The Fettered Hope

Andrew is a demigod. He has never known his biological parents but for years there has been signs that one of them is an immortal god of Ancient Greece. The lack of parents, however, has never been much of a problem for Andrew: he still has a brother, a father-figure and a bunch of hooligans with ADHD who might be his half-siblings or not. He also has a home: The Camp Half-Blood.

Peaceful life gets put on a pause when horryfying screams wake up everybody on the camp during one night of early summer. A boy sleeping like dead is found from the Camp's forest, abusers of Andrew's brother come back, and Andrew and two other campers are sent on a dangerous mission: They must find the Pandora's Box before the people, who have stolen it, can use it for grim purposes. Andrew might have to sleep with one eye open, though. There's a rabid red-head who has a knife, a fox, and a mysterious past.

Chapter 1: A/N

Chapter Text

* Please notice: This fic is written during the span of numerous months and years, and it took some time for me to find the right "tone of writing", if you will. Therefore it changes a lot at the beginning. It might irritate you, but most of the fic has overall similar tone. This is also the first version of the story, and I intend to rewrite the whole thing once I have finished the epilogue. Note made 24. June 2023 *

Before I let you get on with this fic I would like to state some things. You can skip this A/N but it includes some things that might clear some things all the way from the beginning.

 

  1. Firstly: There are going to be some major changes in characters’ backgrounds and relationships compared to canon but don’t let that fact chase you away. I assure you that the changes are going to be interesting ones :)
  2. This fic takes place in Rick Riordan’s universe with very few of the original characters. The camp is similar to the one before Riordan’s Lighting Thief but I might change some things.
  3. You won’t need any previous knowledge of AFTG or myths to understand this.
  4. Myths are ambiguous and I have no real education to interpret them, so basically the things in this fic are a mix of the most popular beliefs and my own opinion of the topic. For the fluency of text I’m going to change some things anyway.
  5. I’m a really slow writer. Like, slow and therefore:
  6. New chapters are released once a month as a rule. After a couple of chapters, the updating day is apparently the 23rd 24th day of a month.
  7. Specific warnings will be in every chapter. Leave a comment if you think some are missing because I’m not exactly sure what all I should put in them. In general, the story includes cursing, Mary-like parenting and mentions/scenes of child abuse. This fic isn't religious in any sense but does include talk about Ancient gods.
  8. About translating this fic: Sorry, but for the time being I'll be rejecting all translation proposals. You can read more of my reasonings in a comment I left in chapter 11.   9. This unfinished version of the story won’t be the last one. After I have finished the fic, I intend to take my time and edit the story as a whole piece. The edited chapters will be released at the same time and they will replace the current, pre-final-edit chapters.
