priority.”

My heart fluttered, “What happened with Gideon?”

“He won’t be bothering anyone anymore”

“Din, I’m so sorry.  I never …”

“Cyare it’s okay, I did it to protect our family.  I will always protect our family.”

I couldn’t help smile at that, “Our family?”

He nodded against my forehead, “If you’ll have me?”

I kissed his lips, “Yes, Din” I mumbled against him, he pulled me closer again, our kiss growing passionate again, however, this time Din pulled back.

“Cyare, I wanted to ask something”

“Okay”

“Those men, did they …”

“No.  They simply asked me questions, when I wouldn’t answer any they beat me.  They didn’t touch me.  I would have defended myself against them, but they caught me by surprise.”

Din let out a breath he hadn’t realized he was holding.

“If they had, would that have affected your …”

“No, cyare.  No.  I just wanted to know if I needed to kill them again, and how gentle I needed to be with you, love.  I don’t want to do something that would hurt you.”

“You could never hurt me, Din” I rested my head on his shoulder, “What’s going to happen with Grogu?”

“Grogu doesn’t want to stay, he told Luke after we found you.  He wants to be our son.  He doesn’t want to be a Jedi.”

“Is he sure?   If he doesn’t train, he’ll lose his abilities.”

“He’s sure.  I tried talking to him about it, told him that I wouldn’t be able to help him, told him he had to be absolutely sure, once he left he couldn’t go back.  He was adamant.  Told Luke, he never wanted to be away from us again.”

I moved my head to look at Din’s eyes, “I know I should be upset, but I can’t.  I love him, and the idea of having to leave him …”

“Me too.  I have an idea” he leaned over and kiss the tip of my ear lobe, “What if we got married now” his lips left little kisses all along my ear, down to my jaw.

“You sure?”

“Our family is here”

I closed my eyes as his lips began trailing down my neck, “What about Cara and Greef?”

“We can tell them later”

I pulled away and smacked his arm, “Din, they’re your friends, you can’t not invite them, especially after all you’ve been through with them”

“But that means, we’d have to wait, till they got here”

“How long would it take?”

“Two days”

“So then comm them now, we can wait two days”

“Maybe you can” Din smirked at his gia’jida (fiancé), he couldn’t believe after fifteen years, he was finally going to marry the love of his life.  He smirked at the expression she gave him, “Fine, I’ll go comm them now,” Din placed one more kiss on her lips, the lips that would be by his side for the rest of his life.  Those lips that held his whole future.

“Go” I mumbled against his lips.

Din sighed, “Fine,” he stood and headed out to comm Cara and Greef.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - -

Luke stood beside Cara who was holding Grogu, while Greef stood on her other side, Boba and Fennec stood beside Greef.

I couldn’t believe it when Cara and Greef came on the fastest ship they could find, they must have been burning all their fuel to get here, they made it in a day.  Cara told me afterwards that Din may or may not have threatened them to get here as fast as possible.  I shook my head when she told me, however knowing Din, that was probably true.

Din stood there holding his cyar’ika’s hands, he couldn’t wait to make his declaration for the whole universe to know.

“Cyare, when we were kids, we had always promised we would be together, that we would raise a family with some amazing kids.  I’m sorry it took me so long to fulfill my promise to you.   I have loved you since we were kids, but when you’re a kid, you never really understand what that means.  Being older now, I know what it means to love, to be loved, and the feelings I had when we were younger have only grown and intensified through the years.  I love you, ner runi (my soul).  You have always been my home, and now you’ll be my home forever.”

I wiped a tear, I looked over to see Greef wipe away tears as well, while Cara rolled her eyes at him.

“Din, I thought when you left, I would hate you.  I thought eventually the feeling I had in my heart would fade into hate.  Instead, it slowly grew stronger, and continued to build, I didn’t realize how much until you walked into my bakery.  When I saw you, I realized at that moment how much I truly loved you, how what I thought previously was love, was nothing compared to what I felt.  Getting to know you again, seeing the man you have grown into, my heart has only grown more in love with you.  Ner cyar'ika, yir ni cuyir, olyay jie. Gar cuyir an ni ganar vurel vercopa da, an ni ganar vurel cavu'a. (My darling, everything I am, is yours. You are all I have ever dreamed of, all I have ever wanted.)”

Din couldn’t wait, he grabbed her face and kissed her deeply.  He felt her laugh against his lips.

“I think we have vows to exchange” I mumbled against his mouth.

He pulled back smiling, “Oh, right”

“Cyar’ika, Mhi solus tome” (Sweetheart, we are one when together)

“Cyare, Mhi solus tome” (Beloved, we are one when together)

“Mhi solus dar'tome” (We are one when parted)

“Mhi solus dar'tome” (We are one when parted)

“Mhi me'dinui an” (We will share all)

“Mhi me'dinui an” (We will share all)

“Mhi ba'juri verde” (We will raise warriors)

“Mhi ba'juri verde” (We will raise warriors)

Everyone shouted and hollered as Din and I kissed as husband and wife, he bent down picking me up from my waist holding me close to him, as my arms wrapped around his shoulders tighter.

Mom and Dad!

I laughed against his lips.  Din let me down, “If you keep laughing every time I kiss you, I’m going to start developing a complex”

“I’m sorry, but Grogu just shouted Mom and Dad in my head.  He’s really happy.”

“Are you?”

“Beyond ecstatic”

“Good” Din leaned down and captured my lips again.

“How does it feel, Djarin?” Boba asked him, patting his back.

“Like I’m whole.  Riduur this is Boba Fett”

“I remember, it’s a pleasure to meet you Boba, thank you for looking out for my family”

“Pleasure’s all mine, cyar’ika” Boba left a kiss on the back of my hand, winking at me.

“Okay, all right” Din grabbed my hand out of Boba’s and pulled it back so it rested on his cuirass, “We’ve been married all of two minutes, you could wait to try and make a move on my wife”

Boba let out a chuckle, “Just keeping you on your toes.”

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

Three weeks had gone by since we exchanged vows, Grogu and I sat in the co-pilot seat of Din’s ship.  We said our goodbyes to Luke, told him if he ever needed anything to comm us, I sold my business to one of assistants, and before we knew it, we were on our way to Mandalore.

“Anything I should expect?”

“Just that there are a lot of meetings I have to attend”

“Is there a kitchen, I can use?”

Din turned to look at me, “Of course, there’s a kitchen.  Why wouldn’t there be a kitchen in our suite?”

“Well it’s not like I’ve ever been to Mandalore before, how am I suppose to know what your place has or doesn’t have, love.”

Din let out a chuckle, “Yes, there’s a kitchen.  Yes you can use it.  Mandalore is still recovering from the purge, so there are some areas that are suffering more than others.”

“Is that what your meetings are all about?”

Din nodded, “We’re trying to determine how to distribute the most amount of aid”

“What about asking some of the wealthier clans to distribute some of the wealth?”

Din turned his chair to look at me, “What do you mean?”

“Well, okay, I don’t know much about Mandalore, like I said, but do you need a big palace to live in?  What if you provide shelter for those in need at the palace, how many rooms are unoccupied, right now?  For that matter how many people need big houses on Mandalore, is it possible to provided free housing for those who aren’t able to afford it, just until they get on their feet again?”

“That …” Din rested his chin on his hand, “That might work, but there are issues with clans and tribes.  There’s some strong historical animosity among the tribes.”

“Oh.  Never mind, my idea is stupid.”

“No, not at all.  It’s just a matter of trying to figure out what will work”

“Is it one clan that’s suffering or are different individuals within the clan suffering?”

“It’s a bit of a mix, some clans are suffering together, because they have worked together and are sharing everything.  Other clans have issues within their clans.”

“Riduur, I do not envy your job”

Din chuckled, “Thanks.  I just wish I could do more.”

“What if I cooked and baked stuff and distributed to those in need? Would that be well received?”

Din couldn’t help smile at his riduur, he didn’t think it would have been possible to fall in love with her more, but she managed to surprise him again, “Yes, my love, I do believe it would.”

I looked over at Din, his eyes were practically dripping with adoration, “If I can help you in any way, riduur, let me know.”

“Really?” Din quirked an eyebrow, “In anyway?”

I didn’t miss his innuendo, Grogu was asleep on my lap, “Well I mean Grogu is asleep, and how much longer before we make it Mandalore”

Din looked over at the dash before him, “12 hours, I have plenty of ideas on how you can help in the next 12 hours”

“I bet” I smirked, “I’m gonna go put Grogu down, if you wanna I don’t know meet me in our room in like ten minutes?” I stood up walking out of the cockpit, when I felt his arms wrap around my back and legs.

“Let me help you put Grogu down, and then we can go to our room, and think of all the different ways you can help Mand’alor.”

“I don’t think what your thinking is going to help Mandalore”

“Not Mandalore the planet, Mand’alor, it’s king”

“Oh well then yes, that will probably work” I giggled as he kissed my temple as he carried me over to Grogu’s room.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - -

“Din” we were lying in the cot looking up to the ceiling.

“Hmmm”

I turned on my side to look at my riduur, he reached up tucking a strand of hair behind my ear, “Am I enough?”

“What? Of course you are.”

“As your queen, though?”

“Riduur, you are enough, because you are mine.  Everyone will love you, because you have one of the kindest and sweetest hearts.  You are a queen.”

“I’m just … I’m scared”

Din sat up from his prone position looking at his riduur, “Why are you scared?”

“I’m not good with politics, I’m not smart.  What if they hate me for being less than you deserve?”

“Cyare” Din pulled her into his arms, her back resting against his chest, as he wrapped his arms around her, “I don’t need you to be good in politics, I’m not good in politics, that’s why I have advisors.  Smart?  You are brilliant, you started your own company.  You ran a successful bakery, and less than I deserve?  No one would ever dare say that.  You are so much more than I could ever deserve.   You are everything to me, riduur, and anyone who says differently, deserves to have their tongue cut out.  You are ner runi (My soul).  You make me who I am.”

“Who’s that?” I asked leaning further into his chest, wrapping my arms around his.

“I am a man who is so in love, I can’t imagine why everyone in the universe isn’t striving to be this in love.  I am a King, because you are my Queen.  I am a husband and a father, because you have allowed me that privilege.  I am a man who is proud to be called yours, because you wouldn’t call anyone who was less worthy, yours.  I have found my way, because of you, riduur,  you are my path, my guiding star.”

“Did you take a poetry class or something?”

Din chuckled, kissing her temple, “No, cyar’ika, it’s just you.”

“Flatterer”

“Do you feel better?”

“Yes”

“Then I did my job”

I laughed at that, “Oh so you didn’t mean all those things” Din moved his hand to her side tickling her.

I tried moving away from him, “No, Din” I laughed, “Stop” I managed to turn around and pin his hands above his head, “I’m kidding” I laughed, next thing I knew he flipped us over.

“I love your laugh, I always have”

“Then I’ll try and laugh at least once a day for you.  As long as you promise to smile as often as possible, I love your smile”

“I can do that” Din leaned down capturing his cyare’s mouth once again.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - -

One Year Later …

“Mistress?”

“Yes, Agat?”

“You have a meeting with the people of Sector VI”

“Tell them I’ll be there as soon as possible”

“Yes, mi’lady”

Meeting?

I turned to look at Grogu, “Yes, Sweetie, sorry.  You going to be okay?”

“Elek”

“Good job, Grogu” I kissed his forehead, I stood from my seat, picking up Grogu, when I became light headed.

“Buir?”

“I’m okay, just probably stood too fast.  Now do gar (you) wanna come with ni (me), or stay in your room?”

“Gar” (You)

“Okay”

- - - - - - - - - - - - -

“Cyar’ika?”

“In here” I shouted to Din from the kitchen in our wing of the Palace.

“How did your meeting go?”

Din came in and kissed his riduur on the head, picking up Grogu kissing him on his forehead.

“Okay, they’re not happy though” I continued preparing our and Grogu’s dinner, while I told Din about the difficulties Sector VI had been having, the lack of water due to the administrator in that Sector.

“I’ve heard rumours about that administrator.  I have an investigation underway.”

“I hope they find something, that man is vile.  I personally have met with him a handful of times, and each time I feel I need a shower shortly after.”

“Does he make you feel uncomfortable?” Din’s arm wrapped around her waist, offering what protection he could, “If he does, I can deal with him for you cyare.”

I turned to look at him, offering a smile and laughed, “No, my love, a snivelling weasel like him, I can handle.  When it comes to bounty hunters or assassins those are all yours” I leaned up and kissed him, “get washed up, dinner is almost ready.”

“Yes, Manda’lor”

“Ha ha you are so funny”

“I am” Din kissed her cheek one more time, “Right kid, you think I’m funny”

“Elek”

Din stopped, and turned by to his riduur, “Did he just …”

“Oh, didn’t I mention?” I smirked at him, laughing, “he now knows how to say three words in Mando’a.  Yes, parent, and you.”

Din held Grogu up higher, laughing, “My son is brilliant!”

I laughed watching the two of them, “No more spinning, or he’ll throw up, remember last time.”

“He won’t throw…” just then Grogu vomited all over Din’s face, I couldn’t help but laugh, I walked over, laughing.

“Don’t move” I chuckled, wiping away the vomit from his face, “Okay, there you can open your eyes.”

“Okay, no more spinning”

“Told you”

“Yes, Mand’alor”

I leaned up and kissed his non-vomit covered cheek, “Be glad I love you, as much as I do.”

Din carried Grogu into the refresher, “Your mom is amazing, you know that, she spends all her time not only helping and caring for us, but she helps those who need support.  Our people love her.” Din couldn’t help telling his son, about all the amazing things his riduur was doing, “Because of her efforts, there is less poverty.  Almost 75% of those who were previously living in poverty, now have shelter, necessities, and earning a living.  15% are learning a new skill to help their area.”

Din turned off the water, now that he and Grogu were both clean, “All clean.  Looking good, kid”

*THUD*

“Cyar’ika?”

Din picked up Grogu and walked back to the kitchen, his riduur lay on the ground, “Cyar’ika?”

“Hmmm”

“Riduur, what happened?” Din kneeled beside her, Grogu came to her side resting his hand on her stomach.

“I don’t know, just felt lightheaded all of the sudden” I tried to stand up, but Din’s hand made me rest against the floor.

“Don’t move, let me call a medical droid”

“Okay, I’m not going to fight you, the floor feels nice”

Din raised his comm, “Paz, I need a medical droid, immediately”

“Mand’alor, it’s on it’s way, what happened?”

“I don’t know, my riduur passed out”

“Would you like me to call anyone else?”

“No, just keep the comm open in case, something happens”

“Yes, Mand’alor”

“Din, I’m fine”

“Riduur, I love you, but you’re not fine.  Fine people don’t pass out.”

“Okay, what about really in love people?”

“Nope”

“Really happy people?”

“No”

“What is Grogu doing?”

Din looked down to Grogu, he was resting his forehead against his riduur’s stomach, “I … I don’t know, what does it feel like he’s doing?”

“Like a bundle of energy flowing, all over”

“Similar to when he healed you?”

“No, sort of like when he talks to me, but … I don’t know, I keep calling him, and he won’t listen to me”

“Grogu” Din called, Grogu didn’t move.

“Grogu?” Still no reaction

Din reached over and tapped his shoulder, “Grogu,” finally Grogu looked up at Din, a smile on his face.

“Not sure what he’s doing, but he’s happy?”

“As long as he’s happy” I muttered lying my head back down.

“You know cyar’ika, if you wanted attention, you could have just said so”

“Sweetie, I say this with all possible love, if you gave me any more attention, I wouldn’t be able to walk for a week”

“Is that a challenge?” Din chuckled

“Definitely not”

A beep came from the door to their wing, “Hold that thought,” Din got up and walked over to the door, the droid and Paz waited to enter.  Din motioned for the droid to come in, indicating where to go.

“What do you think happened?”

“I’m not sure, I know there are times when she has back-to-back meetings that she won’t eat, but today was a light day, so …”

“Want me to stay with you, till you find out?”

“Thanks, Paz, come in”

I watched as Din came with Paz, into the kitchen.

“Paz, welcome to our lovely home.  I hope you don’t mind, I’m just resting here, you know the floor is quite lovely.”

“I’ll take your word for it”

Din just chuckled at his riduur.

“Cyare, are you laughing at me?”

“Yes, yes I am”

“Hey, I gave you an out, before you married me”

“When?  I don’t remember that fine print.”

“When you first came to the bakery, I told you after two weeks, we could just walk away, you decided not to, now you’re stuck with me”

Din came and kneeled beside me, once the droid was finished and moved to the side to analyze it’s data, “Well I guess, if I had to be stuck with someone, I’m glad it’s someone who I’m crazy head over heels in love with”

I smiled at Din, “Me too”

“You are free to move” The droid’s voice cut in.

Din held one of my hands while Paz, grabbed my other as they helped me up, Grogu stood by feet.  Paz however reached down and picked up Grogu, holding on to his nephew.  Grogu started babbling at Paz, explaining all that happened.

“Really?” Paz responded pretending to understand, “I know, their lovey-doveiness really makes me sick too, maybe that’s why she passed out.  Couldn’t find a nicer way of telling him to shut up.”

Grogu laughed, I narrowed my eyes at the both of them.

“Paz, first of all your just jealous, and Grogu be grateful you have a father who is as sweet and kind as he is; excellent role model for you.”

Grogu stuck out his tongue, Paz’s laughter filled our kitchen, while Din had me resting against him, his arms around my waist.

“I have analyzed the data” the droid cut in.

“What did you find?” Din asked

“Blood sugar dropped from insufficient nutrition”

“Riduur, you promised you would take it slow today”

“Din, I did, honest.  I even ate a good lunch.  Salad, fruit, what more could I eat?”

“As a pregnant woman you need to be eating more, to support both you and the fetus” The droid stated, all of us turned to look at the droid.

“Excuse me, as a what?” I stated

“Pregnant woman.  You are 8 weeks pregnant.”

The air stilled, no one said anything for a good ten minutes.

“My work is done.  Good bye”  The droid headed for the door and left.

“I’m sorry, I didn’t hear that right” I turned looking at Din, “Right?  I mean, did it just say …”

“Cyar’ika, you’re pregnant” Din’s smile grew, tears pricked his eyes.

“I’m pregnant” I reiterated

“You’re pregnant” Paz reaffirmed

I threw my arms around Din, laughing and crying.  He wrapped his arms around my body, laughing, lifting me up.  He began to spin.

“Uh vod, I don’t think that’s a good idea.  She did just pass out”

“Oh right” Din put me back down, he grabbed my face and pulled it towards his lips.  He placed a gentle kiss on my forehead, before tilting my head to place a kiss on my lips.

Paz groaned, covering Grogu’s eyes and turning to look away.

“I love you, riduur.  I didn’t think I could love you anymore than I do, but I do.  I can’t believe …”

“I know, Din.  I love you too” I wrapped my arms around his torso pulling him into a hug.

“We’re going to have a baby!” I giggled

“Congratulations you too, I’m still on duty, so here’s your son.  Grogu, I’ll see you tomorrow.  Vod, I’ll see you tomorrow too.  Vod’ika, congratulations, if you need anything let me know.”

“Thank you, Paz” I offered, reaching for Grogu.

“Thank you, vod” Din clasped Paz’s forearm.

“You’re welcome.  Tomorrow”

“Tomorrow”

I watched as Paz left our suite, I looked up to Din, pressing Grogu into my shoulder, I leaned up and kissed him one more time.

“Riduur, I think you need to eat, have a seat and I’ll serve you dinner”

“Din, I can serve dinner”

“You passed out, you’ve had enough excitement for today.  Please.”

I saw those same pleading eyes, when I woke up after the attack on the planet, I nodded, I knew not to push.

After dinner, we put Grogu to bed, shortly after we found ourselves lying in our bed too, Din lay beside me rubbing my womb.  Din hadn’t said much during dinner or after, he just kept one hand on me at all times.

“Din?”

“Yes, cyar’ika?”

“You’ve been quiet since dinner, you okay?”

His head was lying on my chest, my arms were wrapped around his back, pulling him closer.

“I’m just …” Din let out a shuddering breath.

“Cyare, what is it?  You know you can tell me anything.”

“I’m scared”

I tried to look down at him from my position, “scared?  Why?”

“What if they hate me?  Because of everything I’ve done.  What if I’m not strong enough to protect you?  To protect all three of you?  What if someone kills me, when they challenge me for the darksaber?  What if …”

“Din, my love” I pushed him to lie on his back as I hovered over him, I reached up caressing his face, wiping the tears that were escaping, “there’s a lot that can happen in this life, tomorrow is a mystery, yesterday is history, today is a gift that’s why it’s called the present”

Din chuckled.

“I know, I read it somewhere, but it’s true.  We don’t know what’s going to happen tomorrow, what I do know is, your kids are going to love you.  You know why?”

“No”

“Because you are a good man, Din Djarin” I smirked at him, “Despite your best efforts, you are still a good man”

He smiled at that.

“Grogu loves you, and he’s seen you do your best to defend him and yourself.  He’s seen you kill men.  Not that that’s great, but regardless, he’s not scared of you, he’s not afraid.  He loves you.  Our kids, are going to love you just as much as Grogu does.”

“You think so?”

“I do” I leaned down and kissed him, “and not being strong enough?  Sweetie, you are the strongest man ever, not only are you incredibly brilliant, you are constantly bettering yourself.  I see you when you train, it’s one of my favourite hobbies, to watch you train with all your different weapons, even when I see you sparring with Paz.”

“You just like me without my shirt on”

“Yes, I have a gorgeous husband, can you blame me.  But I have also seen you in action, remember when we went to Concord Dawn to visit the settlements there to assess who needed help.”

“Yeah, I hated that trip”

“Why?”

“Those men, were trying to make you uncomfortable, the things they said …”

“What did you do?”

“I made sure they learned never to disrespect my wife again, their Queen”

“Exactly, I knew you would protect me, all that time I never felt scared because you were there with me.  Grogu and I both know, you would do everything you could to protect us.  You almost died protecting Grogu.  I hope it never comes that close again, but I know you would do all you could to protect all three of us.”

I leaned down again to kiss him.

“Finally, if someone challenges you for the sword, Din promise me, if you think you’re going to lose the fight, please yield.  I would rather have you yield, then lose your life.  I know…” I looked away, as his hand came up and rested on my cheek, I looked back at him, “I know that’s not the Mandalorian way, but please for my sake, yield.”

“For you cyar’ika, I’d walk away right now”

“And that right there is why I know you would always be there for us, you always put us first.  I love you, Din.  Grogu loves you, and our new baby and any other kids we have will love you just as much.  My love your clan is growing, and the one thing we all have in common, is we all love you to the ends of the universe.”

“I love, riduur.  You always know what to say.”

“For you riduur, I will always find the right words to help you.”

Din gently rolled us, until he hovered over me, leaning down to kiss my lips, my arms wrapped around his back bringing him closer.  He leaned his forehead against mine.

“I hope we have a girl exactly like you”

“And I hope we have a boy exactly like you, my love.”

“Maybe we’ll have twins or triplets”

“If you’re the one pushing them out, sure why not”

Din chuckled, kissing his riduur, at that moment, he never knew how his life became so wonderful and full of love.  All he knew was everything he could have ever wanted was right there with him on Mandalore, in his arms and he would never let it go.  No matter what.
