A Bad Choice

Summary:

You learn Hisoka died after his fight with Chrollo. You're happy he's gone, or at least you're supposed to be. He was not a good man and he had a dangerous interest in you. He would had been a bad choice.
It shouldn't matter thought, the magician is dead... or is he?

Notes:

This is not my usual fandom, this isn't even my usual haunt on Fanfiction.Net. By I have been obsessed with these Adult Trio/Reader stories recently. So here I am. Keep in mind, this is not my circus, not my monkeys, nor my clown. Enjoy!

Work Text:

A Bad Choice
“The dangerous fight took several casualties,” the anchormen said on the TV, Heaven’s Arena was behind him the very top was smoking, “Many bystanders were killed, along with the fighter, Hisoka M-…” You shut off the TV before they finished saying his name.
You walked through your beautiful apartment to take a bath. When you first saw this apartment a month ago, you were in awe, it was beautiful. You loved bathing in the large bath.
At least you used to. For the past few days, you felt dead… nothing… Not since you heard Hisoka died. When you first saw the news feed. It shocked you, more than you thought. It actually made you cry. Why?
Wasn’t this a good thing? Hisoka was one of the three men that were after you. Three dangerous and powerful men, and through no fault of your own, you somehow caught their attention.
Chrollo wanted to steal you.
Illum wanted to marry you.
Hisoka wanted to… honestly you didn’t know, but you convinced yourself you didn’t want to know.
You were a strong, powerful, beautiful woman. At least that’s what everyone who loves you said.
A specialist, with many abilities at your disposal. Not like Chrollo, every power you had was yours fair and square.
It wasn’t your wish to be powerful. You just wanted to see the world, to be free to go wherever you wanted, that’s why you became a Hunter. It’s why you took the exam with Gon and the others.
But somehow during your adventures with your friends, you caught the eyes of those three dangerous men.
However, you weren’t afraid anymore. You weren’t the same scared girl who hesitantly took the exam. You went through a lot of things, the exam, the Zoldyck’s, the auction, Greed Island, and most recently the Chimera Ants.
Gon finally met his Dad, Killua was on the run with his sister Alluka, Leorio was studying to become a doctor, Kurapika was looking for the eyes of his people, and you… You didn’t know what it was you wanted.
You spent the past few months setting up, residences. Places you could rest while you traveled. Being a Hunter, you were rich enough to do that now. You wanted to use this time to finally think about you wanted. For so long, you just wanted to travel with the boys, now they were off on their own.
There were talks about an expedition. Constructions for a giant ship, called the Black Whale was underway. The Hunter Association was going to be part of the plan to explore the Dark Continent. Was that it? Was that your next big grand adventure? On one hand, no one has ever sailed beyond to that mysterious land and returned… alive. On the other, you have done the impossible before; you were part of the Chimera Ant extermination team. You could convince them to let you join. You could see what was out there beyond all that you knew, and you could get away from The Phantom Troupe, Illumi, and Hiso…
“Get it together,” you tell yourself as you put on a robe for bed, “He was dangerous, unpredictable. He probably would have killed you when he finally got bored,” you remind yourself as you walk out to the balcony.
You didn’t have the penthouse; you didn’t want that much space. But you were still high up and the view of York New was beautiful. You were hoping the fresh night air would clear your head.
This should had been a good thing. This was part of the plan, Chrollo, Illumi, Hisoka fight and kill each other. Then you kill the last one standing while he was still injured, finally free to live, without having to run, hide, or look over your shoulder for your deadly stalkers.
That’s how it was supposed to be at least. You didn’t want to admit it, but Hisoka, may have… left an impression on you. He certainly scared you when you first met. You wanted nothing more than to run away the first few times you saw him. You didn’t, you stood your ground, and glared, knowing he could kill you.
He would just grin and say, he loved the look in your eyes.
At Heaven’s Arena, he managed to trick you into going on a date with him, which was… actually nice. But still you were weary.
When you went to York New, you ran into Chrollo for the first time. You infiltrated the Underground Auction to find Kurapika. You didn’t know at the time he was the leader of the Phantom Troupe. You found out through a fortune Neon wrote you. Of course, you tried to avoid him, but you ran into him again that night. You don’t know what it was, but you somehow caught his attention that night. And as a memento, he stole your prized possession. The golden cross necklace that belonged to your father and you always wore.
When Kurapika used his chain on him, you thought you’d never see it again. Imagine your surprise when a few days later, you received an envelope with your Dad’s cross. And a note from Hisoka.
He’s only doing this for himself. He’ll only hurt me in the end. He feels nothing for me, he just wants to be entertained. You told yourself that over and over again. Trying to stay safe.
But Hisoka kept coming back. Like a wrecking ball, tearing down your walls just to annoy you. Being dangerous, yet somehow charming… It also didn’t help that he was possibly the sexiest man you’ve ever seen (That awkward reunion on Greed Island more than proved that).
You went through several things after Greed Island, you witnessed the Chimera Ants. That was taxing physically and emotionally. You witnessed horrible gruesome monsters kill people, but you also saw some of them regain their humanity.
You even witnessed the King of the Ants, show humility just to spend his last night with a blind human woman. Knowing that, left a horrible feeling of regret. You would forever be left with the question, ‘Did I do the right thing?’ Because of that. Of course, the Chairman died, but you didn’t take part in the election. You were too busy, trying to heal Gon.
He made a contract with conditions, and you were trying to use your power to save him, but the best you could do was keep him stable. You collapsed from exhaustion several times from overusing your Nen ability, but you didn’t care.
Finally, it was Killua and Alluka who saved Gon.
Now… they were off following their goals. And Hisoka was dead.
You leaned onto the banister, the hole in your chest was wide and hollow. Hisoka was dead, he got his fight with Chrollo, and he lost.
“Are you happy?” You ask, “You finally fought Chrollo. You knew there was a chance he’d kill you. You knew he was a tactician; he wasn’t just strong he’s smart,” your voice trembled as you continued, “Was it everything you wanted? Everything you expected? You sick, crazy, clown?” You squeeze the rail so hard your knuckles turn white, “And now you’re finally dead…” Tears finally drop down your face, “I should be happy. I’m supposed to be happy. Now I only have to deal with Chrollo and Illumi left, but I’m not… I actually miss you… I actually wanted you to win… I wanted…” You trailed off and took in a deep breath, “I don’t know what you wanted from me. To fight me, kill me? I shouldn’t want to be around someone like you, but I do,” you wipe the tears from your face, finally admitting it, “I fell in love with you, you sick freak. I hope you’re happy, Hisoka.”
“I’m ecstatic, Darling~.”
You spun around when you heard his voice. It couldn’t be! But it was. Leaning against the doorway of your balcony was Hisoka!
“Wh-what, how…” You looked him over, “Am I going crazy? They said you died!”
“Hm~,” Hisoka pushed off the door and walked towards you, “I did, but death was boring, so I came back.”
Scarily enough you believed him
“Okay, but how did you…” You trailed off, “Never mind, of course you’re capable of breaking into my apartment, stupid question.”
“Indeed.”
“I’ll ask this then,” you said, “What are you doing here Hisoka?”
He stopped about a foot in front of you, his hand reached up and trailed down your chin to your cheek, “I’m afraid Chrollo, hurt me more than I’d like. If you would Darling, can you please kiss it and make it better?”
He wanted you to heal him? He didn’t look injured. Until you used Gyo.
“Oh my God,” some of Hisoka’s body wasn’t flesh and blood, it was Bungee Gum shaped as flesh and texture surprise hid that: parts of his hand was missing, so was a leg, even the lower half of his face was gone, “Chrollo really did a number on you.”
Hisoka simply hummed.
You sighed, of course, he was only here to get healed. That was it. You were disappointed, but also relieved; happy he was alive.
“Let’s go inside,” you motioned, “I’ll be able to heal you when you deactivate your Nen, and from what I saw, you’re missing a leg.”
“That would be nice.”
You enter the living room, Hisoka did as you instructed and laid down. His Nen was still active though.
“Hisoka, I can’t heal you if I can’t get to the injuries.”
Hisoka pouted. He turned away from you, before his Nen came undone. You saw his injuries completely. His burnt skin, the stubs of missing flesh, you couldn’t see his face though. Was he determined to not let you see it?
You held your hands over him, “This needs me to use my Nen water, so I suggest you hold your breath.”
He just nodded.
You focused and summoned your Nen. You were a specialist, but you learned to conjure and manipulate water, as means of defense and offense. And it gave you a catalyst for your healing ability as a specialist.
Fountain of Healing: Holy water
A water jug appeared in your hands, the Nen water waiting inside. You poured it onto Hisoka. The water flowed unnaturally to his injuries. He was injured everywhere so his whole body was covered in a membrane of Nen water.
The water glowed, it swirled around Hisoka. You could see through the light, that his missing limbs were starting to grow back. His scorched skin began to heal. In less than a few minutes, Hisoka was whole once again.
You made the water disappear, but Hisoka didn’t move.
“Hisoka?” You asked, he still didn’t respond, you leaned down to see if he was alright, “Did it work? Are you- mph!”
Hisoka shot up, surprising you with a kiss, his newly healed hand ran through your hair. He quickly pulled you into his lap as he sat up. You were so startled you opened your mouth to gasp, that allowed him to dive his tongue into you mouth. You moaned as he found all the pleasure spots. He was always good at kissing. It always brought you to your knees.
He separated. You gasped, face red, unprepared from his surprise kiss, a mischievous smirk on his face, “I was afraid I would never enjoy a kiss again, thank you, my sweet.”
Normally, you would be mad, screaming at him in a frazzled state of mind, but tonight... Maybe you were too tired, or too relieved to be mad. You carefully stood up getting out of his grasp, and began to turn away, “If that’s all Hisoka, then-…”
Suddenly, Hisoka grabbed your arm and pulled you back. The next think you knew you were lying on your couch, Hisoka above you, his eyes were predatory, “I’m afraid that’s not the only reason I’m here for Darling,” his hand stroked your face going down to your neck, “My Dear, I’ve come to whisk you away with me,” you felt his hand then wrap around your neck. He wasn’t squeezing, but you could feel the threat, “Please don’t refuse me Love,” Hisoka said, “I may be so heartbroken from your rejection, I wouldn’t be able to control my strength.”
You weren’t stupid. He was threatening your life if you refused him, even so, you asked, “Is that a threat Hisoka?” You weren’t scared. You wanted to be scared, you knew you should be scared, you should be fighting back, but you weren’t, “That’s not very nice,” you said a little too calm and casual, “I just healed you.”
Hisoka chuckled, “I would hate for you to refuse me, just like I would hate for you to become Chrollo or Illumi’s woman,” now Hisoka was squeezing, not enough to cut off breathing, but clearly to show he meant it, no doubt it would leave a bruise. Still, you weren’t afraid, in fact you were smiling. Maybe you really had lost your mind.
“What will happen if I let you ‘whisk me away?’”
Hisoka grinned, “Well, I intend to kill Chrollo.”
“Fighting him once wasn’t enough?”
“I’m a bit of a sore loser,” Hisoka admitted, “I plan to not just kill Chrollo, but the entire Troupe. I already killed two members.”
“Which ones?”
“Shalnark and Kortopi,” he answered, “Illumi is going to join the Troupe soon. So, I will be killing him as well.”
“And here I thought he was your friend,” you spoke in a sarcastic tone. That made Hisoka laugh.
“This little war will happen on the Black Whale,” Hisoka explained, “That’s where I intend to whisk you away to.”
“And what will happen when it’s over?” You asked, “Chrollo and Illumi will be dead. What will I be?”
Hisoka grinned, “Mine. That’s what you’ll be.”
You were pinned to the couch by a murderer. His hand around your throat, threatening your life if you didn’t run away with him. And you felt… Peace. Happy even.
You closed your eyes with a smile, “Hisoka,” you gently whisper, “Please say you love me… I don’t care if it’s a lie.”
You heard him chuckle. You felt his newly restored lips press into yours. You return the kiss, despite the tight squeeze around your neck, his kiss was gentle and affectionate.
He pulled away, “I love you.”
This was a horrible idea. You don’t know what he was thinking, what he wanted, if he had any genuine love for you. He was cunning and brutal. He knew how to manipulate people and made them his toys. You were probably just a pretty doll for him to admire, break, and then throw away. But at the moment you didn’t care. Maybe he did want to use you and throw you away. Maybe… just maybe he did love you, but he was insane and didn’t know how to love someone as they should.
You didn’t know how this would end, but you still wanted to see it through. Whatever happens… It will just happen.
“Yes,” you whisper, “Take me with you.”
Hisoka finally removed his hand from your neck. Then he kissed you again. You felt his hand trail down to untie your robe. You finally move your arms, to pull him closer.
For better or worse, you chose him. Perhaps you were both crazy… maybe you could be crazy together.

I thought about making this smut, but I am bad at it, so I didn't bother.
