Work Text:

Love is weird.

Not that Cindy has had much experience with it, but as her silk sense screamed at her to dodge each swipe, kick and fist Felicia is aiming her way, her heartbeat thrummed and her brain couldn’t help but be in awe of how, even when fury twisted her features up into a snarl, Felicia looked absolutely radiant.

The blows that she wasn’t able to block or dodge hurt, but it’s a punishment she’s willing to bear. They hurt less than what she’s feeling internally, anyways.

Black Cat is a criminal. Always has been, always will be. ” Bobbi’s words resonated in her mind as Felicia wrapped the teleporter belt snugly around her neck, cutting off her airflow. Cindy scrambled to free herself, eyes watering as her body reacted to her panic, pushing the other woman off of her with a blast of webbing to the chest.

The fight raged on, and Cindy regretted ever taking this job in the first place. It wasn’t fair. It wasn’t fair.

Felicia had already been hurt by another spider before- to have done this was cruel, and Cindy had known that. But in the beginning, she could ignore it in favor of the possibility of getting leads on her family.

But with each heist, with each mission she carried out with her, Cindy gave piece after piece of herself to Felicia and in return, Felicia did the same. Of course, she didn’t give her as much of herself as she had given to her, but it was enough to where stolen kisses and visits at night instilled themselves into her routine. Cindy unceremoniously leapt upwards, smashing through the glass rooftop and landed hard on the concrete roof, ignoring the taste of blood in her mouth and the throbbing in her eye as she desperately tried to think of a way to salvage both the mission and the fragile bond that she shared with Felicia, even when it was slowly splintering into pieces before her very eyes.

“It’s over ,” Felicia phased onto the roof a few seconds later, claws extended as she stalked forward and yanked Cindy up from the roof, her eyes chips of ice as she stared directly into the other girl’s eyes.

Cindy didn’t even remember what she said at that moment; something about S.H.I.E.L.D. going into her hideout to round up the lackeys part of her gang, and her tongue weighed heavily in her mouth as she gazed back at the blonde woman who was holding her upright. The olive branch of testifying on her behalf she attempted to offer was rebuffed with a sharp swipe to the face, blood wetting Felicia’s hand as she was pinned to the ground.

The delicate bond between them had shattered the moment Felicia laid a clawed hand on her shoulder a few minutes ago- nothing was left to be used to rebuild it.

I’m sorry- ” Cindy tried to say, ignoring the dizzying sensation brought on from the blow to her temple.

Tell someone who cares.” Felicia snarled back, pulling her fist back to aim it right at her face again.

You’re wrong… you’re not bad… Not all bad… ” The dark haired woman exhaled.

The rays from a S.H.I.E.L.D gun shot up between them, the force of it causing them to fly away from each other.

Silk landed in a dumpster, her body unmoving, and Black Cat seethed, ignoring the words of one of her agents as she teleported away from the scene, ignoring the slicing pain of betrayal cutting through her heart and soul.

A tear rolls down her temple, disappearing into her hair.

A chunk of debris slowly cracks off the side of the building, and she knows that if it falls, she’s unlikely to survive it.

Cindy hadn’t wanted to love Felicia Hardy. She doesn’t want to stop either.

But it’s too late now. What’s done, is done, and can’t be undone.

The debris from the building falls, and Cindy closes her eyes. Everything goes black.

At least she got to see Felicia one last time.

Notes:

cindy and felicia are terribly gone on each other; it's such a shame that life (and S.H.I.E.L.D.) got in the way of their fragile love. is there potential for them to get back what they once had? who knows... there just might be! eventually, anyways. got any feedback, questions or anything to tell me? come hit me up at my twitter or my curiouscat!

until next time! ♡
