Chapter Text

Tanya sighed heavily as she worked on the paper before her. In ways it reminded her of her life before this one. In ways that was good, as long as it wasn’t the frontlines, it was a snub to Being X.

Her head rose with the firm knock on her door and she watched it open. Her faithful adjutant stepped backwards, pushing the door with her back as she held a tray with that wonderful black gold that Tanya adored.

There was something she’d realised about her precious adjutant and it was that she was easily flustered when Tanya took the time to tease her. Watching her turn red and pout was one of the better parts of her day.

Visha was watching the tiny terror with slitted eyes, she had a feeling that she was about to be teased mercilessly.

“Don’t look at me like that, Lieutenant.” Tanya’s eyes were closed, the picture of sheer innocence. “It’s not my fault you’re so easy to tease. Honestly you leave yourself open to poking and prodding.”

Viktoriya bristled, it wasn’t her fault that she reacted the way she did to Tanya’s teasing. “It’s because you open me!” She spat the words out before she could think better of them and then froze as Tanya’s eyes slowly opened and focused on her from the corners. “Oh for-“

Tanya didn’t even have to say anything as Visha huffed and pouted, she just let her smug satisfaction ooze out of her. It honestly reminded Visha of a cat.

“Do you have a cat, Major?” She asked, changing the subject and Tanya paused, considering her question, slightly puzzled by it and ignoring all the pussy jokes she could make.

“No, why do you ask?” She couldn’t keep her puzzlement at bay and didn’t really try to.

“Oh, you just remind me of a very satisfied cat right now.” Tanya pursed her lips as she considered every single joke she could make at her adjutant’s expense. One of them involved asking if she’d really just called her a pussy.

“We could always look into getting an office cat.” Her brain caught up with her words and she was left absolutely baffled as to why she would offer such a thing, only to focus on the radiance that was Viktoriya’s excited face.

Right, that would do it.

~Some time later~

Tanya stared at the ball of black fluff sitting on her lieutenant’s desk. It stared back with greenish gold eyes before it lazily blinked at her.

“Lieutenant Serebryakov… what is that?” She didn’t dare poke it as it might take unbridge to such a thing.

“It’s a kitten.” Her lieutenant replied helpfully. Tanya looked up to give her adjutant a flat look. Before she could voice any complaint however, Visha cut her off. “You said we could get one.”

Tanya slowly blinked as she watched her radiant assistant. “I said we could look into getting one.” Her eyes slowly dropped back down onto the cat on the desk.

“Did you…? I’ll guess she’ll just have to come home with me then.” She smiled widely as she looked at her.

Tanya looked back up at Visha and blinked once more. “I see.” She spoke the words slowly and turned to return to her desk. Her thoughts whirling in her head as she carefully held her tongue, knowing when something was too much, at least most of the time.

~~~~~
It had already been a long day and Tanya wasn’t keen on making it any longer than it had to be. She stood with a small groan, causing Viktoriya to look up.
“Are you about to head out?” She asked and Tanya nodded. “Remember you have a meeting with General Zettour in the morning.”
“Very well then. I’ll take my leave.” Tanya turned away from the taller woman.
“So you’re just going to leave me alone?” She could hear the playful pout in her voice and a smirk crossed her lips. She half turned back to look at her adjutant, her eyes hooding lightly as she replied in a lower and more husky tone.
“Would you beg me to stay?”
Visha’s cheeks burned as her eyes widened in surprise. Tanya’s small smirk widened as she watched her grow flustered.
“I- ah! You can go.”
“Then, by your leave, Lieutenant.” Tanya’s smirk widened to an amused and smug grin before she turned back and left the office and a very flustered Visha.
~~~~~

Tanya, Viktoriya had found, was freezing cold most of the time. It did not help that she had an appreciation for being cold.

“Visha, my cold body is a weapon.” It was a little startling how she could say such a thing with a straight face.

“Then I’ll just have to heat you up before you can use it.”

The winds of Norden bit a lot harder than the Empire ever could but that didn’t mean the Empire would roll over that easily.

“Not in this weather you won’t.” A small smirk curled Tanya’s lips and Visha had the idle thought she should leave this conversation where it was but the major hadn’t raised a coward.

“Try me!”

Tanya responded instantly, her voice a low, throaty purr. “I intend to.”

Her response left her gobsmacked. “I-is that a threat or are you flirting?” Viktoriya was taken aback as she stared at the smaller woman.

She turned to face her entirely, teal eyes hooding as she dangerously walked towards her prey.

“Yes.”

Help.

~~~~~
“I swear! One day she’s going to make me just… just scream!” Visha huffed as she sunk onto the bar top. The officers of the 203rd surrounding her. Weiss offered her a sympathetic pat on the back and she huffed.
“Come on, it can’t be that bad.” He looked to the others who shrugged in response, having never seen the side of Tanya that Viktoriya was complaining about.
Visha gave him the same side eye that Tanya was fond of giving her. “If she was here she’d say something about me supposed to be grateful about it.”
“Why?” Grantz asked, unable to think of a single way that could be made into a joke.
“Because of the two of us I’d be the one screaming.” She buried her face in her arms as around her gears grinded.
“Ooooh.” Neumann slowly drawled as it clicked for him. Unfortunately for the others they weren’t having much luck. “Good luck.”
“What kind of advice is that?!” Visha couldn’t help but screech as she was essentially cast into the void.
~~~~~

Visha was yawning widely, one arm lifted above her head while her free hand covered her mouth. She rubbed her jaw with a small frown as she broke off half way through.

“Is something wrong?” Tanya asked as she signed some paperwork and slipped it into a complete tray.

“It hurts to yawn.” Visha responded, rubbing the bruise on her jaw where she’d ended up clocked during a night out with the officers of the 203rd.

“Shall I kiss it better?” Tanya hadn’t even looked up. Visha squeaked in surprise, her face quickly turning red.

“You’re very smug right now, aren’t you.”

“I have no clue what you mean, Lieutenant.” Tanya looked up, once again oozing smug satisfaction.

Visha huffed as she stared at Tanya before she reluctantly returned to her work.

~~~~~
Tianna was purring loudly as Tanya idly pet her. She had become a staple of the office and the bane of Viktoriya’s existence.
“You know, Major, for someone that didn’t want a cat, she sure purrs a lot when you pet her.”
She knew she’d made a mistake when she spotted Tanya’s evil little smile.
“That’s because I’m good with my hands, Lieutenant Serebryakov.”
Visha’s eyes narrowed as she decided to play her game and see if she could make her back down.
“Then I guess I’ll have to put that to the test, now won’t I?” She replied coolly, proud of herself for her quick wit.
That pride dried up in a second flat as Tanya’s smile widened further. “Then I’ll be certain to use more than my hands on you.”
Viktoriya tried valiantly to keep the blush off her cheeks but failed dismally as she watched her superior and tiny terror of a boss return to her paperwork, an amused grin etched onto her lips.
“One day, one day I’m just going to throw my hands up and banshee cream with you… Scream! Scream! I meant scream!” She was nearly screaming now as Tanya set her pen down and slowly stood up.
“Banshee cream huh?” She began to deliberately prowel across the office towards her unfortunate lieutenant.
“Tanya… Tanya please.” Both Tanya and Viktoriya froze. Red flooded Tanya’s face and she coughed into her fist before surprisingly returning to her desk.
“Viktoriya. I suggest you don’t do that again.” Viktoriya herself was mortified as she hid her face in her hands and refused to look at her superior.
There was silence in the room as both women regained their composure. As normal, Viktoriya Ivanovna Serebryakov, had given Tanya von Degurechaff more ammo to tease her with but this time she’d found her own way to tease her back.
Quietly she hoped it wouldn’t backfire on her.
