Chapter Text
Pain...electric impulses of pain shot through her body, searing every fiber of her being. She faltered at the edge of consciousness before falling into a dark abyss...
"Where did you say you found her?" a female-sounding voice asked, echoing in the distance.
"She just appeared in a flash of light. The scanners picked up something and suddenly there she was, in the middle of the transporter room" another voice responded, this one resembling that of a male.
"Any idea who she is or where she came from?"
"No, but there were no weapons on her and..."
"Ugh..." the girl moaned as the searing pain returned with a vengeance
"She's waking up" the first voice said.
"Do you need me to stay?" the male asked.
"No, I should be alright. I'll call you if I need anything."
The girl heard the pitter patter of footsteps, getting fainter with each step until they were gone...
Light. Blinding light filled her eyes. She shut them quickly.
"Computer, reduce lighting by 30 percent."
The girl tried opening her eyes once more, finding the light was softer and no longer hurt. "Where...where am I?" she asked while trying to sit up, but her body refused to cooperate.
"You're aboard the USS Enterprise" a woman with shoulder length red hair said as she walked over to the girl's bedside. "Hello, I'm Doctor Crusher" she said in a soft tone. "Can you tell me your name?"
"I'm Willow. Willow Sparks." Doctor Crusher gave Willow a compassionate smile.
"Nice to meet you, Willow."
"Thanks, um...how did I end up on a cruise ship?" Doctor Crusher looked puzzled for a moment before suddenly showing a look of realization.
"Are you referring to a large water vessel?" Willow nodded. "You're not on a cruise ship Willow. You're on a spaceship."
Willow's eyes darted around, panic filling her. "A spaceship? But that...that's impossible. I can't be in outer space."
"Why wouldn't it be possible? Does your world not have space travel?"
"My world? There's only one habitable world as you put it; Earth. I mean, maybe in the future we'll discover other worlds with lifeforms. But it's only 2015. Humanity has only made it to the moon."
"2015? Oh! You're referring to the Gregorian calendar" Doctor Crusher said before realization hit her. "Willow, this isn't the year 2015."
Willow shot her a look of disbelief. "Oh, really? Then what year is it?"
"According to your calendar system, it's the year 2367."
Willow's mouth dropped open. "And you just expect me to blindly believe this nonsense?"
"Willow, I know this must be a shock to you and I don't expect you to believe me, but I am telling you the truth when I say that somehow you traveled through time and ended up on our spaceship."
Willow looked intently at her, trying to see what she could pick up from this so called doctor. Willow sensed she was telling the truth. She also sensed that the woman seemed fully coherent. Either this Doctor Crusher was indeed telling her the truth or she was telling her what she believed to be the truth. Willow sighed. "Alright. I'm not sensing any deception from you. So I believe you, for now. But I still would like to see some sort of proof that I really am in space and this isn't the year 2015."
"Once you are fully recovered, I'm certain that I'll...wait, what do you mean you don't sense any deception? Willow, do you have empathic abilities?"
Willow gulped. She feared that she had said too much.
