Work Text:
It has been few days after her first encounter with the twin, as ever since that day; she has been exhausted trying to find a place to rest. It was never easy to find a place as some are unstable, and some have animals' marks on them which she needs to be extra careful when she is in the forest - It's Reverse Falls, after all.
It takes a long time for her to find a safe cave, and extra plus if heading deeper then she would found a large lake, now she doesn't have to worry about fetching fresh water every morning. Though it's a bit far away from the main path, it's better than nothing - Iustitia hums as she places her bag on the ground and rolls her sleeves.
"I guess I should do a bit of cleaning."
Iustitia murmurs as she starts the first process of making this cave a temporary place.
It didn't take long for her to finish clearing the whole cave before the young girl headed out to wait for it to dry. A gentle wind blew through her cheeks as she let out a small quiet laugh, thinking maybe this place isn't that bad after all.
.
..
...
And those were her famous words three days ago.
If anyone gives her a choice to choose one thing that mirrors herself right now, she chooses the fool card because she is one right now, thinking that Reverse Falls isn't that bad.
It's worse but not as bad as some certain places she has visited.
After few days of researching the town in the dark, she can see why Bill sends her over this world now. With her personality, he thinks she wouldn't survive this place for few weeks and maybe strike a deal with him once she wouldn't stand this place anymore.
With her current financial problems, she doesn't have to worry about almost anything - head back to the original dimension, and talking with the twin is the problem she has a headache right now.
Speaking of the twin, how are they doing right now? She silently hopes that they didn't make any deals with that shameless demon as anyone making a deal with him would always suffer from unpleasant fortune or maybe even worse. Just the thought of the twin getting hurt by making a deal with the triangle demon has made her heart squeeze tight as she only wishes for them to be safe and sound.
Yet now here she is, stuck without having any communication way to the kids.
"Fucking useless."
Iustitia curses out loud as she punches the tree trunk nearby with all her strength. Once letting out all the steam, Iustitia finally looks back at the outcome of her anger as the once thick and solid tree trunk has turned into a jumbled mess after being punched. As for her knuckles, it has become swollen red for using all her strength. However, she only gives it a few rubs to lessen the stinging pain before finishing her morning walk and getting ready for the town again.
"So you are currently stuck at the dimension inside another dimension. You deserve it, to be honest, for ruining my wife and my beauty's sleep. " The black-eyed man lets loud yawn, looking rather irritating for ruining his sleep before flops back to the bed with his wife.
"Please, can you ask the elders if they know any similar situation like mine, and is there a way to get back to the usual dimension?"
Iustitia answers back with a nervous smile on her face. Though she has spent a lot of time with the married couple, the young girl still gets nervous around them. The man looks at her like she spills out something stupid, finally sitting up and covers his naked body with the plush before rubbing his temple for a while, then glares at her through the phone.
" Fine, I'll help you, but in return, you have to help me with my paper works." He pointed at her through the phone, still glaring at the young girl, which she only lets out a sigh in defeat before accepting his deal.
Eventually, the waiter has brought food to her table before guaranteeing that would help him with the works and ending the call. Everything would be fine if the waiter would place her food down, and she would spend the time to enjoy the delicious dish in peace - of course, it's not Gravity Falls she knows and loves anymore. Before she can thank him, a loud clatter has alarms everyone in the dinner as the waiter doesn't care about it and brutally places it down on the table along with her steaming cup of coffee before storming away, leaving all piercing gazes on her.
Soos observes from afar, knowing that this plan would work and the twins would stop throwing a tantrum because of a simple and usual newcomer. All he needs to do is wait for her to go to the restroom as while she does that, he would have all the time to learn her information and send it back to the twins. Once she finally leaves the spot, Soos takes the mop and pretends to mop around while slowly heading to where the table she sits. When no one is paying attention to him, he checks everything in her bag, anything that involves her information. Yet nothing in her bag holds any pieces of information, and his attention soon turns over her phone left on the table. Surprisingly, it doesn't have any password or lock as Soos swiped through her social network - yet there was barely any valuable information about her.
Before he could check anything else, loud piercing screams coming from the girl restroom has startled everyone in it, even Soos as well. Soon chaos has surrounded the whole diner as some people have rushed in and checked what happened. While out of thinking, Soos has taken this opportunity to steal the phone before fleeing from the scenes, and all he can think was today was his lucky day.
"Tell me if it's hurt."
Iustitia bites back a winces as the young girl sits beside her, gentle damping the alcohol cotton on her forehead. After finishing cleaning the blood, she takes a colorful bandage and places it on her injures. The young girl takes a final check if there're other places that she gets hurt until Iustitia has to tell her that she is okay, doesn't have to worry for her before apologizing to her parents for disturbing their family times. Yet, their reaction was nothing the young girl expected - they both laugh it off and tell her that is fine. What makes them freak out is when they hear their daughter's scream and more terrific when she is carrying someone unconscious and bleeding, as Iustitia believes that her father would single-hand hurt whoever hurt his daughter.
"So can we have the knight in the shining armor's name? Are you new around here?"
Her father asks, very cautious about her mysterious identity, which she can understand why.
"Forgive me. My name is Iustitia Halley. And yes, I'm quite new to this town. My friends suggest me this place as a place to relax, so here I am."
Iutitia answers with a smile, yet inside she was panicking. Her palms start to sweat whenever getting nervous or anxious to meet someone new, but her face remains calm as she answers every question with a smile. Once she has passed his test, he cheerfully introduces their family as Iustitia greets them with a small smile, and with that, everything turns back to normal. They were enjoying a usual meal while the young girl took her time to appreciate her new and steamy cup of coffee happily before the waitress questions if any girls with their names starting with the letter I, please come up and take the phone. Iustitia grips tight on her cup as she takes another sip of coffee before getting up and heading to the phone booth, taking a deep breath to calm herself down and pick up the phone.
"Who is this?"
"My, my. Have you forgotten about us?" On the other end of the line, it was the sweetest voice that was enough to make any man fall into their knee for her. Lucky that she isn't a man.
"If you keep interrupting my coffee time, no," Iustitia grumbles as she wants to go back to her spot and spend some time with her coffee in peace.
"Don't you want your phone back then?" Her tones quickly change as in the background she can faintly hear someone yelp. Iustitia's hand curls up into a fist as she tries to act surprised to push down the burning rage inside her.
"So that's where my phone goes! But -" Before she can give them the pleasure of getting a step of her, she adds. "Why do you need my burner phone? It barely has anything in it."
Seem like her words have set the other person's anger first as there's a long silence on the other side of the line, then another voice appears, deeper yet filled with burning rage.
"You seem to know everything, I."
"I guess I'm speaking with the one who puts wolf's bane in my coffee? I must admit I'm impressed, though if your people didn't look at me every five seconds, I might drink it." Iustitia sneers as she leans into the phone booth.
"Seem like normal poison can't kill a pest. Should I make a stronger one then?" The other person growl thought his threat didn't make her feel scared. Waiting for him to finish his speech of what he would do to her once he caught her, Iustitia let out a loud exhalation as she had spent fifteen minutes listening to him about what to do to her once he got her, and now her coffee has gone cold once again.
"Listen, kid. If you want something badly, use your words wouldn't get it. You're smart, so you would understand what I am going to say next." Iustitia's tired tone soon changes into a dangerous one as she grips on the side of the phone booth, snarl back.
"If you want my information and answer to your dream, come and get it yourself. In other words, don't throw some empty threat and barks, thinking that I would cower in fear and give what you want so easily. Instead of doing that, come and fucking bite me in the neck. Is that fucking clear to you?"
Before he can answer her back, Iustitia has ended the call with another sigh before heading back to where she is sitting and apologizing to the Southeast's family for taking so long.
"I can see why you need a break."
Mr.Southeast jokes as Iustitia only lets a tired smile and agrees to his words.
