Chapter Text
‘You could just post something on the bulletin board in the dance department.’ Hoseok suggested.
‘I dunno.’
‘It’s the easiest way, and I’m sure they’re be plenty of people who are interested in modelling for you.’
‘You really think so?’ Yoongi asked, he wasn’t so sure. Who would want to waste their time modelling for him when they could be doing anything else.
‘Of course! You forget that dancers and performers love attention. I can guarantee you’ll get at least five people willing to help, especially if they’re getting the photos for their portfolios.’
‘I’ll think about it.’
‘No think, only do. Come on!’ Hoseok said standing up and grabbing Yoongi’s arm.
‘What now?!’ Yoongi said, only sounding a little panicked. They had been sat in the campus coffee shop while Yoongi complained into his americano about needing a model for his photography final project. The theme was ‘kinetic elements’ and he’d had the brilliant idea of photographing someone dancing in the four elements, earth, air, water and fire. His tutor had loved the idea and approved it immediately, the only problem was now Yoongi needed a model. Naturally he went to his friend who was a dance major first, but Hoseok was too busy, and if he was honest to himself not what Yoongi had in mind. Hoseok’s specialisation was hiphop and street dance, both of which didn’t really fit in with Yoongi’s vision for the project. He needed someone who did ballet or contemporary.
Yoongi barely had a chance to grab his bag before Hoseok was dragging him out of the coffee shop.
‘No time like the present hyung!’ He said brightly. All Yoongi could do was trail along behind him.
The dance department was loud. Maybe Yoongi was just used to the quiet of the photography studios but it was a hive of activity when they walked in. He supposed it because it was one of those in-between class times. Various students hanging about waiting for their next schedules, the doors to one of the studios open, music pouring out. Hoseok greeted a few people as they passed through, forever the social butterfly, the complete opposite of Yoongi who just kept his head down and hoped he wouldn’t draw any attention.
‘Okay let's make a sign, something to pull those pretty ballerinas in.’ Hoseok said when they reached the small communal area which was dotted with a few tables and chairs. Yoongi sat down beside him as Hoseok pulled a some paper out of his bag.
He spent a few minutes writing a short notice and then proceeded to draw some cute cartoons around it in his colourful pens.
‘Ah did we really need to make it so…’
‘Visible? Yeah, if we left it as a short essay no one would pay any notice.’
‘It’s not very me though.’
‘Pretty sure they’ll work that out when they meet you hyung.’ Hoseok said with a laugh. Once he was finished he passed it over to Yoongi and pointed over to the notice board.
‘Go on.’
Yoongi waited for a few moments before getting to his feet with a heavy sigh.
He was grateful that there wasn’t anyone hanging around beside the notice board. He took a quick look over it, seeing what was already tacked up onto the board before hanging his own notice. There were various flyers, club promotions, and even a couple of roommate requests. The usual kind of things you get on university notice boards. Before he could lose his nerve he found a pin and a space and hung up his little flyer.

He stood for a moment to read it over once more before heading back to Hoseok but before he even got a chance to finish reading a voice from behind him spoke.
‘I’ll do it.’
Yoongi spun around and it was as though the world came to a stop. Standing behind him was Park Jimin.
Yoongi couldn’t speak. He just gaped at Jimin, who was watching him, a curious look on his face. Park Jimin was the last person Yoongi had wanted to run into when they entered the dance department.
Yoongi had first encountered Jimin when he’d attended one of the universities end of year showcases. He’d been there to support Hoseok as always, at the time Jimin had just been a first year, and Yoongi hadn’t known who he was. The moment he stepped out onstage the image of him had been imprinted into Yoongi’s mind forever. He had never seen anyone so beautiful and graceful, the way he danced and moved left Yoongi speechless. He’d seen a lot of dancing over the years thanks to being friends with Hoseok, but no one had left an impression like Jimin had. He’d became a little obsessed, hunting down his instagram when he’d gotten home to watch all the dancing videos he’d posted. It didn’t help that Park Jimin was the most beautiful person Yoongi had ever seen. His crush had hit hard and fast, and ever since then he’d quietly admired him from afar.
‘Yoongi-ssi?’
‘Uh, um.’ He knew his name? Wait, was it on the notice? He knew his name.
‘Unless you’d prefer a female dancer?’ Jimin asked.
‘No! Um, I mean, that’s not what I want.’ Yoongi mumbled, god what was he doing.
‘Great, well I’d be happy to do it, that’s if our schedules align, I have practice but I’m sure we can work something out.’ Jimin said happily pulling out his phone from his pocket, he was saying something else but Yoongi’s mind had just blanked. Park Jimin was not only talking to him, but he was readily agreeing to model for him, seemed enthusiastic about it even.
‘Can you give me your number? I’m terrible it keeping up with emails, texting will be easier.’ Jimin asked, Yoongi once again just gaped at him. It was only when he felt Jimin’s phone being nudged against his fingers that he snapped out of it.
‘Uh, yeah-yeah of course.’ He said taking the phone. He could see the amused look on Jimin’s face, he must have been making a right fool of himself. He fumbled with the phone but managed to type his number in without dropping it and passed it back over to Jimin.
‘Great, I have to get to practice now but I’ll text you okay?’ Jimin said brightly and all Yoongi could do was nod before Jimin disappeared. He just stood staring at the space where he’d been stood in shock. The whole exchange over in a little over a minute.
‘Guess we won’t be needing this anymore.’
Yoongi hadn’t even noticed Hoseok coming over until he was reaching over Yoongi’s shoulder and pulling the notice down from where Yoongi had just pinned it up.
‘What?’
‘Oh hyung, you’re such a disaster gay it’s not even funny. Come on, I’ll buy you coffee and you can try and wrap your head around the fact that Park Jimin is going to be modelling for you.’
*****
It was only when Yoongi finally got home and locked himself away in his room that it really hit him. Park Jimin was going to be modelling for him, the boy he’d been crushing on for the past two years was gonna be the subject of his final project. Fuck.
In all honesty Jimin was who he’d had in mind when he’d been planning out the project. Had imagined the singer dancing for him, showing his graceful movements in each of Yoongi’s planned settings. He had never imagined that it would become a reality. It had been a mere dream, the thought of actually having Jimin in his view finder however was overwhelming. He was terrified that he’d come across as weird or say something stupid in front of the boy who made his heart stutter. He decided to try and distract himself from overthinking, and loaded up Netflix. Seokjin had been talking about a new drama he’d gotten into, hopefully it would be enough to keep his mind off Park Jimin.
It was a little while later, when he was very much invested in the second episode of the drama that his phone pinged. He ignored it at first, assuming it would be Hoseok or Namjoon. But when it pinged again, another two times in succession he grabbed it.
PJM - Hi! So I’m looking at my schedule. I don’t really have many actual classes now, most are just study sessions that can be moved around. But I do have practice that I need to go to. So if you’re okay to work around those I’m free whenever you need me :) <3
PJM - The notice said at least 2 sessions, will there be more? I don’t mind. I can do as many as you need.~
PJM - It’s Park Jimin btw :)
Yoongi stared at his phone as a fourth message appeared.
PJM - Yoongi-ssi?
Jimin had not only text him, but he’d sent him a barrage of messages. Apparently he wasn't the type to worry about spamming, unlike Yoongi who was currently panicking over what to reply.
PJM - omg are you sleeping??
PJM - it’s late, I should’ve waited til morning
PJM - sorry! Sleep well Yoongi-ssi :)
Yoongi could only watch as another wave of messages appeared on his screen. While he was scared to reply, he also didn’t want Jimin to think he was lame and already sleeping at 10pm.
MYG - Hi Jimin-ssi, it’s okay I’m not sleeping.
PJM - :) :) :)
PJM - oh that’s good, I thought I was bothering you hehe
MYG - no you’re not bothering me
Yoongi’s was having trouble staying composed as he read the messages that Jimin sent. Jimin was indeed bothering him, but not in the way that he thought. Yoongi’s heart was hammering in his chest and he felt hot all over.
PJM - okay so what is your schedule?
PJM - wait, I can send you mine!
PJM - *picture attached*
PJM - just let me know what days work for you :) :)
Yoongi opened the image, it was a photo of Jimin’s schedule, he had blocked off in pink his practice session. Yoongi was surprised how many there were. He was sure even Hoseok’s wasn’t this packed. As though he was reading Yoongi’s mind Jimin’s name flashed up on his phone again.
PJM - sorry I know it looks quite full, everyone keeps telling me I spend too much time in the practice room
PJM - but I need it if I want to get good
Yoongi wanted to tell him he was already good, more than good. As far as he was concerned Jimin was the best dancer he’d ever seen. But he also understood Jimin’s desire to prove himself and work hard. He was like that, had spent many long hours in the photography studio and the editing suite. Making sure all his work was perfect.
MYG - you’re already good, but I understand wanting to work hard don’t worry
PJM - you think I’m good *blush* I’m really not that good
PJM - I’ll keep working hard until I am
PJM - thank you for the compliment tho
PJM - and for understanding :))
MYG - :)
Yoongi didn’t know what to say, he wanted to shower Jimin in compliments and make him see just how incredible he was, but that would probably be weird. So instead he awkwardly sent a smiley emoji. Hoseok would laugh if he saw it, Yoongi never used emojis.
PJM - what days work around your schedule? I don’t mind working late if you’re busy during the day
MYG - I think the only time our schedules are empty at the same time is Friday afternoon/night. I wouldn’t want to take your Friday nights away from you though, so I can move around some of my studio time so we can do another day.
PJM - no that’s fine!!
PJM - you don’t need to change it for me! Friday is good :)
MYG - are you sure? I wouldn’t be a problem
PJM - I’m gonna put it in my diary for Friday, you can’t change it now :p
MYG - okay lol
Yoongi was a little unsure about how Jimin would feel about it when Friday came around. From what Yoongi had seen around campus Jimin was quite the social butterfly, always surrounded by a group of friends. He was sure Jimin would rather be at a party with his friends and not stuck with Yoongi, but he had insisted and after a few more exchanges they agreed on a time. They had also agreed to meet on Thursday morning before Jimin’s class so Yoongi could show him his plan and discuss what they were actually going to be shooting the following day.
When he finally lay down to sleep an hour later, the drama he’d been watching completely forgotten he felt giddy. He was thrumming with both nerves and excitement. Jimin had been surprisingly easy to talk to over text, maybe it was because he took the lead and Yoongi could just respond, rather than fretting over what to send. He hoped the next couple of days went over okay and his anxiety didn’t get the best of him. Jimin would be perfect for his project, he just needed to play his part and not make a fool of himself.
***
The following few days seemed to go by in an instant, and suddenly he was awake much earlier than he usually would be and making his way to the coffee shop near campus. It was the one he and Namjoon often holed up in. He felt comfortable there, so he’d been relieved when Jimin had suggested it. A familiar surrounding would make his social anxiety a little better. The shop was empty when Yoongi stepped inside. It hadn’t been open long and even the early morning rush hadn’t hit. He grabbed his usual order of an iced americano and settled himself at a table. In order to stop himself from fidgeting while he waited he pulled out his notebook and laptop. It gave him something to focus on, and stopped his nerves building even further.
Thankfully Jimin arrived shortly after. Yoongi however was not thankful for the way in which he was dressed. He looked far too good, his hair swept back off his bare face. He was wearing black sweatpants and a cropped t-shirt. A goddamn crop top. Once again Yoongi’s brain short-circuited when his eyes dropped to the defined abs on display. Yoongi was in serious trouble. How was he supposed to focus when Jimin was there looking like a wet dream?
‘Sorry I’m late.’ He said, giving Yoongi a sheepish smile.
‘You’re not, it’s okay.’ He assured.
‘Oh, good. I’m usually late so I just assumed.’ Jimin said with a laugh. He dropped his bag onto the seat opposite Yoongi. ‘Let me just get a drink, do you want anything?’
‘No I’m good thanks.’
Yoongi watched as Jimin went over to the counter, his eyes trailing over his slender figure. His eyes drawn to his tiny waist, which was highlighted further when Jimin stretched his arms above his head while he waited for his drink, causing the crop top to climb higher and reveal even more bare skin. Yoongi could feel the blush spreading across his cheeks, even more so when his eyes drifted down to his ass. Of course that was the moment Jimin turned around.
Yoongi averted his eyes quickly and willed the redness of his cheeks do go down, if he hadn’t been staring daggers into his laptop screen he would’ve seen the satisfied smirk that graced Jimin’s face as he caught Yoongi looking at him. But Yoongi was too caught up in his own spiral of embarrassment at potentially being caught staring at Park Jimin’s ass. He was an idiot. A stupid gay idiot who had a crush on a boy way out of his league and would never look at someone like him twice.
He was startled out of his spiral when Jimin sank into the seat beside him, Yoongi stiffened as Jimin shifted the chair so it was as close to his as possible. Their thighs pressed together.
‘Is this where we’re gonna take the pictures?’ He asked looking at the laptop screen where Yoongi had some potential location shots showing. It took Yoongi a moment to answer, his mind just a whirlwind of omg Park Jimin is sat next to me, why is he sat next to me, his leg is touching mine, fuuuuuck.
‘Um, yeah.’ Yoongi said, his voice coming out a little croaky. He cleared his throat and tried again. ‘There’s a few possible ones I want to try, it’ll depend on what they’re like lighting wise whether or not they’ll work.’
‘Okay cool, this place looks really pretty. What’s the theme? They all seem very different.’ Jimin asked pointing at the image of a flower field.
‘It’s kinetic elements, my plan was to photograph you dancing surrounded by the four elements. So earth, air, water and fire, hopefully capturing your movements to showcase the kinetic part.’
‘Wow, that’s amazing! Now I’m worried I’ll be a bad model, it’s such an incredible idea and I’ve never done modelling before.’ Jimin said pulling away from where he’d been leaning in to look at the screen. Yoongi looked over at him and he was surprised to see some doubt in Jimin’s eyes, his teeth worrying at his bottom lip.
‘You don’t need to worry about that.’ Yoongi assured. ‘You’re a beautiful dancer, that’s all I need.’
‘You think I’m beautiful?’ Jimin asked.
Yoongi could only splutter as Jimin’s face split into a wide grin.
‘Aish I’m only teasing Yoongi-ssi.’ He said slapping Yoongi lightly on the arm.
Yoongi could feel his face burning, but he did his best to compose himself as Jimin took a drink of his coffee.
‘Tell me more about the locations you want to try.’ Jimin said, and Yoongi was thankfully to move on from his flustered reaction to Jimin’s comment.
They sat for around half an hour going over Yoongi’s outline for the shoots before Jimin had to head off to his class. Once they got into it he had been surprised to find it was easy to talk to Jimin, he had seemed really interested in what Yoongi had to say about his idea and plan, and really keen to be a part of it. He’d even found himself relaxing the longer he was sat with him. It had been a good idea to meet ahead of the shoots like this, at first when they’d arranged it he’d been in two minds. Unsure if it would’ve been better to just talk it over via text and just go into the shoots from that. He was glad Jimin had pushed for them to meet up, it had been the right decision and Yoongi felt more comfortable in the idea of spending a few hours with Jimin as they did the shoots.
Later that evening Yoongi had gotten out of the shower to find another barrage of texts from Jimin. He smiled at himself at the thought of Jimin simply texting out his stream of thought as it came to him, not bothered in the slightest that he’d sent Yoongi six texts in the space of a few minutes.
PJM - OMG what should I wear???
PJM - we didn’t discuss that, do you want me in dance clothes? Or something fancier?
PJM - I have some of my old stage wear I could use
PJM - wait do you have costumes for me to wear?
PJM - ALSO should I bring some snacks? My roommate said I should
PJM - I’m bringing snacks, I don’t want you getting hungry when you’re working so hard!
Yoongi couldn’t help but feel endeared at Jimin’s texts. He quickly got himself settled in bed before sending a reply, trying to ignore the giddy feeling in his chest.
MYG - firstly, you don’t need to bring snacks unless you want to lol secondly, just wear whatever you’re comfortable, I don’t think it’ll matter too much
PJM - I’m bring snacks, my photographer-nim needs to be well fed :3
PJM - something more close fitting will probably show off my lines better
PJM - but something flowy will show the movement more hmmm
PJM - what do you think?
Yoongi didn’t know what to think, his mind had stuck on the idea of Jimin in close fitting clothes. He’d seen him around campus in his skin tight jeans and that was a very distracting thought. Thankfully Jimin didn’t seem to need an actual response.
PJM - I’ll bring something for both, I can always change right?
PJM - yeah, that way you can tell me which works best
PJM - I’m really nervous but excited too hehe :)))
MYG - you don’t need to be nervous
Yoongi felt like a hypocrite as he sent the reply, how could he tell Jimin not to be nervous when he was a bag of nerves himself. Of course Yoongi was nervous for a whole different reason than Jimin. He was just anxious about making a fool of himself in front of his crush. Jimin’s nerves at least were for a legitimate reason.
MYG - you’ll be fine no matter what
MYG - and it’s a good idea to bring different things to wear, we can try them out
PJM - :D <3<3
PJM - I’m glad you think it’s a good idea
PJM - I want to do a good job
MYG - I’m sure you will
PJM - got to sleep now so I can look my best for tomorrow. Gn photographer-nim :))
MYG - goodnight Jimin-ah :)
