Work Text:
The team caught a case the next day involving a severed hand. Cho wanted nothing to do with the case, but knew the hand would end up in California, making it theirs. Rigsby had hope that it’d be Nevada’s case.
When they got there, Jane had a bright smile on his face, just for Cho. Cho returned it with a subtle lift of his lips. Jane made predictions based on what he saw and Cho made the mistake of betting him that he couldn’t possibly be right. He didn’t admit that he made the bet because he liked the smile Jane got when he won.
They worked the case as usual, and Jane ended up winning 250k by counting cards in the casino. With his winnings he bought the women on the team beautiful jewelry and bought the guys flashy watches. In the end, the women returned their gifts, but the men happily kept theirs. Jane was thrilled, liking the idea of Cho wearing something he bought for the man.
They wrapped the case up in a few days. During that time, Cho and Jane didn’t mention their date and nothing seemed different than usual. Cho did find himself watching Jane more than normal, and Jane did the same. They shared the occasional smile, but nothing the team would notice. What they had right now, was theirs and not for the team to know about just yet. On the second day of the case, Cho brought in the first Harry Potter book for Jane, and he periodically read it throughout the case.
When they finished the case, Cho ran into Jane getting tea in the breakroom. Jane handed Cho a cup, having made it perfectly for the man, and Cho smiled. He momentarily wanted to kiss the man, but held back. Jane smiled, basically reading Cho’s mind.
“I finished the Sorcerer’s Stone last night.”
“What did you think?”
“I liked it. It’s a fascinating world. I can see everyone’s obsession with it.”
“It’s hardly an obsession.” Cho defended.
“It’s the definition of obsession.”
“Sure.” Cho sipped his tea. “You want to come over tonight and watch the first film?”
Jane smiled once again. “Absolutely.”
Cho nodded and headed back to work, brushing shoulders with Jane as he passed.
Jane knocked on Cho’s door at 7 o’clock sharp. Cho greeted him with a noticeable smile; his apartment smelled like butter and popcorn. Jane smiled back and headed into the apartment. Cho walked into the kitchen and Jane followed. He was handed two mugs of hot cocoa and Cho grabbed the bowl of popcorn.
“Hot chocolate and popcorn?” Jane questioned.
“It’s something me and my sisters did whenever we watched movies together. It’s kind of a tradition.”
Jane nodded. They headed into the living room where the film’s menu screen was already pulled up and playing. They set everything on the coffee table and got comfortable on the couch. Cho decided to say screw it and leaned against Jane, who wrapped his arm around Cho. Cho hit play on the remote and the movie began.
For once Jane was quiet, Cho noticed, as they watched the film. But it wasn’t an uncomfortable quiet. Cho glanced up and saw the intense interest on Jane’s face as he took in the film. Cho smiled and relaxed against Jane, turning back to the movie. Neither said a word during the film, saving anything they wanted to say until afterwards.
When the credits ran, they broke the silence and discussed the differences between the film and the book. They also discussed Jane’s theories about the rest of the series and Cho didn’t deny nor confirm any of them, merely debated them with Jane.
They had a great conversation, and when it died down, Cho looked up at Jane and was greeted with a kiss. The kiss quickly changed from a gentle slide of lips to a rough battle of tongues. Cho moved to straddle Jane’s lap, intensifying the situation. Jane’s hands rested on Cho’s hips and Cho’s hands slipped under Jane’s shirt and up to his chest. Cho moved his head to kiss down Jane’s jaw to his neck, and like in everything, Jane was not quiet in his enjoyment. Cho loved each and every sound he caused Jane to make.
When Cho moved to take off Jane’s shirt, Jane stopped him. Cho looked at Jane and saw a sorrow in the man’s eyes. Cho immediately understood and dropped his hands. He kissed Jane one more time before climbing out of his lap, sitting next to him once again.
Jane moved to talk but Cho shook his head. “Don’t apologize.”
“Okay.”
Silence fell over them. Cho didn’t know what to say to make that sorrow disappear from Jane’s eyes, so he said nothing at all. He hesitated but eventually laid his hand on top of Jane’s, hoping to show that he wasn’t upset with the man.
Then he stood and headed to his bookcase, pulling out the Chamber of Secrets, book 2 of Harry Potter. He handed it to Jane.
“Thank you.”
“No problem.”
Jane stood and straightened his shirt. He kissed Cho once more before heading out of the apartment. Cho watched him go.
